IPL 2024: KKR's multi-million dollar bowler Mitchell Starc says 'T20s can be brutal at times'

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Mitchell Starc, bought for INR 24.75 crore ($3 million around), hasn't had the best of starts at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. He went for 100 runs in eight overs without taking a single wicket in KKR's first two games.
The Aussie, however, managed to break the jinx with 2/25 against Delhi Capitals on April 3. While the beginning hasn't been ideal for Starc who has returned to the league after an eight-year hiatus, the pacer is content with the win of the team.

"In a game of T20, we all need a little bit of luck, a few edges go by, a dropped catch or two, that's T20 cricket," he said after KKR's third win on the trot.
"You move on pretty quickly because the games come thick and fast. Yeah, probably not the start I wanted, but we've been winning games, so that's what it's about. We're three-nil. And tonight, with bat and ball, we were pretty good, I think.
"It can be brutal at times, particularly on the bowlers [in T20 cricket]. I think we've seen on some of the grounds, some of the scores… so yeah, you take a little bit of luck here and there. Yeah, we're three-nil at the start of the season, and tonight we were pretty clinical with bat and ball. Personal stuff aside, the team's start has been fantastic," added Starc.

As for the match, KKR posted IPL history's second-highest score, finishing at 272/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing the mammoth total, DC were never in the hunt after being reduced to 33/4 inside five overs. Skipper Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs then added 93 runs for the fifth wicket in just 47 balls to give Delhi a glimmer of hope.
After Pant (55 off 25) and Stubbs (54 off 32 balls) got out, DC were effectively done in the game. They were finally bowled out for 166 in 17.2 overs, losing the game by 106 runs.
