Eight killed, several injured after bus catches fire in India's Haryana

The bus caught fire early Saturday.

At least eight people were killed, and several othersinjured in the Indian state of Haryana when the bus they were travellingin caught fire on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Nuh. A report by the news agency PTI said that the accident occurred early Saturday (May 18).

The police said that the buswas carrying around 60 people, all of whom were residents of Punjab and Chandigarh and were returning from Mathura-Vrindavan.

Locals noticed the fire, chased the bus, and asked the driver to stop. They also informed the police and the fire department.

Meanwhile, Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed expressed condolences over the tragic incident. "I would say that this is a very painful, sad, and heart-wrenching incident. The devotees were returning from Vrindavan. The bus caught fire and several people including elderly, women, and children got injured...," Ahmed told the news agency ANI.
