
The upskilling of India's workforcewith the deployment of Artificial Intelligence tools is redefining the workplaces of 2024 in the world's third largest economy. The Indian workforce is addingAI into their existing skill set at a meteoric speed, WION has reported in the past.
Now it has emerged that for India's workplaces that are opting for AI in their work processes, the AI core skills feature among the top 5 most in-demand skills.
According to an Indeed report, most wanted skills for AI jobs in India are Machine learning, Python, AI core skills, Communication skills, and Natural language processing.
According to projections by the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), India's AI market is experiencing explosive growth. It is expected to reach $17 billionby 2027, driven by a 25-35 per cent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR).

However, this rapid expansion is creating a significant skills gap between the existing workforce and the AI-savvy Gen-Z workforce that's entering the job market.
To bridge this gap and thrive in the AI era, it is crucial for job seekers to be aware of and acquire the most in-demand AI skills.
Indeed’s data points out that 42 per centof generative AI jobs in India mention “Machine learning”,while 40 per cent ask for “Python” skills. Python is highly valued for its flexibility in AI and machine learning. AI core skills and communication skills are also sought after, appearing in 36 per cent and 23 per cent of job ads, respectively.
Other skills that are in demand are Natural language processing (20 per cent), TensorFlow (19 per cent), and Data Science (17 per cent).

The latest Indeed dataset shows that interest in AI jobs has risen sharply in recent years in India.
Previously,surveys have pointed to theoverall optimism that Indian employers have towards AI.The time is now ripe for a tech-led skills transformation to help the Indian workforcelead the AI age.
