While speaking at the National Quality Conclave, Singh congratulated the Indian armed forces, stating that the terror camps in Pakistan and PoK were neutralised, calling it a matter of pride for the entire nation.

Earlier today, in an all-party meeting, the defence minister told the leaders that Op Sindoor was an "ongoing operation" and that India will hit back if Pakistan attacks in the wake of India's targeted strike.&nbsp;
According to news agencies, Singh also said that 100 terrorists were killed in the Indian strikes, and the count is still ongoing as the operation is underway, and it was difficult to provide an exact number.
The Union government, on Thursday (May 8), held an all-party meeting to brief the opposition parties about India's affirmative action taken against the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 people were shot dead by Pakistani terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran meadow.

However, Pakistan's attempt at escalation was "negated" by Indian forces, their drones and missiles "neutralised" by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems, added the release.

As per the Ministry of Defence, Pakistan, in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, has "increased the intensity of its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control using Mortars and heavy calibre Artillery," targeting areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the dastardly terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on Wednesday (May 7). After the briefing by India's foreign secretary, the government said on Thursday that 13 civilians had been killed by Pakistani fire in "ceasefire violations" along their de facto border since Wednesday.

The sentiment in military-diplomatic ranks, though, is that General Asim Munir, who only a week ago warned a 'swift and notched-up response' against any Indian 'military misadventure', has no option but to militarily respond to rally everyone around him in his beleaguered country. "There will be great pressure on him to authorise some kind of a response," a senior officer was quoted saying to The Times of India.
Pakistan had managed to surprise India with its 'Operation Swift Retort', a day after the IAF carried out the Balakot pre-dawn air hits on Feb 26, 2019, in retaliation against the Pulwama terror strike in which 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives.
"Lessons have been learnt. It will not be so easy this time. The armed forces, for their part, have inducted a number of new weapon systems since Balakot in 2019. The Russian-origin <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/s-400">S-400</a> surface-to-air missile systems, capable of detecting and destroying enemy strategic bombers, fighters, missiles and drones at a distance of 380-km, for example, are now integrated into the IAF's integrated air command and control system (IACCS).
At the other end of the spectrum, there are the older Igla-1M air defence systems and the newer shoulder-fired Igla-S missiles with an interception range of up to 6kms.

Araghchi will also have a&nbsp; meeting with India's External Affairs minister <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/jaishankar" rel="dofollow">S Jaishankar</a> at Hyderabad House on Wednesday (May 8). Earlier on Monday (May 5), the Iranian Embassy in India announced that the Iranian foreign minister will be travelling to India following a visit to Islamabad, where he would meet with Pakistani officials.
The Iranian foreign minister had issued an appeal for peace to prevail in the neighbourhood in a tweet on April 25. His peace call came following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam targeting mostly tourists, which killed 26 people.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Upendra Dwivedi, is closely monitoring the ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army and is constantly communicating with local formations along the LoC. Meanwhile, a shell fired from Pakistan struck Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha in Poonch district, causing some structural damage.&nbsp;
