A US conservative politician while speaking to college students at a gathering in Florida ridiculed the American pro-choice movement and said that ugly women shouldn't worry about an abortion. On Sunday, North Korea echoed a claim made by Russia that the United States was producing biological weapons in Ukraine, which the UN rejected in March. The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) claimed on Sunday that Washington had “set up many biological labs in tens of countries and regions, including Ukraine, in disregard of the international treaties,” citing actions that had been “detected” by Russia. In March, Moscow accused the United States of supporting biological weapons development research in Ukraine, which Russia invaded nearly five months earlier.

Russia-Ukraine war: US announces $270 mn in military aid to Ukraine including rocket systems

The agreement to reopen Ukraine's Black Sea ports will free up millions of tonnes of grain that have been trapped in Ukrainian ports since Russia invaded on February 24. This will alleviate concerns about a possible worldwide food catastrophe that Russia's invasion has sparked. In another, the Omicron BA.5 sub-variant, which contains 5.1 million inhabitants, is what's causing the present wave in New Zealand. In the last seven days, there have been 64,780 active cases, while authorities claim that many illnesses go undetected. New Zealand's quick response to the pandemic and its geographic isolation kept it mostly free of the virus until the end of last year, and it was once seen as a model for preventing Covid infection.

On June 24th, 2022, American women not only lost their right to a safe abortion, many say they lost the autonomy they had on their own bodies. Since then, unfortunately, many disheartening news stories have come to light, like that of a 10 years old rape victim having to travel 385 kilometres (200+ miles) for an abortion. However, many organisations have also stepped forward to help out women in whatever way they can.

One of the biggest fallouts of the overturning of Roe v. Wade was women using the internet to access information about abortion. And let’s be honest, internet is a maze of content, much of which may be false or doctored.

A new study released by the New England Journal of Medicine has shown that monkeypox patients across the globe are suffering from symptoms not normally linked to the virus.

Not only does this lead to missed and mistaken diagnoses, the cases do not conform to the definition of monkeypox released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As the Gulf nation prepares to host the World Cup later this year, indignation has been generated by the death of 29 dogs by men carrying weapons in Qatar. The killings, which are the worst of a string of savage dog abuse cases, are being investigated by police, according to the authorities. However, animal welfare groups who claim that regulations protecting domestic animals like dogs are not being enforced criticise them. Click on the headlines to read more: Ukraine and Russia sign food crisis deal to restart grain exports Russia and Ukraine today signed separate agreements in Istanbul with Turkey and the United Nations that would permit Russia to export grain and fertilisers and Ukraine to resume grain shipments to international markets, respectively. This ended a standoff that threatened global food security while the two nations are at war in Ukraine. New Zealand: 26 people die of Covid in 24 hours, all above 60 As the nation fights a new wave of the Omicron strain that is disproportionately hurting the senior population, New Zealanders are dying from COVID-19 at historic rates. According to Health Ministry data, the virus claimed 151 lives in the seven days leading up to July 16 compared to 115 during the worst week of the last wave in March. According to a statement released by the government on Friday, 26 persons with Covid died in the past 24 hours, all of whom were above 60. Roe v. Wade: Google location history of women remains vulnerable; YouTube to censor false videos on abortion On June 24th, 2022, American women not only lost their right to a safe abortion, many say they lost the autonomy they had on their own bodies. The United States recorded a case of polio on Thursday (July 21). The case has been identified outside New York City in Rockland County, the New York State Health Department confirmed. The report of a known polio case means this would be the first in the country in nearly 10 years.

The health department revealed that a person living in Rockland County, (48 kilometres) north of Manhattan, had tested positive for the highly contagious disease.

New York's health department said in a statement: "This suggests that the virus may have originated in a location outside of the US where OPV is administered since revertant strains cannot emerge from inactivated vaccines."

Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the United States is set to provide four more precision rocket systems to Ukraine to help counter the Russian aggression. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Wednesday (July 20) that his Ukrainian counterpart requested for Washington to send more M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (Himars). The Ukrainian official had claimed that Kyiv's forces have used them to destroy some 30 Russian command stations and ammunition depots so far. During an interaction with journalists at the Pentagon, Austin said: "Washington will send four more Himars advanced rocket systems for a total of 16. The Ukrainians have made excellent use of Himars, and you can see the impact on the battlefield." "Russia is keeping up its relentless shelling, and that's a cruel tactic that harkens back to the horrors of World War I. So Ukraine needs the firepower and the ammunition to withstand this barrage and to strike back," he said. It is said that the US will also send additional GMLRS ammunition, which can precisely strike targets up to 80 kilometres away. So far, in its military aid to Ukraine, US President Joe Biden's administration has refused to send longer-range ammunition. Long-range missiles would facilitate Ukraine to strike targets inside Russian territory and potentially expand the war into a direct clash with the West. On being asked about longer-range ammunition on Wednesday, Austin said: "We think what they have and what they're working with is really giving them a lot of capability." On Tuesday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov urged for a major increase in the number of Himars. Reznikov claimed that at least 100 were needed for an effective counter-offensive against Moscow's troops. WATCH WION LIVE HERE You can now write for wionews.com and be a part of the community. In the United States, more innocent lives have been lost in yet another mass shooting. In Greenwood city, Indiana, on Sunday (July 18), three people were killed and three more were hurt when an as-yet-unidentified gunman opened fire at a mall. AFP reports that the Greenwood police force has requested information from any witnesses to the incident. Posting on its Facebook page, the department has asked witnesses to come forward. United States President Joe Biden has welcomed the United Arab Emirates-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA), among other pacts Abu Dhabi has signed during his talks with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE and US President held talks in Jeddah on 16th July during the latter's Saudi Arabia visit. The Joint statement that was later released said, President Biden "welcomed the UAE’s economic initiatives throughout the Middle East and beyond, including its recent Free Trade Agreements signed with Israel, India, and Indonesia as well as new investments in Jordan and Egypt."

Earlier this year, India and UAE signed the free trade agreement, hailed as the key to increased economic cooperation. The FTA is India's 1st comprehensive trade agreement in a decade and under the deal, duty gets eliminated on 80% of tariff lines. The comments come even as last week saw the first I2U2 summit involving leaders of India, Israel, UAE and the US. The Family Leadership Summit was held in Iowa, the first state to nominate a Republican for president. The Fox News personality, Tucker Carlson, spoke there. He arrived to a thunderous ovation, shamelessly charmed his hosts, enlightened them on his political philosophy, and offered them items bearing his name. As far as anyone is aware, Tucker Carlson's visit to Iowa on Friday did not involve a presidential campaign, despite the fact that it appeared to be one, moved like one, and sounded like one.

When businessman and reality TV celebrity Donald Trump said that Senator John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, was "not a war hero" at the same event in the same state seven years ago, it seemed to instantly endanger McCain's campaign.

Joe Biden formally invites UAE President to the United States

Former United States President Donald Trump has been the subject of a number of books published in the recent past and on every instance, some new information has come to light about his tenure at the White House. From his stance on the Black Lives Matter movement to the Capitol Hill riots, the books have provided a sneak peek at his personality and views. Now, a new book claims that former White House strategist and a major Trump ally Steve Bannon told aides that the former president lies from time to time “in order to win whatever exchange he [is] having at that moment”.

“Trump would say anything, he would lie about anything,” the book quoted Brennan as saying.

The quotes from Brennon, as written in the book according to The Guardian, are completely contradictory to the claims made by him in a 2018 interview. While speaking to ABC News, Bannon made a declaration that Trump always speaks the truth and people were trying to “demonise him”.

However, Lemire wrote in his book - “even for Bannon, Trump was something new. The chief strategist told me that Trump ‘was not looking to win a news cycle, he was looking to win a news moment, a news second.’

“Entire campaign proposals had to be written on the fly, policy plans reverse engineered, teams of aides immediately mobilised to meet whatever floated through Trump’s head in that moment to defend his record, put down a reporter, or change a chyron on CNN,” the book excerpt read.

The shocking case has received massive media attention from all parts of the country, and even the world as it comes in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

Media outlet Indianapolis Star first reported the story and drew international scrutiny.

The Dispatch reports that Fuentes confessed to raping the young girl "on at least two occasions".

The case was so appalling that some people even raised questions. It was even questioned by conservative-leaning media outlets.

But in the latest development, the Ohio police detective Jeffrey Huhn testified in court early Wednesday, confirming that the unidentified girl underwent an abortion in Indianapolis on June 30.

According to the paper, Huhn was testifying at the arraignment of a man arrested Tuesday by police who say he confessed to raping the child.

In an interview aired Wednesday (July 13), United States President Joe Biden said that former President Donald Trump made a "gigantic mistake" withdrawing the US from the Iran nuclear deal. Biden also said that Iran is now closer to acquiring a nuclear weapon. During an interview with Israel's Channel 12 News, Biden said, "The only thing worse than the Iran that exists now is Iran with nuclear weapons." The interview was taped ahead of a four-day trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia. As per Biden, the use of force will be the last resort to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. In the interview, Biden said he would keep Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the U.S. Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) list even if that killed off the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Biden further slammed the Trump administration's foreign policy. he said, "There are those who thought with the last administration we sort of walked away from the Middle East, that we were going to create a vacuum that China and or Russia would fill, and we can't let that happen." 2015 Nuclear deal In 2015, Iran agreed to a pact with six major powers to limit its nuclear program. The pact made it harder to obtain a weapon in return for relief from economic sanctions. In 2018, then US President Donald Trump reneged on the deal and reimposed harsh sanctions on Iran. Trump's decision led Tehran to start violating the agreement's nuclear limits about a year later. So far, the efforts to resurrect the deal failed. But Iran has taken part in the on-off talks that opened in Vienna in April last year. Also, indirect talks between Tehran and US President Joe Biden's administration have been taking place to reinstate the pact. Joe Biden says use of force 'last resort' to keep Iran from nuclear weapons

Inflation in the United States of America is at a 40-year high. According to a government report released on Wednesday, inflation has hit 9.1 percent in the 12 months to June. Here at 'The Full Context', we decode this and more!

The full context: U.S. inflation at an all time high, How does this affect you?

As per Government data released on Wednesday (July 13), in June, the United States saw a new peak of 9.1 per cent inflation. This faster-than-expected increase in the consumer price index (CPI) was driven by significant increases in gasoline prices, reports AFP. The US Labor Department has reported that this 9.1 per cent CPI spike over the past 12 months to June was the fastest increase in 40 years, the last such increase was witnessed in November 1981. The fast-rising costs have placed an excessive burden on American families and jeopardised US President Joe Biden's already shaky approval ratings.

However, as per an AFP report, Biden claims that while the inflation rate was "unacceptably high," it was also "out of date" because it did not account for a noticeable decline in energy prices since mid-June.

According to AAA, the national average gas price recently decreased from $5.01 a month to $4.63 a gallon.

Recent price reductions had offered "important breathing room for American families. And, other commodities like wheat have fallen sharply since this report," said the President.

Since April 1980, the overall yearly growth in energy prices is at its highest level. Gasoline prices increased by 11.2 per cent last month and a startling 59.9 per cent over the previous year, accounting for half of the monthly rise.

Even while Biden insisted that combating inflation was the main priority, he acknowledged that his administration needed to "to make more progress, more quickly, in getting price increases under control."

US witnesses 40-year-high spike in customer prices

As the 2022 United States growth forecasts to 2.3 per cent from 2.9 per cent in late June due to weakening consumer spending, the International Monetary Fund on Tuesday warned that avoiding a recession in the United States will be “increasingly challenging”. The Fund also cut its 2023 real GDP growth forecast to 1.0 per cent from 1.7 per cent on Jun 24, when it met with US officials for an annual assessment of US economic policies. The final report released on Friday was revised to reflect downward revisions to US first-quarter GDP and weak consumer spending data in May. But it continued to highlight the challenges of high inflation and the steep Federal Reserve interest rate hikes needed to control prices.

As reported by Reuters, IMF executive directors said in a statement that a broad-based inflation surge was “posting systemic risks to both the United States and the global economy. The policy priority must now be to expeditiously slow wage and price growth without precipitating a recession. This will be a tricky task.”

The Fund said Fed monetary policy tightening should help bring down inflation to 1.9 per cent by the fourth quarter of 2023, compared with a forecast of 6.6 per cent for the fourth quarter of 2022. This will further slow US growth, but the IMF still predicted the United States will avoid recession. IMF Western Hemisphere Department economist Andrew Hodge said in a blog post that Fed rate hikes and less government spending will slow consumer spending growth "to around zero by early next year" easing supply strains. "Slowing demand will increase unemployment to around 5 per cent by late 2023, which should decrease wages," Hodge said.

IMF executive directors in their policy prescriptions for the US government called for the passage of US President Joe Biden's stalled social and climate spending proposals, saying these would foster increased labour force participation, which would ease inflation while helping to facilitate a transition to a low-carbon economy.

The policy priority must now be to expeditiously slow wage and price growth without precipitating a recession. This will be a tricky task.” Also Read: Ever heard about healthy salt? United States: IMF cuts 2022 growth forecast to 2.3% but predicts country will avoid recession

The United States launched a major push into the Pacific on Wednesday, seeking to hold off China’s advance in the region, with Vice President Kamala Harris announcing $600 million in funding at a key regional summit.

Harris also revealed the US will open two new embassies -- in Tonga and Kiribati -- during an unprecedented address to the Pacific Islands Forum in Fiji.

The US will also appoint its first-ever enjoy to the Pacific and launch an inaugural national strategy for the region.

The US-China rivalry has brought intense interest to this year's forum, which brings together leaders from across the strategically vital Pacific.

It marks the first time regional leaders have met together since the Solomon Islands signed a controversial security pact with China earlier this year.

Harris' video-link address was a diplomatic coup for the US, with China not yet invited to make a similar appearance at the summit.

At least one official from the local Chinese embassy was in the room for Harris' address, causing a minor stir among organisers.

The US vice president thanked Fiji President Voreqe Bainimarama for inviting her to speak at the summit and said the US was ready to "embark on a new chapter" in the Pacific.

Harris said she and US President Joe Biden acknowledged the Pacific may not have previously received enough focus in the past.

"We are going to change that," she promised, adding the US wanted to "significantly deepen our presence in the Pacific region".

Alongside a US$60 million pledge for economic assistance to the Forum Fisheries Agency, she said the US would also relaunch the Peace Corps in the Pacific.

She said the US wanted to collaborate on maritime security, disaster relief and infrastructure projects that "do not result in insurmountable debt".

"We are really happy that the US will be opening an embassy in Tonga, it will be the first time," Tongan Prime Minister Siaosi Sovaleni told AFP.

"It is a big milestone. We are very happy we are finally having a US presence in Tonga."
