As US trade deficit grows, Trump says 'I don't blame China'

China today signed a deal to buy 300 Boeing airplanes even as President Trump pointed at "one-sided and unfair" US trade deficit with Beijing.

During thesigning of the multi-billion dollar US-China Boeing deal, Trump said: After all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the sake of its citizens?" adding, "this out-of-control trade deficit to take place and to grow".

"I don't blame China," Trump told Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"We have to fix this because it just doesn't work, for our great American companies, and it doesn’t work for our great American workers," Trump added.

America's Boing and European company Airbus have been competing hard for several years to corner the Chinese market which has grown exponentially.

According to the data by Civil Aviation Administration of China, 487 million the number of domestic and international journeys made last year in China.

The surge in air traffic has been fueled by a growing middle class in China with analysts predicting China will surpass the US as the world's largest commercial aviation market by 2030.

During the meeting with Trump, Xi said: "I will encourage Chinese businesses to do more investment in US and at the same time, invite more US companies to take part in One Belt One Road."

"To keep opening up is our long-term strategy. We will not narrow or close our doors. We will open wider and wider," the Chinese president added.
