"SSC (Shanaka's first-class club) would probably be conducting their own inquiry as well," SLC CEO Ashely De Silva was quoted saying to&nbsp;ESPNCricinfo.
"SLC and the club knew I had to leave," Shanaka said. "I only came back because there was a request from the SSC to play this first-class match. But my other team wanted me back, as I'd helped win two games for them earlier in the tournament."
He was one of the three players who were recalled by SSC for the match against Moors, as they were trying to avoid relegation. The 33-year-old played the first two days against Moors, bowling 21 overs and then made an unbeaten 39 at the end of day two.
Before he left the field on Day 3, Shanaka had reached 123 off 87 balls. But the medium pacer did not bowl in Moor's second innings, and was not available for the rest of the day.
But a few hours later, Shanaka appeared for the Capitals in the ILT20 and made 34 off just 12 balls and it was then hailed as an example of commitment to the sport even amid such a tight schedule.
Thereafter, Shanaka played three more matches as the Capitals bagged the title beating Desert Vipres, and the Lankan made 21 off 10 balls in the chase of 190.

Shohaly admitted to being in breach of the following provisions of the Code:
Article 2.1.1: Fixing or contriving in any way or otherwise influencing improperly or being a party to any agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way or otherwise influence improperly, the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of any International Match, including (without limitation) by deliberately underperforming therein.
Article 2.1.3: Seeking, accepting, offering or agreeing to accept any bribe or other Reward to (a) fix or to contrive in any way or otherwise to influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of any International Match or (b) to ensure for Betting or other corrupt purposes the occurrence of a particular incident in an International Match.
Article 2.1.4: Directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach any of the foregoing provisions of this Article 2.1.
Article 2.4.4: Failing to disclose to the ACU (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations received by the Participant to engage in Corrupt Conduct under the Anti-Corruption Code.
Article 2.4.7: Obstructing or delaying any investigation that may be carried out by the ACU in relation to possible Corrupt Conduct under the Anti-Corruption Code (by any Participant), including (without limitation) concealing, tampering with or destroying any documentation or other information that may be relevant to that investigation and/or that may be evidence of or may lead to the discovery of evidence of Corrupt Conduct under the Anti-Corruption Code.
Having admitted the charges, Shohaly accepted a sanction of a five-year period of ineligibility starting 10 February 2025.
The charges relate to corrupt approaches made in relation to matches in the ICC Women&rsquo;s T20 World Cup 2023 held in South Africa.&nbsp;

The main issue with Sri Lanka has been consistency and former SL skipper Aravinda de Silva says that system has to back the talent.
"I think we have always had talent and I don't see any thing of talent being available but I guess it's consistency that is missing. For consistency it involves a lot of things, I think the system also needs to feed and support that (talent) to be sustainable. It is like any other business or an enterprise.&nbsp;
"You need to have the foundation right to make sure that the consistency prevails so I guess that is what I see is lacking. I don't see any lacking of talent. For me the lacking comes from system and also the processes of getting some of these players through," said de Silva on the sidelines of a recent charity match while talking to WION.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to start from February 19 in Pakistan. This is the first time since 1996 ODI World Cup that Pakistan are hosting an ICC tournament.They had co-hosted the 1996 ODI WC along with India and Sri Lanka. India, meanwhile, will play all its three league matches in Dubai, UAE. This is as per the agreed upon hybrid model with the ICC and PCB. India start their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at 2:30 pm India time before taking on arch-rival Pakistan on February 23 (2:30 pm India time). India play their final group-stage match against New Zealand on March 2 (2:30 pm India time). The first semi-final will also be played in Dubai irrespective of India making it or not. The second semi-final, however, will be played in Lahore, Pakistan. The final, on March 9, will be played in Lahore if India fails to qualify and in Dubai if the opposite happens. The hybrid model came in place due to political tensions between India and Pakistan because of which BCCI declined to send the team to Pakistan. A total of eight teams, i.e. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, England, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa are divided in two groups for the tournament. Muralitharan also highlighted the crucial role spinners will play in the tournament, given the conditions in Pakistan and the UAE. "Spin will be vital because the pitches in these countries favour spinners. Teams like India, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh all have strong spin attacks," he said.

Speaking highly of Pakistan, knowing the gravity of the damage they can do on their day, Shastri said, "There&rsquo;s always pressure when you play at home in the subcontinent &ndash; whether it&rsquo;s India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, or Pakistan &ndash; the expectations are massive.
&ldquo;But, I think Pakistan are the kind of side that, with the exposure they&rsquo;ve had in the last six to eight months in white-ball cricket, have put up some really strong performances, especially in South Africa.&nbsp;They've missed Ayub at the top, and he&rsquo;s a crucial player."&nbsp;
"But Pakistan have enough depth to be dangerous, especially in home conditions. I would say they should qualify for the semi-finals, and from there, it&rsquo;s anyone&rsquo;s game.&nbsp;Pakistan are still very, very dangerous, and if they qualify, they&rsquo;ll be doubly more dangerous," Shastri said in a conversation on The ICC Review.
<h2>Ponting echoes same words</h2>
Having played and won (2006 and 2009) a few editions of the ICC Champions Trophy during his time, Ponting expressed the same feelings over what to expect out of Pakistan in this multi-team tournament.
"I agree with Ravi. Saim Ayub is a high-quality player, and his absence is a massive gap to fill. But Pakistan&rsquo;s fast bowling brigade is very, very good.
