They will also get an option to choose whether they want to receive files from everyone, no one, or only from their contacts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The antitrust regulators are apparently drawing up charges against Meta over its use of customer data and the tying of classified advertisements service known as Marketplace, the sources mentioned.&nbsp;</p>

Zoom video calls on Tesla cars soon to be a reality?

<p>In an antitrust lawsuit,&nbsp;Apple Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. have been accused of&nbsp;conspiring to raise the price of the iPhone and iPad by eliminating practically all other resellers of new Apple products off Amazon's website.</p>

<p>An agreement that came to effect in January 2019 stipulated that Apple would give Amazon discounts of up to 10% on its products in exchange for Amazon allowing only seven out of 600 resellers to continue using its platform. This agreement was the subject of the proposed class action in federal court in Seattle, as per Bloomberg reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the complaint, after only carrying a small selection of Apple devices in addition to imitations, this made Amazon the preeminent reseller of new iPhones and iPads on its website.</p>

<p>"Erecting barriers to entry to keep competitors out and raising&nbsp;prices&nbsp;in the wake of their elimination is precisely the kind of conduct that Congress enacted antitrust laws to prevent," the complaint said. "The case is open and shut."</p>

<p>The lawsuit filed on Wednesday pertains to Americans who purchased brand-new iPhones and iPads from Amazon starting in January 2019.</p>

<p>The probe will look into the effects of the takeover "to determine whether its initial competition concerns are confirmed", the commission said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"By acquiring Activision Blizzard, Microsoft may foreclose access to Activision Blizzard's console and PC video games, especially to high-profile and highly successful games (so-called 'AAA' games) such as 'Call of Duty'," it said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In September, media reports stated that Microsoft's deal to buy Activision Blizzard might face an investigation in Brussels and the United Kingdom. Activision Blizzard makes the blockbuster "Call of Duty" game.&nbsp;</p>

Twitter begins using 'official' label for accounts associated with Indian government, media outlets

<p>U.S. chip maker Nvidia Corp said on Monday it is offering a new advanced chip in China that meets recent export control rules aimed at keeping cutting-edge technology out of China’s hands.</p>

<p>The new chip, called the A800, represents the first reported effort by a U.S. semiconductor company to create advanced processors for China that follow new U.S. trade rules. Nvidia has said the export limitations could cost it hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.</p>

<p>Nvidia’s comments confirmed reporting by Reuters that Chinese computer sellers are advertising products with the new chip.</p>

<p>US&nbsp;regulations set in early October effectively banned export of advanced microchips and equipment to produce advanced chips by Chinese chipmakers, part of an effort to hobble China’s semiconductor industry and in turn the military.</p>

<p>In late August, Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices Inc both said that their advanced chips, including Nvidia’s data center chip A100, were added to the export control list by the Commerce Department. The Nvidia A800 can be used in place of the A100, and both are GPUs, or graphics processing units.</p>

<p>Such advanced chips can cost thousands of dollars each.</p>

<p>“The Nvidia A800 GPU, which went into production in Q3, is another alternative product to the Nvidia A100 GPU for customers in China. The A800 meets the U.S. Government’s clear test for reduced export control and cannot be programmed to exceed it,” a Nvidia spokesperson said in a statement to Reuters.</p>

<p>At least two Chinese websites by major server makers offer the A800 chip in their products. One of those products previously used the A100 chip in promotional material.</p>

<p>A distributor website in China detailed the specifications of the A800. A comparison of the chip capabilities with the A100 shows that the chip-to-chip data transfer rate is 400 gigabytes per second on the new chip, down from 600 gigabytes per second on the A100. The new rules restrict rates of 600 gigabytes per second and up.</p>

<p>“The A800 looks to be a repackaged A100 GPU designed to avoid the recent Commerce Department trade restrictions,” said Wayne Lam, an analyst at CCS Insight, basing his comments on the specs shared by Reuters, and noting that eight is a lucky number in China.</p>

<p>“China is a significant market for Nvidia and it makes ample business sense to reconfigure your product to avoid trade restrictions,” said Lam.</p>

<p>Lam said the chip-to-chip communications abilities of the A800 represented a clear performance downgrade for a data center where thousands of chips are used together.</p>

<p>Major Chinese server makers Inspur and H3C which offer servers with the new chips did not respond to requests for comment. Neither did chip distributor OmniSky which posted the A800 specs online.</p>

<p>Nvidia has said that about $400 million worth of chip sales to China could be impacted in its fiscal third quarter ended in October due to the limits on high-end chips. Having a replacement chip could help lessen the financial blow.</p>

<p>Nvidia declined comment on whether it consulted the Commerce Department about the new chip. A Commerce Department spokesperson declined to comment.</p>

On Friday, the microblogging site closed its offices on a temporary basis and told the employees they would be informed by email whether or not they are retained.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As part of the global job cut, Twitter fired a large number of employees in India across verticals, including engineering, sales and marketing, and communications. According to sources, there is still no clarification on the severance payout for staff laid off in the country.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Indian media reports cited a source (a Twitter India employee), who said the lay-off has started. The employee told India-based news agency PTI on condition of anonymity that some of colleagues have received an email notification regarding the layoff.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They filed a class-action suit on Thursday in San Francisco federal court, claiming that the company’s decision to retrench the staff is in violation of federal and California law.</p>

<p>The petition has cited the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act which prohibits large companies from eliminating jobs without at least 60 days of advance notice.</p>

<p>In their lawsuit, they have urged the court to issue an order asking Musk to obey the WARN Act and restrict the company from forcing employees to sign documents that could give up their right to participate in litigation.</p>

<p>“We filed this lawsuit tonight in an attempt the make sure that employees are aware that they should not sign away their rights and that they have an avenue for pursuing their rights,” Shannon Liss-Riordan, the attorney who filed Thursday’s complaint, said in an interview to Bloomberg.</p>

<p>Many Instagram users have been locked out of their accounts as a result of an outage that began on Monday morning (October 31), and many are being told that their accounts will be suspended.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The photo-sharing app owned by Meta Platforms Inc, said that it was investigating a problem that was preventing thousands of its users from using the service.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Accounts of some Instagram users were suspended as a result of the outage. One user said that in order to reinstate a suspended account, the app had requested their email and phone number.&nbsp;</p>

The photo-sharing app owned by Meta Platforms Inc, said that it was investigating a problem that was preventing thousands of its users from using the service. Accounts of some Instagram users were suspended as a result of the outage. One user said that in order to reinstate a suspended account, the app had requested their email and phone number.
