Assam's War on Polygamy: The Assam Cabinet has approved the Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill, 2025, which makes polygamy a criminal offence punishable with rigorous imprisonment of up to seven years. The bill includes a provision to create a special fund to compensate women victims of polygamy.
