In a major political upset in Nepal, rapper-turned-politician Balendra Shah secured a massive mandate in the Jhapa constituency, defeating veteran leader K. P. Sharma Oli. Shah, representing Rastriya Swatantra Party, won 68,348 votes, far ahead of the 18,734 votes secured by Oli’s Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist).
The landslide result marks a significant shift in Nepal’s political landscape, highlighting the growing popularity of new-age leaders and independent voices challenging established political forces.
