Although numbers suggest Sanju has a better ODI average (55.71 in 13 matches) than SKY — who averages a mere 24.33 in 24 outings, Harbhajan opines Suryakumar is a complete player — someone who can hit from the ball one, unlike anyone playing in that position.</p>

<p>"Because the game that Suryakumar has in the middle over[s], I don't think Sanju has that game. Even he goes for big shots from the first ball, but the reliability Suryakumar gives you — he can score big. Sanju, I feel plays the kind of cricket where there is a lot of chances that you get out," Harbhajan added.</p>

<p>Drawing comparisons with stalwarts of the game, Harbhajan said Surya (at number five or six) plays a similar role to Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni.</p>

<p>"What he can do at that position, neither Virat [Kohli] can do, nor Sanju or Rohit Sharma. Because what he does it's a difficult job, batting at [No.] 5-6. What [MS] Dhoni has done, what Yuvi [Yuvraj Singh] has done," Bhajji opined.</p>

Backing Surya to crack open the bowling attack with his supreme ability to find gaps at will in more challenging conditions makes him the best in business.</p>

<p>"Because batting there is the toughest," Harbhajan said. "Opening in [one-dayers], you know where to score runs. You have a lot of time. But when you go in to bat after 20-25 overs, you need the game to know where you can find gaps to get boundaries, and I don't think anyone in the Indian team can do that better than Suryakumar."</p>

<p>Harbhajan added he would have Suryakumar in the playing XI given his presence creates pressure on the opposition.</p>

<p>"And if it was up to me, I would play him in the team. Because when he is in the team, it increases the pressure on the opposition. Whether he fires or not. Because till the time he is at the crease, there will be pressure because on any day he can play a match-winning innings. He can hit 50-60 runs in 20 balls," Harbhajan concluded.</p>

<p>However, Gambhir has explained his actions and made a big claim. The 2011 ODI World Cup-winning member claimed that not everything is shown on social media, alleging anti-India chants from Pakistan supporters in the crowd prompted him to make the controversial gesture. Thus, his action&nbsp;had nothing to do with Kohli chants.</p>

<h2><strong>'I can't hear things being said about my country'</strong></h2>

<p>Talking to the media on Monday (September 04), during&nbsp;India's final group stage game versus Nepal in Kandy, Gambhir said, "Whatever is shown on social media, there is no truth to it. People show what they want to show on social media. What actually happened was there were anti-India slogans being chanted, I heard chants of 'Hindustan Murdabad'. There were slogans about Kashmir also. So there will obviously be a reaction, one way or the other or laugh at it. There were a couple of Pakistani people... they were shouting anti-India stuff. Obviously, it was a natural reaction. I can't hear things being said about my country."</p>

<p>Gambhir further asserted, "That's why that reaction came out. If you talk bad about the country, what do expect me to do? Should I smile and go away or keep quiet? I am not that kind of a person. I just want to say this, when you have come to watch a match, support your team. There's no need to give political reactions there. There is no need to bring up Kashmir there. There is no need to speak ill about India. You support your team, your country. There were Indian crowd also, they were supporting their team."</p>

<p>Sympathising with the dropped players, Rohit said, "There are no surprises and you can only get 15 in. Some of the guys will be disappointed. I have gone through it and I know how it feels. We have good all-round options and this is the best 15 we could get."</p>

This is the first time that India will entirely host the edition. <p>Winning the toss, Rohit &amp; Co. opted to bowl first in another rain-predicted contest in Kandy. While Indian bowlers did produce quite a lot of chances, the fielders failed to complement with back-to-back dropped catches. Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer dropped easy chances as Nepal openers were off to a solid start.&nbsp;</p>

While Iyer got out on nine runs playing a pull shot, Gill could just score 10 off 32 balls before a Rauf jaffa hit his&nbsp;timber&nbsp;through his defence.</p>

<p>Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya then got together and had added 36 runs for the fifth wicket as India crossed 100-run mark in 20 overs. At the time of writing this report, Kishan was 32 not out and Pandya was unbeaten on 16.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite the early hiccups, Pakistan were at their dominant best. However, Ramiz feels the No. 1 ODI side should rest opener Fakhar Zaman for the India tie. Zaman&nbsp;has scores of 2, 30, 27 and 14 in his last four innings, respectively. Thus, the ex-PCB chief feels 'Zaman is the big problem'.</p>

<p>Ramiz said on his official YouTube channel. "The big problem is Fakhar Zaman. He is an unorthodox hitter, but when someone like that gets out of form, it takes some time to find solutions on the drawing board. He's a bottom-handed player, plays on the leg-side, somehow he adjusts with that and scores."</p>

Sidelining him is better for him as well as the Pakistan side. He's a good player, Pakistan has given him chances. But against India, with the form that he has, that chance is not worth being taken.”</p>

<p>It is to be noted that Zaman hasn't made it big in the last few innings but still has been among runs in the recent past. In the last 15 innings, he has four tons and a half-century under his belt. <p>Veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma opined on the difference in captaincy between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni and stated that the latter had groomed Indian bowlers before he stepped aside as the Test captain and handed over the reins to Kohli. CWC '23: SA legend Jacques Kallis predicts THIS English star to be the leading run-getter

<p>A day after the star Indian batter Virat Kohli posted an Instagram story revealing his Yo-Yo test score during the ongoing conditioning camp in Alur, Bengaluru, BCCI officials schooled&nbsp;players on what to post on social media and what not to. While they don’t have issues with players posting their pictures any time they like, the BCCI has asked them not to share confidential information as it is a breach of contract clause.</p>

<p>On Thursday, during day one of the six-day camp in Bengaluru, where the World Cup-bound players have assembled, preparing for the packed winter, Virat, among other seniors, underwent a mandatory Yo-Yo test, wherein the former captain attained the number of 17.2.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He posted a story on his Instagram handle, saying,&nbsp;“The happiness of finishing the Yo-Yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 don.”</p>

<p>It, however, didn’t go down well with the Indian Cricket Board, which looked at this as a breach of contract clause.</p>

<p>As reported in the Indian Express, the board officials have verbally asked players to take note of the dos and don’ts of posting stuff on social media. A BCCI official privy to the information told the media outlet, “Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training, but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause."</p>

As reported in the Indian Express, the board officials have verbally asked players to take note of the dos and don’ts of posting stuff on social media. A BCCI official privy to the information told the media outlet, “Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training, but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause." <p>"Pakistan have a great chance (in the World Cup). They have a very potent fast bowling unit. However, it gets neutralised on turning pitches. When it comes to batting, the performances of Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, and Babar Azam have been very good. Then there are Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Nawaz. These guys seem to be automatic choices for Pakistan," Latif told&nbsp;<i>Cricket Pakistan</i>.</p>

<p>The former Pakistani cricketer further took a dig at India but feels Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can give an edge to their team over Pakistan. "When you look at India or the other teams, they are struggling. India are struggling with their middle order. I believe Pakistan have a wonderful chance, and they should win the tournament by giving others a tough fight," Latif opined.</p>

<p>He added, "Out batters are a bit slow during the powerplay, and we don't have power hitters for the death overs. While we are very good with the ball in the powerplay, the main issue is the phase between the 11th and the 40th over. Our spinners haven't been able to take wickets in that period, be it Shadab Khan or Mohammad Nawaz. India, on the other hand, are very strong in the middle overs. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are capable of playing big knocks, and they play at a better strike rate than our top-order batters, which gives India an advantage."</p>

<p>At present, Pakistan are playing Afghanistan in the second and penultimate ODI, in the series being held in Sri Lanka, on Thursday (August 24) at Hambantota. They are the second-ranked ODI side at present and have a chance to create history by winning the Asia Cup as well as the ODI WC in India. 'Rohit, Kohli capable of big knocks': Ex-Pak captain warns Babar & Co. ahead of Asia Cup and CWC '23

<p>On Wednesday (August 23), India&nbsp;scripted history in its lunar exploration as Chandrayaan-3 made a successful&nbsp;landing at the Moon's South Pole. This mission, headed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), marks a huge and historic achievement for the country and its success rode on the optimal performance of the Vikram Lunar lander. With the successful landing, India has further elevated its stature and joined a select group of nations to have attained the historic feat of soft lunar landings. Apart from India, the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union are the other nations to have successfully made lunar landings so far.</p>

<p>After India's momentous achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Every Indian is celebrating today. Every home is celebrating. I am also connected to the people of my country at this proud moment. It is the dawn of a new era."&nbsp;&nbsp;PM Modi added, "He also congratulated the team of scientists in Isro who made the mission a success.&nbsp;"No country has reached there (the South Pole of the moon) before. With the hard work of our scientists, we have reached there."</p>

<p>After India's successful landing, many sports personalities also reacted to the historic achievement for the country. Among India's sports personalities, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar led the wishes and wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "@ISRO represents the best of India. Humble, hardworking women &amp; men, coming together, overcoming challenges, and making our tricolour fly high.&nbsp;India must celebrate and congratulate the Chandrayaan-2 team, which was led by Shri K Sivan, along with Shri S Somanath’s #Chandrayaan3 team. On Wednesday (August 23), India scripted history in its lunar exploration as Chandrayaan-3 made a successful landing at the Moon's South Pole. This mission, headed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), marks a huge and historic achievement for the country and its success rode on the optimal performance of the Vikram Lunar lander.

This mission, headed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), marks a huge and historic achievement for the country and its success rode on the optimal performance of the Vikram Lunar lander. With the successful landing, India has further elevated its stature and joined a select group of nations to have attained the historic feat of soft lunar landings. Apart from India, the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union are the other nations to have successfully made lunar landings so far. After India's momentous achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Every Indian is celebrating today. Every home is celebrating. I am also connected to the people of my country at this proud moment. It is the dawn of a new era." PM Modi added, "He also congratulated the team of scientists in Isro who made the mission a success. "No country has reached there (the South Pole of the moon) before. With the hard work of our scientists, we have reached there." After India's successful landing, many sports personalities also reacted to the historic achievement for the country. Among India's sports personalities, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar led the wishes and wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "@ISRO represents the best of India. Humble, hardworking women & men, coming together, overcoming challenges, and making our tricolour fly high. India must celebrate and congratulate the Chandrayaan-2 team, which was led by Shri K Sivan, along with Shri S Somanath’s #Chandrayaan3 team. Kohli, Rohit, Tendulkar lead wishes from sports fraternity after Chandrayaan-3's successful moon landing

<p>Star India batter Shubman Gill has opened up on the valuable presence of skipper Rohit Sharma at the top as they prepare for an important next three months for the national side. The Indian team is gearing up for the penultimate battle before the ODI World Cup as they prepare for the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. Gill, who is expected to play a key role in the Indian team for both tournaments, highlighted the importance of Rohit before and how he has helped him enjoy his cricket.</p>

<h2><strong>Gill full of praise for Rohit</strong></h2>

<p>"It feels great to be able to open up with him, especially knowing that all the focus is on him. He's someone who likes the other batters to go and just express himself and play the way they want to play the game. So in that nature, he gives the players full freedom for how they want to express their game," Gill told ICC.</p>

<p>Gill has been in superb form in 2023, having scored eight hundreds in all tournaments including the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, it is with the national team where he has enjoyed the presence of skipper Rohit, who has helped him excel and enjoy his cricket. The talisman from Punjab has scored five international hundreds in 2023 while he scored a ton at the end of last year against Bangladesh.</p>

Gill is the favoured batter to open along with Rohit, while Ishan Kishan is another option who can partner the Gujarat Titans man.</p>

<p>So far, in 27 ODIs for the national team, Gill&nbsp;has scored 1437 runs for India with a best of 208 against New Zealand in January. He so far has four hundreds and six fifties with the national team and averages 62.47 in the format. Interestingly, he could join the likes of Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh to win both the U-19 and senior 50-over World Cups. Gill was the Player of the Tournament in 2018 when India won their fourth title at the junior level.</p>
