Airbnb announced on Thursday that it will start sharing information of the customers booking accommodation in China with the Chinese government.

The online-home sharing giant said in its clarification the move is to comply with local laws and regulations of China.
"Like all businesses operating in China," the airline spokesperson reportedly said.
The hosts that will be listing accommodation on site will also have to share details after they start to accept bookings.
Hosts who don't want to share this information have to option to de-list themselves from the site using new 'deactivate my China listing' button.

Airbnb is one of few companies based out of China to get hold of China's market, with reportedly 140,000 listings.
Travellers staying in private homes also required registering their accommodation details with the police within 24 hours of arriving.
