Coronavirus: US records less than 1,000 deaths for seventh day in a row

The United States in the last 24 hours witnessed 840 deaths from the novel coronavirus, according to the data from Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday, the seventh consecutive day where the daily death toll was below 1,000.
Despite this encouraging fall in deaths, the number of new cases continues to remain around 20,000 on a daily basis, with six states recording their highest number of coronavirus infections.
The outbreak has moved from the previous epicentre New York and the northeast and spread widely in the south and the west.
However, US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the country would not close businesses again, saying "we won't have to do that," in an interview with Fox News Channel.
