Gabon coup: Suspension upheld by central African states

The economic community of central African states has announced that it is maintaining its suspension of Gabon, a sanction imposed following the military overthrow of President Ali Bongo Ondimba last august. ECOWAS follows in the footsteps of the economic community of west African states (ECOWAS) regional bloc which took drastic measures to isolate or issue sanctions to coup-hit countries in the region.
