Several infrastructure projects in India fail the monsoon test

India’s road infrastructure has witnessed a significant expansion during the last decade, growing by over 60 percent, from 91,287 km as of March 2014 to 146,560 km as of March 2025. The country’s total road network is the second-largest in the world, with over 6.34 million km, of which over 4.5 million km are paved, and 1.4 million km are national highways.
