Former Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena to contest elections again

In Sri Lanka, former President Maithripala Sirisena has said that he will contest the next presidential elections from the Sri Lanka freedom Party (SLFP). The Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in September 2024. Speaking to reporters in Colombo, the former president apologised to the victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday attack which had taken place during his tenure.
