World Heritage Day: How India's Red Fort celebrated and honoured nation's symbol of strength
Red Fort on World Heritage Day
As the world celebrates and honours its heritage sites, India’s Red Fort lit up with the tricolour of its national flag on World Heritage Day, observed on April 18. Monument Mitra- Dalmia Bharat Ltd. organised an exclusive heritage walk around the campus of Red Fort to educate about the rich history of Delhi, capital of India.
With an aim to rediscover India’s glorious history, the walk was hosted by Anas Khan, Founder of Unzip Delhi, a social anthropologist and a popular content creator. Taking a journey in time, the walk began from Sunheri Masjid, through Delhi Darwaza, to the historic Lahori Darwaza and the Chatta Chowk Bazar.
They took World Heritage Day as an opportunity to make the young and old connect with the global tourist attraction by highlighting world class amenities and state-of-the-art shows which help map the length and breadth of the national symbol. There are 3 major attractions at the Red Fort - The Red Fort Visitor Centre, Mathrubhumi Projection Mapping and Jai Hind Sound & Light show.
Launched in July 2022, the Red Fort Centre is housed in a 19th century British barrack and provides visitors a walkthrough of the Red Fort before they go and see the actual fort. Mathrubhumi – Projection Mapping Show captures the journey of India over 5,000 years through projection mapping and laser on the magnificent front facade of the Red Fort. It showcases the ancient Harappan civilisation and the Vedic age, dynasties like the Mauryas, Cholas and Guptas and how India hasexcelled in the field of spirituality, philosophy, mathematics, science, and economics.

For anyone who has a memory of visiting Red Fort will not forget the Light & Sound show that has been there since ages. The new show called Jai Hind - Red Fort Sound & Light Show offers a more dramatic presentation of the history of India from the 17th century to the present day. The show is a fusion of several forms of performance art – projection mapping, live-action films, advanced light and sound effects, actors, dancers, and puppets.
Puneet Dalmia, MD of Dalmia Bharat said, “Jai Hind is the first Sound and Light show ever to showcase live actors and hi-tech projection mapping technology at a heritage site. I invite schools and college students, government departments and tourists from across India to watch this world class production.”
Dalmia Bharat Ltd. has adopted the nation’s iconic 17th century heritage site, Red Fort, as part of the Indian government’s “Adopt a Heritage” project by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
