Bollywood star Akshay Kumar wants his fans to know that his son Aarav Kumar, born in 2022, is nothing like a typical star kid. In a recent interview, he revealed that his son, who turned 21 last year, doesn't wish to explore a career in acting, instead, he wants to pursue a career in fashion. And despite being a star kid and coming from a privileged background, he lives a simple life, buys clothes from thrift stores and cooks his own meals.
Speaking candidly during the first episode of cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s new talk show, Dhawan Karenge, Kumar expressed, "I am happy the way Twinkle and I have brought up Aarav; he is a very simple boy. My daughter, on the other hand, likes clothes..."
Kumar added, "We never forced him to do anything; he is interested in fashion; he doesn’t want to be a part of cinema. He came to me and said, 'I don’t want to do films.' I said, 'This is your life, do what you want to do'."
Aarav also doesn't like to keep a maid to help him with his chores and doesn't like splurging on expensive clothes. Walking in his father's footsteps, Aarav left his home when he was just 15 years old to study abroad. While Akshay was against this decision, he allowed his son to do what he wanted to do.
Akshay shared, "My son Aarav is studying at the university in London. He left home at the age of 15. He was always fond of studying and wanted to stay alone. It was his decision to move even though I didn’t want him to go. However, I could not stop him because I left my home at the age of 14... He does his own laundry, he is a good cook, does the utensils and doesn’t even want to buy expensive clothes. In fact, he goes to a second-hand store, Thrifty, to buy clothes because he doesn’t believe in wastage."
