Matthew Perry, best-known for playing Chandler Bing in the much-loved sitcom Friends, died in October 2023. The actor, who has long struggled with drug abuse and addiction died from the acute effects of ketamine.
Jasveen Sangha, the woman known as "Ketamine Queen", has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to selling drugs that led to the death of Friends actor Matthew Perry.
Perry was found dead in a bathtub of his Los Angeles home in October 2023. He was 54 years old. Later, it was revealed that Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine, which led to him losing his consciousness and drowning in the hot tub.

On Wednesday (April 8), US District Judge Sherilyn Garnett announced the sentence for Sangha, who pleaded guilty last September to five charges in connection with Perry's death, including one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in the overdose death of Perry.

Sangha, who is a dual citizen of the United States and the United Kingdom, was in custody since August 2024.

She had supplied 51 vials of ketamine to a go-between dealer, Erik Fleming, 55, who then sold the doses to Perry through his live-in personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, 60.
Described as "drug-selling emporium," by the prosecutors, Sangha has been providing the drugs to wealthy clients in North Hollywood.
“You’re going to have to show some epic resilience,” Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett said to Jasveen Sangha in hearing.
“For years…Sangha operated a high-volume drug trafficking business out of her North Hollywood residence,” prosecutors argued.
“To cultivate her business, [Sangha] marketed herself as an exclusive dealer who catered to high-profile Hollywood clientele. While [Sangha] worked to expand and profit from her drug trafficking, she knew – and disregarded – the grave harm her conduct was causing.”
Prosecutors say that in October 2023, Sangha worked with Erik Fleming, who has been the actor’s “acquaintance”. And he was the middleman, who provided 51 vials of ketamine to the actor's live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa. Iwamasa used to inject Perry with the short-acting anesthetic. In the court documents, it was revealed that Perry's final words before his death from the acute effects of ketamine was telling his assistant Iwamasa to help him take the ketamine. On the day he died, the actor took the drug thrice. Perry reportedlytold her, "Shoot me up with a big one," referring to a dose of ketamine.
Apart from Sangha, the other defendants charged in this case are: Mark Chavez, 55, of San Diego, a physician, Fleming, Iwamasa and Salvador Plasencia, 43, a.k.a. “Dr. P,” of Santa Monica.
