Dating trends refuse to die down. Several of them are doing the rounds at any point in time. The latest one involves married people looking to cheat on their spouses.
The controversial dating trend involves red bell peppers. It was exposed on an online forum on a dating site for married people who want to have an affair.
According to the post, those looking to seek a lover, should pick up two red bell peppers and place them in their shopping trolley with the stem facing downwards. It has been termed a "secret handshake but with veg".
"What if we start a secret code in the most mundane place of all – THE SUPERMARKET," the person who posted it wrote. "It’s perfect! No one would ever suspect that your weekly food shop could lead to something a lot more... sizzling."
The person added, "Think about it. You’re casually browsing the aisles and suddenly you spot someone with the telltale peppers in their basket. Your eyes meet. There’s a knowing glance. An instant connection, all thanks to a couple of peppers."
The post received mixed reactions. One person came out and said they had actually tried the trend recently in a UK supermarket after seeing someone else doing the same.

"There was a bit of an awkward smile and we spoke for a bit. I don't think we were quite right for each other but it was nice to have a chat with someone else who clearly isn't happy in their relationship," they wrote.
The post garnered a lot of traffic and people were surprised by how many people were interested to known about the trend.
A similar trend took off in Spain recently where people were placing pineapples "upside down" in their shopping cart in order to tell other people that they were looking for a relationship.
Those looking to "hook up" need to reach a Mercadona store between 7 and 8 pm where they should then pick up a pineapple and place it upside down in their trolley. Move to the wine aisle next to spot others with pineapples placed in an upside-down position in their cart.
If sparks fly and you like someone, bump your trolley with theirs. If the other person is interested, they do the same and a conversation begins.
