US: Congress passes 45-day stopgap measure, averts government shutdown

In order to avoid a costly government shutdown, the US Congress enacted a temporary funding plan that excludes President Joe Biden's requested aid for war-torn Ukraine. This will keep the federal government open until mid-November.
