<p>The Shiv-Hanuman Temple has been closed since 1978 and was reopened by the authorities two days ago after they “stumbled upon” it during a drive against power theft. The devotees also painted religious slogans like 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Om Namah Shivay' on the walls of the temple.</p>

<p>After the reopening of the temple, the premises were cleaned and electricity was restored. CCTV cameras were also installed in the temple for security reasons.</p>

<p>On November 24, a clash broke out between protesters and security personnel in Sambhal after a court order for a survey of a mosque, which led to four people being killed and many others getting injured.</p>

<p>Delhi-NCR once again implemented Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Monday, December 16, after the air quality in the national capital declined rapidly amid the cold wave and&nbsp;the city breached the 400 mark on the Air Quality Index.</p>

<p>This comes hours after the&nbsp;Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) imposed GRAP Stage-III when the AQI in Delhi was recorded at around 300.</p>

<p>Earlier, the GRAP Stage-III and IV restrictions were revoked in the national capital on December 5 after the air quality improved in the region. However, the AQI levels dipped once again in Delhi, prompting the centre’s air quality panel to re-invoke Stage IV of GRAP. It includes restrictions on vehicles with high emissions, minimising vehicular congestion by authorities, a ban on non-essential construction and demolition activities, and ordering hybrid mode for classes up to the primary.</p>

<p>The driver was a 17-year-old boy who was later apprehended. Moreover, legal action has been taken against the owner of the vehicle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police said that a case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125A (causing hurt by an act endangering the life of personal safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)&nbsp;has been registered.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India will be commissioning the hydrographic survey ship INS Nirdeshak on Wednesday (Dec 18) which will increase India's capabilities in hydrographic surveys not only for its own maritime interests but also for countries in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The primary function of the ship will be to conduct comprehensive hydrographic surveys, which include both coastal and deep-water surveys of ports, navigational channels, and maritime limits. It has been fitted with cutting-edge hydrographic survey technologies, including a Multi-Beam Echo Sounder (MBES) that delivers highly precise and detailed seabed mapping, an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) enabling survey missions to be conducted in remote and challenging areas and a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) for inspecting underwater structures.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP TR Baalu, opposing the bill, stated, "I oppose the 129th Constitution Amendment Bill, 2024. As my leader M.K. Stalin has said, it is anti-federal. The electors have the right to elect the government for five years, and this right cannot be curtailed with simultaneous elections."</p>

<p>Meanwhile Congress' Tewari labelled the constitutional amendment an "absolute assault on the basic structure of the Constitution" and said: "Beyond the seventh schedule of the Constitution is the basic structure doctrine, which spells out that there are certain features of the Constitution beyond the amending power of the House. The essential features are federalism and the structure of our democracy."</p>

<p>Delhi-NCR once again implemented Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Monday, December 16, after the air quality in the national capital declined rapidly amid the cold wave and the city breached the 400 mark on the Air Quality Index.</p></p>
<p>This comes hours after the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) imposed GRAP Stage-III when the AQI in Delhi was recorded at around 300.</p>
<p>Earlier, the GRAP Stage-III and IV restrictions were revoked in the national capital on December 5 after the air quality improved in the region. However, the AQI levels dipped once again in Delhi, prompting the centre’s air quality panel to re-invoke Stage IV of GRAP. It includes restrictions on vehicles with high emissions, minimising vehicular congestion by authorities, a ban on non-essential construction and demolition activities, and ordering hybrid mode for classes up to the primary.</p>

<p>GRAP-IV are the measures implemented in Delhi-NCR amid the rising air pollution crisis. These guidelines are aimed at controlling the air pollution. The GRAP is divided into four stages, depending on the air quality prevailing in the city.</p>

<li>Trucks carrying non-essential goods will be banned from entering Delhi, except those running on LNG, CNG, or electricity.</li>
<li>Non-essential diesel-operated medium and heavy goods vehicles with BS-IV or older standards are banned in Delhi.</li>
<li>Non-essential light commercial vehicles that are registered outside Delhi are not allowed to enter Delhi, except those running on EV, CNG or BS-VI diesel.</li>
