Democratic strategist Van Jones says that people without papers are 'going to be scared tomorrow' after Republican candidate Donald Trump won the US Presidential Elections 2024. Trump beat Democratic candidate Kamala Harris with a clear mandate and reached the 270 electoral votes mark with big wins in swing states.
“There are going to be people tomorrow who are going to be handing clothes at the dry cleaners to people who don’t have papers. There are going to be people who are going to be cleaning your teeth tomorrow who don’t have papers. And they are terrified tonight,” Jones said, as reported by the news outlet the Hill.

Jones also raised the concerns of Black women and transgenders in an interview with CNN, saying people who supported Harris are going to bed with a nightmare.
“They thought tomorrow morning they were going to walk out with their shoulders back a little bit, maybe be able to breathe for the first time, and feel like they belong someplace. They did everything that they knew how to do, and it’s going to be harder than it should be tomorrow for them to hold their heads up, and they’re not the only people who are hurting tonight,” said the strategist.

“If you’re a parent of a trans kid, your child’s face was used as a springboard to power for somebody. That doesn’t feel good,” Jones added.
“It’s people who woke up this morning with a dream and are going to bed with a nightmare,” he concluded.
Addressing a roaring crowd of supporters at his election night watch party at the West Palm Beach Convention Centre in Florida, Trump said that the poll results were historic and that he would not rest until he and his Republican Party delivered a strong and prosperous America.
In his rousing victory speech, Trump said, "We are going to help our country heal, we are going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help and it needs help very badly."
Trump will be the 47th President of the United States, replacing Joe Biden, who had beaten Trump in a tumultuous 2020 election.
