China declines the invitation to meet Lloyd Austin

Amid speculations of a possible thaw in US-China ties, China has now declined a US invitation for a meeting between defense secretary Lloyd Austin and his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu. According to the Pentagon he was invited for a meeting in Singapore this week on the sidelines of the Shangri-La dialogue. According to officials China declined the invitation overnight.
