During his visit to Panama, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth labeled China a growing threat to the Panama Canal. He emphasized that the US will not allow Beijing to disrupt operations of this vital global trade route. China, in response, urged Washington to stop what it calls “blackmail” against Panama.
