Bronstein, Gewirtz & Grossman, LLC, a law firm that focuses on securities litigation, has commenced an investigation regarding the securities of Toyota Motor Corp. Consumers have been advised to obtain more information and help authorities in the investigation by visiting the firm’s homepage. This investigation stems from a recent event described in the New York Times article published on June 3, entitled ‘ Toyota and Other Japanese Carmakers Say They Mishandled Safety Tests.’

As reported in the article, Toyota Motor and other Japanese automakers have exposed themselves to critique as they admitted that they fudged tests for multiple models in the last ten years based on reports from their internal investigations. Notably, Toyota announced its inability to collect adequate data on pedestrian and occupant safety tests for three models namely Yaris Cross sport utility vehicle and two other models.

Toyota acknowledged that its methods deviated from those approved by the Japanese government and admitted to failing to collect data during pedestrian and occupant safety testing. Additionally, it identified issues and errors in crash testing for four discontinued models, including the Isis and Sienta.

In reaction to this news, Toyota American Depositary Shares (“ADSs”) experienced a decline of USD 5.34 per ADS, representing a 2.5% decrease, closing at USD 212.17 on June 3.

Those who purchased Toyota securities and who wish to aid the investigation have been urged to contact Bronstein, Gewirtz & Grossman, LLC through their website. The firm intends to search for any legal actions that might arise from such exposures and fight for the rights of the investors.

Japan’s automotive industry has been under pressure in the current financial year particularly after Daihatsu, which is an affiliate of Toyota Motor Corporation, confessed to manipulating collision tests on some 88,000 units in the previous year. In December, a certain probe discovered that the manufacturers, particularly Toyota, had engaged in cheating on testing for as many as 64 models, which forced Toyota to close a factory for some time and change its management.

We present these scandals as saddening episodes that have negatively impacted the image of the Japanese automotive industry known for its excellent production and quality assurance systems. Therefore, a number of firms have reported slow feedback at home in latest period due to direct impact of mishandled testing.
