According to the teen's family, she came out of the department crying and sought help from another patient's relative.

The teen's mother rushed to her daughter when she heard her crying, and alerted the police.

The word about the incident spread quickly, triggering outrage. The victim's family gathered at the hospital and protested against the incident.

Accused arrested

After informing the police about the incident, they intervened to rescue the accused, Aman Raj, from the mob. He was later arrested based on the teen's family member's complaint.

People across the nation have already been protesting against the sexual assault case that happened last month when a trainee female doctor was brutally raped and murdered in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Moreover, the hospital authorities assured that while the police are investigating the matter, the internal complaints committee of the hospital will also start a probe.

These incidents have raised questions about security at the state-run hospitals in West Bengal.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that the country needs "faster decisions" in cases of crimes against women to ensure their safety. This comes after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requested PM Modi for stringent central legislation and exemplary punishment for crimes like rape and murder.
