
Director Anurag Kashyap is making his point very clear. The acclaimed filmmaker, who has left amark with his outstanding work in the Hindi cinema, has been known for putting his views clearly without mincing words.
On Saturday, Anurag blasted at the newcomers as he shared a lengthy post for those who have angered the filmmaker with their 'mediocre ideas'to the extent that he has now decided to charge fees for a casual meeting with him.
Sending everyone in a surprise, the Gangs of Wasseypur director wrote in the post shared on his Instagram handle that he's done with the mediocre s***, and moving forward he's not doing any charity here.
Sharing the post on Instagram, Kashyap wrote in the caption, "I mean it Don’t text or dm or call me. Pay and you will get time. I am not a charity and I am tired of people looking for shortcuts."
The statement read, "I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers and mostly ended up with mediocre s***. So, now onwards, I don't want to waste my time meeting random people who think they are creative geniuses.''
Anurag Kashyap's fee structure for the meeting: ₹1 lakh for 10-15 minutes
In the post, the annoyed filmmaker mentioned that he has new criteria for those who want to meet him and pitch their creative ideas. As per the post, he will now charge Rs 1 lakh ($1200) for 10-15 minutes meeting.
He wrote, ''I will now have rates. If someone wants to meet me for 10-15 minutes I will charge 1 lac, for half an hour 2 lacs and for 1 hour 5 lacs. That's the rate. I am tired of wasting time meeting people. If you really think you can afford it, call me or stay the f*** away. And all paid in advance. (sic)."
Like many of his comments, Anurag's post quickly went viral, garnering reactions from the celebrity.
Agreeing with Anurag, director Shekhar Kapoor commented, ''Honestly Anuraag .. I often feel the same way !''
Indian actress Shahana Goswami commented, ''But Babu wouldn't people who can pay for your time more likely waste your time as much, if not more.. ? I agree with the first part but then maybe don't meet anyone.. let destiny make.you meet your collaborators accidentally?.''
On the work front, Anurag Kashyap is set to make his Malayalam film debut as an actor in Aashiq Abu's Rifle Club.
The film also stars Dileesh Pothan, Vani Viswanath, Vijayaraghavan, Vincy Aloshious, and Unnimaya Prasad. The movie will be released on Onam 2024. He has also a neo-noir thriller Kennedy set for release. Starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, the movie premiered at the 76th Canes Film Festival last year. However, the release date of the movie has not been revealed.
