India coach Gautam Gambhir congratulated Bangladesh for their recent 2-0 Test series win against Pakistan but asserted that the upcoming series against India is a new one. The comments came ahead of the first Test between the two sides which starts on September 19 in Chennai.

"I Congratulate them for what they did in Pakistan. But this is a new series and they are a quality side and we want to play good cricket. Yes they have experience in Shakib, Mushfiqur and Mehidy but we want to be switched on from the first ball," said Gambhir while talking to the reporters ahead of the first Test of the two-match series.

"I have been big believer that we don't fear anyone but we respect everyone. It is the same with Bangladesh. We don't look at the opposition and play the game we know," he added.

Gambhir also lauded pacer Jasprit Bumrah and spin duo Ravi Ashwin andRavindra Jadeja for changing the perception of India as a batting-obsessed nation.

"Jasprit Bumrah is the best fast bowler in the world, across formats. It's great to have Bumrah in the dressing room, someone who can change the game at any point of time," Gambhir said.

"India is a batting-obsessed nation. But Bumrah, Ashwin, and Jadeja are changing that. Bumrah is smart in Test cricket. It is good these guys are changing the trend," the coach added.

India have a bumper Test season coming up with the Rohit Sharma-led side set to host New Zealand after the two Tests against Bangladesh.

India then travel to Australia for the highly-anticipated five-Test Border-Gavaskar series in November, where they aim to win a Test series for the third consecutive time.

India last lost to Australia in a Test series in 2014, which was played in Australia. Since then, India have won all four series played between the two countries, two in India and two in Australia.
