Ishaan Khatter praises Priyanka Chopra for opening doors to Hollywood for other actors

Ishaan Khatter is all hearts for Priyanka Chopra and he believesshe has opened the doors of Hollywood for Indian actors. Khatter recently played the role of Shooter Duval in the Netflix series The Perfect Couple.

In a conversation with News18, he reacted to a fan comment praising his talent and predicting that he would be valued in Hollywood, comparing him to Priyanka, who is known for breaking into the international film industry.

Responding to the compliment, Ishaan praised Priyanka, stating, "She’s opened so many doors and she’s a trailblazer. So, many, many props to her for that. That’s a lovely thing to say. I am fortunate to receive these wonderful opportunities, and I am most keen to go wherever the good work is.”

Ishaan also expressed excitement about his evolving career and new projects. He acknowledged that there has been a gap between his recent work, but noted how he’s grown both personally and professionally. "I am looking a little more grown up, feeling it also (laughs). I am just glad the series is out, and I am excited for everything that is to come.”

In his role as Shooter Duval in The Perfect Couple, Ishaan plays the best man and childhood friend of the groom. The character was originally written as white in the source material but director Susanne Bier cast Ishaan based on his talent, breaking away from traditional casting expectations. Reflecting on his time working with Nicole Kidman and other accomplished actors, Ishaan told People, "They’re all professionals and very generous and kind.”

The series, which was filmed over four months in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, allowed Ishaan to bond with the cast through activities like whale watching and wine tasting. The show premiered on Netflix on September 5.

Next, Ishaan will play a pivotal role in The Royals, where he will play Prince Charming.
