What does Cannes Honour mean for India?

India has been chosen as the first ever official country of honor at the Cannes film market which is the business side of the famous film festival. Last week India's union information and broadcasting minister announced that the honor has been bestowed as India celebrates 75 years of independence and this year also marks 75 years of the film festival.
