In the suicide case of Indian techie Atul Subhash, the police on Saturday (Dec 14) arrested his estranged wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha and brother Anurag for abetment to suicide.

The arrests were made days after the 34-year-old techie accused Nikita and her family of extortion and harassment in an over-an-hour-long video&nbsp;and died by suicide.

In the suicide note, Atul wrote in detail about the mental agony he went through because of his in-laws.&nbsp;

On the morning of December 14, the police arrested Nikita from the Indian city of Gurugram and his mother-in-law and brother-in-law were nabbed in the Indian city of Allahabad. The police brought all of them to Bengaluru where they were produced before the magistrate.

The police had registered an FIR against the accused at the Marathahalli police. After Atul's wife Nikita went absconding, a notice was pasted by the Bengaluru Police outside her residence in Jaunpur city of Uttar Pradesh asking her to appear in the next three days.

Gunjan claimed that their relationship was "serious" and both of them frequently used to visit hotels together and also shared stays at Avnish's house in the Katihar district.&nbsp;

Addressing a public meeting here after inaugurating developmental projects to improve the city's infrastructure and provide better amenities to pilgrims during the Kumbh Mela, the prime minister said the differences of castes and sects disappear at the event.

The prime minister inaugurated 167 key development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore. The projects also included Sah'AI'yak Chatbot -- an Artificial Intelligence-based platform to streamline communication for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh.

"The Maha Kumbh is a mahayagya of unity," Modi said. "It will take the country's cultural and spiritual identity to new heights."

"In the last Kumbh, I had the good fortune of taking a bath at the Sangam and today, once again, I received blessings at the feet of Ganga," Modi said.

The 2025 Maha Kumbh will be held from January 13 (Paush Poornima) to February 26 (Maha Shivratri) at Prayagraj. It will be the world's largest religious gathering and more than 40 crore people are expected during the 45-day event.

"During previous governments, the importance of Kumbh was not recognised. The devotees kept facing problems at such events, but the governments of the day did not care. The reason for this was their disassociation from Indian culture," said the PM.

"But today but there is a government at the Centre as well as in the state which respect faith and Indian culture." The prime minister highlighted the development of various cultural circuits like the Ramayana, Krishna, and Buddhist circuits, and said they were previously underappreciated.

In his address, the PM acknowledged the contribution of sanitation workers, saying they play a key role in their successful conduct by ensuring cleanliness at such large-scale events.

"More than 15,000 sanitation workers will ensure cleanliness during the 2025 Kumbh," he said, expressing his gratitude towards them.

The prime minister recalled his personal experience of washing the feet of sanitation workers in 2019, which he described as a memorable moment of his life.

Modi also stressed Maha Kumbh's potential in empowering communities economically. "Kumbh not only gives social strength but also provides economic empowerment of the people," Modi said.

Earlier, the prime minister arrived in the city around 12.30 pm and began the visit with ceremonial puja and darshan at the holy Sangam Nose -- the point of confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the Saraswati rivers.

He undertook a river cruise before the puja. Wearing a white kurta-pajama, blue jacket and sporting a maroon shawl, Modi arrived at the Sangam Nose on the Nishadraj Cruise, boarding it via the floating jetty at Kila Ghat.&nbsp;

He was received at the confluence point by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel. The prime minister also interacted with saints and greeted them with respect.

A saint presented him with a pearl garland as a token of blessings, the Uttar Pradesh government said in a statement.

It said Modi performed the 'aarti' of the Triveni (Sangam Nose), praying for global welfare and harmony. PM Modi also sought the blessings of prominent saints.

Amid the chanting of Vedic mantras, the prime minister performed rituals including 'Jalabhishek' and 'Dudhbhishek' at the Triveni. Following this, he performed the Sangam Aarti.

At least six schools in Delhi received bomb threat e-mails Friday morning (Dec 13), prompting authorities to swiftly launch search operations on the premises. However, soon after getting rescued, the officials rushed the boy to a nearby hospital in an unconscious state where the doctors declared him dead. “The boy has been taken out and rushed to hospital," said an official to the media, while speaking about the operation.&nbsp;

The child, who was identified as Aryan, fell into the borewell when he was playing in a field located in Kalikhad village on Monday (Dec 9).

An hour after the boy fell into the borewell, the rescue operation was initiated by the authorities.&nbsp;

According to the NDRF personnel, who were carrying out the operation, various challenges were coming up in the operation which included the water level which they had estimated to be nearly 160 feet.&nbsp;

They said that they were even facing trouble in capturing the movements of the boy on camera because of steam underground.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Relief (SDRF) personnel were working together to rescue Aryan.&nbsp;

They were constantly supplying oxygen to the boy through a pipe. The rescue teams also were watching the movements of the boy through the camera which was inserted into the borewell.&nbsp;

Kumar added that a huge crowd had gathered to see the rescue operation as the team&nbsp;tried to rescue the minor at the earliest.&nbsp;

When the digging proved futile, a rope was tied around the child in the borewell to pull him out.&nbsp;

The Tamil Nadu government declared a holiday for schools in Chennai and nearby districts on Thursday due to heavy rains that began on Wednesday night.

District Collectors of Villupuram, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Ramanathapuram, Dindigul, Cuddalore, and Pudukkottai have also announced holidays in schools there.

Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Puducherry has declared a holiday for both schools and colleges on Thursday.

A well-marked low-pressure area is currently positioned over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast.

The system, with associated upper-air cyclonic circulation extending up to mid-tropospheric levels, is expected to move west-northwestward towards the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts in the next 24 hours.

This is likely to result in heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region.

Chennai has received 845 mm, which is 16 per cent above average, while Coimbatore witnessed a significant 47 per cent increase in rainfall.

Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea, and those already at sea are urged to return to shore immediately.

This alert follows the devastation caused by Cyclone Fengal, which impacted Tamil Nadu and Puducherry between November 29 and December 1.

The weather system lay in the Palk Strait region, which is a narrow strip of ocean separating the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the island nation of Sri Lanka.

The IMD maintains that the system is likely to move west-northwestwards towards the southern coast of Tamil Nadu, following which it will weaken into a 'low-pressure area' around Friday, 13th December. For Friday, a yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for 12 districts spanning the western and southern regions of Tamil Nadu.&nbsp;

With winds forecast to be gusting at 55 kmph until Saturday, 14th December, fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing out along the Tamil Nadu Coast. Similar conditions are expected to prevail along parts of the Kerala coast as well, and a warning has been issued for fishermen.&nbsp;

Over the last 24 hours, a maximum of 18 cm of rainfall has been recorded in Kodiayakarai, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Chennai city and adjoining regions have also witnessed around 10 cm of rainfall.&nbsp;

In light of the rainfall alert, five teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are on standby for deployment, with 30 personnel in each team.
