
Kia India has launched the EV9 electric MPV in the country at INR 1.3 crore (ex-showroom) for the GT Line variant. It is the second electric offering from the Korean carmaker in the country, after EV6 which was launched in June 2022. Based on the e-GMP platform, the model will be available in India via the Completely Built-Up or CBU mode and will be available at select Kia dealerships for test drives. The EV9 is aimed at customers who are dynamic and multi-faceted business professionals looking for hi-tech capabilities with a sensitivity for the environment.
Kia EV9 Design and Exterior:
The boxy and angular profile of the EV9 give it a futuristic look while the digital pattern lighting grille accentuates its modern and premium appeal. The model's design language follows an 'Opposites United' philosophy that combines contrasting qualities and opposing concepts to create something meaningful. The model features body-coloured exterior flush door handles and dynamic welcome function. At the rear, it gets Starmap LED rear combination lamp, glossy black beltline, LED rear fog lamps and hidden rear wiper.
Kia EV9 Interior and Technology:
Enter and the cabin and you are greeted with premiumness, comfort and spaciousness, thanks to the flat battery pack integrated into floor. The EV9 offers three-row powered seating with second row captain seats and massaging functionality. The single-unit Trinity panoramic display combines a 12.3-inch HD display instrument cluster, a 5-inch HD HVAC display, and a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen navigation system. Further, dual sunroof functionality and 64 color mood ambient lighting uplift passengers' mood.
Kia is offering 100+ connected features through its Kia Connect 2.0 functionality including a digital key that allows unlocking the vehicle without physical touch. The vehicle will get OTA or Over-the-air updates functionality to keep it updated and diagnose and fix it with 44 controller modules remotely. The highlight of the connectivity features is the V2X or Vehicle-to-Everything functionality which allows the vehicle to support homes, grids and other vehicles through its electricity backup. Infact, EV9 is the only vehicle in India to have V2X compatibility currently.
Kia EV9 Battery and Performance:
The Kia EV9 is powered by a 99.8 kWh battery that delivers a single-charge range of up to 561 kilometres, making it suitable for both city commutes and long drives. Using its ultra-fast charging capability, the battery can be juiced up from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes with a 350kW DC charger. The vehicle delivers 282.6 Kw of power and 700 Nm of torque while offering a ground clearance of 198 mm. It can cover a 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.3 seconds while achieving a drag coefficient of 0.28.
Kia EV9 Safety highlights:
In terms of safety, the EV9 offers 20 standard safety features and a suite of 27 ADAS or Advanced Driver Safety Systems features. The EV has also received 5 stars at the Euro NCAP and ANACAP crash test programs, proving its safety capabilities. Its standard safety features include 10-airbag system, ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), DBC (Downhill Brake Control), and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), to name a few.
ADAS features include Forward Collision Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert , Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and 360 Degree Camera, among others.
