Trump spokesman Steven Cheung took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and said that since the former president’s appearance to have his mug shot taken after he surrendered at an Atlanta jail, the campaign has received some $7.1 million.&nbsp;

He also claimed that on Friday (August 25) alone, Trump brought in $4.18 million, making it the highest-grossing day of his campaign so far.&nbsp;

This was a day after Trump was booked on more than a dozen felony charges stemming from his efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat in Georgia.

In the latest addition to many 'firsts' in former US president Donald Trump's name, he became the first sitting or former president to suffer the fate of having to pose for a prison mugshot. On Thursday (August 24), Trump surrendered at an Atlanta jail and was booked on more than a dozen felony charges. These are part of a wide-ranging criminal case stemming out of Trump's attempts to overturn his 2020 election defeat in Georgia.

The mugshot in Fulton County jail records showed an unsmiling Trump - inmate no. P01135809. He was clicked glaring at the camera in the mug shot. Notably, Trump did not have to submit to a photograph while making appearances in his three other criminal cases.

In an apparent attempt to turn the entire thing to his advantage, Trump posted the mugshot on X (formerly Twitter), in addition to Truth Social, his own social media site. Trump's campaign website also featured the mug shot with a message from Trump defending his actions while asking for donations.

Trump was banned from Twitter after his supporters attacked the US Capitol Building in 2021. The platform, now owned by Elon Musk and renamed to X, reinstated Trump's account late last year.

Trump spent about 20 minutes at the jail and headed to his New Jersey golf club. He then boarded his private plane at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport.

He has reiterated his claim that whatever was happening was politically motivated.

"What has taken place here is a travesty of justice," he told reporters. "I did nothing wrong, and everybody knows it."

Trump, who became the first US president to be impeached twice, has already become the first former US president to face criminal charges. He is aiming to get re-elected in the US Presidential Election in 2024.

Notably, the cases filed against him are helping boost his standing. Within the Republican Party, he is currently holding a commanding lead to win the party nomination.

On Thursday, dozens of Trump supporters were present outside the Fulton County jail with the&nbsp;American flag. Among the Trump backers gathered outside was Georgia US&nbsp;Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the former president's most loyal congressional allies.&nbsp;

"Yeah, I'm hoping he sees me waving the flags, showing support," said Lyle Rayworth (49), a Trump supporter&nbsp;who works in the aviation industry and waited 10 hours to see Trump.&nbsp;"He needs us."

The interview was posted on the social media platform just five minutes before the Republican debate aired.

“Do I sit there for an hour or two hours, whatever it’s going to be, and get harassed by people that shouldn’t even be running for president?” Trump said in the 46-minute interview. “Should I be doing that at a network that isn’t particularly friendly to me?”

During the interview, Trump took on his Republican rivals early. He called former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson “nasty”. Trump cited him as an example of someone who ideally should not be on the debate stage. He even lashed out at former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Both of them have been criticising Trump, saying that he shouldn't be running for president.

“I’m going to have all these people screaming at me, shouting questions at me, all of which I love answering, I love doing. But it doesn’t make sense to do them so I’m taking a pass,” Trump said.

Trump is currently facing a flood of legal trouble. He is expected to turn himself in in Georgia on Thursday (August 24) over state charges of conspiring to overthrow the 2020 presidential election.

During the&nbsp;interview with Carlson, Trump said it was beneath him to appear with other candidates during the presidential debate because of his large lead in the polls.

Trump made a post on Truth Social network just hours before the debate targetting Fox News network and even complained about the network.

As he aims to get elected again, Trump has increasingly been observed to be aligning himself with those in the US with extreme views and campaigns, including those who uphold his claim that the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged.

It focused on election interference in Georgia and named Trump and 18 others, including some of his most prominent lawyers, &nbsp;as participants in a conspiracy to fraudulently change the election results in Georgia, whose Republican Secretary of State, Brad Raffensberger, rebuffed Trump when he asked him to “find” 11,780 Georgia votes to make him the winner.

He is Will Hurd, the only black Republican representative in the House of Representatives from 2014 to 2019, representing a swing district in Texas. Hurd has no chance of being nominated but his observation on Trump’s motivation for running again is worth noting.

“Donald Trump is not running to make America great again,” he said in a television interview. “Donald Trump is not running for president to defend our interests overseas. Donald Trump is not even running to represent the people who voted for him in 2016 and 2020. Donald Trump is running for president in order for him to stay out of jail.”

This is toxic talk for the estimated one-third of Republicans who believe every word Trump is saying, think that the 2020 elections were stolen by Democratic cheating, cheer the hundreds of Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol, consider those serving prison sentences for the assault political prisoners, and agree with Trump’s constant assertions that the legal cases against him are a witch hunt and aimed to keep him from running again. His phrase, often repeated, is “electoral interference.”

Now that the most extensive charges against him – racketeering under the RICO Act – have been filed, legal scholars have begun debating which, if any, of the cases brought by three prosecutors in four cities will be tried next year in the midst of his election campaign.&nbsp;

The big question is how the ex-president’s monumental legal problems will affect the elections. As it looks now, it will be a rematch between Trump and President Joe Biden. The Democrats are confident that Biden will prevail even though there is concern over his age. He will be 82 in November 2024 and 86 at the end of his term if he wins re-election.

Trump’s tricky dual-purpose campaign – win elections and stay out of prison

Former US president Donald Trump, who is aiming to get re-elected in US Presidential Election in 2024, has once again taken up the issue of high taxes imposed by India on certain American products. The iconic Harley-Davidson motorcycle is one such product. Trump has said that he would impose a reciprocal tax on Indian products if he gets elected again.

During his time in the presidential office, Trump had regarded India as a nation that's "tariff king". In the year 2019, he terminated India's preferential access to US markets. He alleged that India did not give the US "equitable and reasonable access to its markets."

In an interview with Larry Kudlow of Fox Business News, Trump came down heavily on India's tax rates, which he alleged were quite high.

"The other thing I want to have is a matching tax where, if India charges us -- India is very big with tariffs. I mean, I saw it with Harley-Davidson. I was saying, how do you do in a place like India? Oh, no good sir. Why? They have 100 per cent and 150 per cent and 200 per cent tariffs," said the former president. He was quoted by the Press Trust of India.

"So, I said, so they can sell their Indian motorbike. They actually make a bike, an Indian motorbike. They can sell that into our country with no tax, no tariff, but when you make a Harley, when you send it over there -- because they were doing no business. I said, how come you don't do business with India? The tariff is so high that nobody wants it. But what they want us to do is, they want us to go over and build a plant, and then you have no tariff," Trump said.

"They said, well, that's not good. That's not our deal, OK? That's not our deal. And I came down very hard on them. But India is very big. Brazil is very big on tariffs, I mean, very, very big. We had a couple of people, like the senator from a place called Pennsylvania that I love. But this guy was just horrendous. I said, let me ask you a question. If India is charging us 200 per cent, and we're charging them nothing for products, can we charge them 100 per cent? No, sir, that's not free trade. Can we charge them 50 per cent? No, sir. Twenty-five, 10, anything? No. I said, what the hell is wrong? There's something wrong. You know what I'm talking about," he said.

"If India is charging us too, so what I want to have is a -- call it retribution. You could call it whatever you want. If they are charging us, we charge them," Trump said in response to a question.

Trump repeats threat of reciprocal taxes against India if elected again

This has now brought the count of indictments against Trump to four. This is likely to create impediments in his way to seek re-election in 2024 US Presidential Election 2024. Trump is currently a frontrunner to win Republican Party nomination.

Trump (77) may have to juggle campaign events with court appearances as several hearings have been scheduled in the year 2024.

Trump has been claiming that the slew of federal and state charges filed against him are politically motivated and is a plot by Democratic President Joe Biden to create obstacles in his path.

"How can my corrupt political opponent crooked Joe Biden put me on trial during an election campaign that I'm winning by a lot?" the billionaire real estate tycoon said at a campaign rally in New Hampshire.&nbsp;

Trump said he was being forced to "spend time and money away from the campaign trail in order to fight bogus made-up accusations and charges."&nbsp;

Trump has decried the legal troubles but has also sought to turn them into advantage. He has appealed for donations and has claimed that the allegations against him have only increased his popularity.

"Any time they file an indictment, we go way up in the polls," he said.&nbsp;

There are times that this indeed looks like the case, at least within the Republican rank and file and voters, the loyal support base of Trump.

Jordan Tama, an associate professor at American University, said the upcoming criminal trials facing the former president are "certainly going to complicate Trump's campaign.&nbsp;

"He may need to leave the campaign trail at times to participate in the legal processes," Tama said, and divert some of his campaign cash to his burgeoning legal fees.&nbsp;

"But it's not really clear that having to participate in these trials is going to alter the contours of the election from a broad political standpoint," he said. The standing of the key candidates has remained largely unchanged, he added.&nbsp;

Michael Cohen, the former lawyer and now critic of former US president Donald Trump, is considering running for Manhattan congressional district seat, reported Politico. Cohen, who spent more than a year in jail for conviction on campaign finance violations and fraud, is reportedly planning to run as a Democratic Party candidate. New York's 12th congressional district, which is held by Jerry Nadler right now is expected to be a tough fight for Cohen as he would attempt to topple the 31-year incumbent.

Nadler has a longtime status in the area and has strong support from powerful Jewish communities in the district.

Prosecutors in former US president Donald Trump's election overturning case have asked a US judge to limit how much information Trump can discuss publicly about the latest indictment against him. The prosecution has cited a threatening post by Trump made on his social media platform Truth Social. Trump campaign has defended the post as "political speech".

"If you go after me, I'm coming after you!," Trump wrote in all caps Friday on Truth Social.

Jack Smith, the special counsel who is overseeing charges against Trump for seeking to reverse results of 2020 US Presidential Election, filed a motion on Friday evening and urged a protective order to prevent the former president from potentially revealing evidential details about the case.

The judge, Tanya Chutkan, replied by issuing a weekend order to Trump's legal team that they respond to the government's motion by 5:00 pm on Monday.

"Such a restriction is particularly important in this case because the defendant has previously issued public statements on social media regarding witnesses, judges, attorneys, and others associated with legal matters pending against him."

He is due to go on trial in New York in March next year over allegations that he misrepresented "hush money" payments to a porn star, and is scheduled to be tried in May over his handling of national security secrets.

He was in court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing over his alleged election interference and is expected to soon be charged by state prosecutors over similar allegations in a separate case focused on the southern state of Georgia.&nbsp;

Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya read from the 45-page indictment presented by special counsel Jack Smith the four criminal offences and the potential maximum jail sentences Trump might face.&nbsp;

Moxila Upadhyaya announced the next hearing date on August 28, which will take place in the court of District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan, who will preside over the eventual trial.&nbsp;

Just last month, Trump pleaded not guilty to federal charges of unlawful retention of secret government documents after his tenure was over. Authorities in the US have already recovered thousands of documents from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. It subsequently came to light that some of these documents were stashed in bathrooms, showers and even places of ceremonies&nbsp;where anyone could take a peek at them.

Trump is also in trouble over a case related to a hush-money payment to a pornstar and Capitol Hill riots in January 2021.&nbsp;

However, in spite of his legal woes, his popularity among Republican voters does not appear to have waned. He is a clear frontrunner at this time to win the party nomination. He has already termed legal cases against him a 'witch hunt' and has declared that he will not withdraw his candidacy for the party nomination in any case.

A New York University professor and co-host of a podcast has predicted that former US president Donald Trump will eventually drop his bid for the presidency in 2024 in exchange for a plea deal. Scott Galloway, the professor, stunned his podcast co-host Kara Swisher when he made this prediction on the podcast 'Pivot'.

"I think President Trump is not going to run for president under the auspices of a plea deal," said Galloway after being asked by Swisher about his prediction.

“Where is that coming from? No one says that stuff,” asked Swisher after Galloway made the prediction.

Galloway noted that another presidential hopeful from the Republican Party Chris&nbsp;Christie had opined on similar lines.

"I actually think Governor Christie is going to surpass DeSantis and be the number two. But I don’t think it will matter… I don’t understand and can’t empathize with President Trump, but I know how old rich men think," Galloway said.

Notably, a few days back, Christie said on&nbsp;MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that&nbsp;Trump might take a plea deal in the classified&nbsp;documents case as he is&nbsp;afraid of going to jail.

"I'm telling you, no matter what he says, no matter how he's bragging and going on and on about him not being afraid, he goes to bed every night thinking about the sound of that jail cell door closing behind him," Christie had said.

<h2>'A very nice life'</h2>

"He has a very nice life, and his life can be going back to golf and sycophants and having sex with porn stars, which I think is a good thing… I’m not being cynical. I would like to do more of that at some point in my life," he said.

“Or he can live under the threat of prison. And I think that once the third indictment, I think the laws specifically around these state secrets, I think that he is running for president and the momentum he has is real leverage and power. And I think he’s going to cash that leverage and power in for a plea deal that includes no jail time,”

During the podcast, he said that Trump may be convinced by the Department of Justice or "whoever is in charge" to strike a plea bargain in order to ensure no jail time.

Galloway continued his argument during the podcast.

"To try and cut out the noise and just say, OK, here’s a very wealthy man is 76 or 77. And here’s a political map that shows even if he’s the nominee, even if he runs for president, is most likely going to lose. And here’s someone representing the DOJ who’s gathered everybody and has the rights to negotiate on behalf of the states and the federal government and says, look, we’re going to do a plea deal. You’re going to do this X, Y, and Z, but it doesn’t involve jail time, and you’re going to leave the public stage."

Three Florida men were arrested on Thursday and charged with illegally making more than $22 million by insider trading ahead of the public announcement that an acquisition firm was going to take a media company owned by former President Donald Trump public. 
 
The charges were outlined in an indictment unsealed in Manhattan federal court that did not implicate Trump in any way. The indictment was among four separate insider trading cases brought against 10 people, including a Pfizer employee and an investment firm executive director. 
 
According to the indictment pertaining to the media company, the men were invited to invest in the special purpose acquisition company, Digital World Acquisition Corp., and were provided confidential information that a potential target of DWAC and another acquisition company, Benessere Capital Acquisition Corp., was Trump Media and Technology Group. 
 
Authorities said the defendants bought millions of dollars of DWAC securities on the open market before news of the Trump media business was made public. 
 
After the public announcement, the men dumped their securities for a significant profit, according to the court papers.

&nbsp;“Insider trading is not easy money,” US Attorney Damian Williams said in a release. “It's cheating. It's a bad bet. Because my Office, the Southern District of New York, is watching. And we're working quickly to investigate and prosecute anyone who corrupts our financial markets. And we'll keep at it as long as it takes. You can bet on that.” 
 
The arrested men were identified as Michael Shvartsman, 52, of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida; Gerald Shvartsman, 45, of Aventura, Florida; and Bruce Garelick, 53, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was unclear who would represent them at Thursday afternoon initial court appearances in Miami. 
 
Michael Shvartsman owned Rocket One Capital LLC, a venture capital firm. His brother, Gerald Shvartsman, was Rocket One's chief investment officer, according to court papers. 
 
According to the indictment, Garelick was given a seat on DWAC's board of directors and had access to confidential information. It said he then shared that information with his co-conspirators. 
 
A lawyer who has represented Garelick in the past did not immediately return a message seeking comment Thursday. 
 
The indictment said that between June 2021 and November 2021, the men purchased securities including warrants of their own and shared the secrets with their friends and employees, who also bought tens of thousands of units of securities ahead of the merger announcement with Trump Media and Technology Group. 
 
Typically, a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, is formed with the intent to merge with a private company before the private company becomes publicly traded. 
 
In early 2021, representatives of Trump Media, including Trump, began communicating with&nbsp; Benessere about potentially merging to take Trump Media public, the indictment said. 
 
Between March and June 2021, Trump Media and Benessere entered into nonbinding letters of intent to merge, it said.

The letters required confidentiality but did allow Benessere and its agents to share confidential information with investors in the special purpose acquisition companies, the indictment said.

Three charged in insider trading case related to Trump media, accused of making $22 million

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis fares better against United States President Joe Biden than former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election contest, showed the DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners survey.

As per the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate, other polls&nbsp;also suggest&nbsp;similar results, with DeSantis topping Biden by 1.3 percentage points.&nbsp;

“I think that there’s a lot of voters who just aren’t going to vote for [Trump], who don’t like Biden,” The Florida governor told The Brian Kilmeade Show.&nbsp;

“At the end of the day, I think we have a great track record in Florida of reaching voters who had traditionally not voted Republican,” he further added.

As per the poll, among independents, DeSantis also has a five-point edge over Joe Biden.

However, DeSantis' approval rating had dropped especially two weeks after he made an announcement regarding his 2024 presidential bid.

The data unveiled that the Republican has an unfavourable rating from people in the age group of 18-34 (63 per cent), women (62 per cent), as well as African Americans (85 per cent), and the Hispanic/Latino population (68 per cent), as per Newsweek reports.

As per a Quinnipiac University poll, Biden is now leading Trump by four points.&nbsp;

“In a hypothetical general election matchup, President Joe Biden has a slight lead over Trump 48 - 44 per cent among all registered voters. In Quinnipiac University's previous national poll on May 24th, Biden received 48 per cent and Trump received 46 per cent. Today's results continue a string of close head-to-head results between Biden and Trump since Quinnipiac University started asking this question in February 2023,” the website for Quinnipiac University poll said.

Quinnipiac analyst Tim Malloy said, “A federal indictment. A court date on a litany of charges. A blizzard of critical media coverage. The negative impact on the former President’s standing with voters? Not much at all.”

DeSantis was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and has since steadily risen among the ranks. At one time, he was one of Trump's ardent followers, having been one of the founding leaders of the Freedom Caucus. However, with a presidential nomination on the line, both have turned into arch-enemies.&nbsp;

The federal prosecutors on Friday (June 9) unsealed the indictment of Donald Trump and accused the former US president of holding&nbsp;top secret nuclear and defence documents and endangering national security after leaving the White House and then scheming&nbsp;and lying to thwart government efforts from reclaiming the material.

Trump (76) is currently the frontrunner to win the Republican Party nomination to run for president in the 2024 elections. The 49-page charge sheet said that the former president took hundreds of classified government documents in cardboard boxes to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

The indictment says that the files kept by Trump at his residence included records from the Pentagon, CIA and National Security Agency. The sensitive documents lay unsecured at the property which often hosted large social events.

Moreover, the indictment says that Trump showed sensitive documents on the US military and its plans to people who were not authorised to see them. This happened on at least two occasions at his golf club in New Jersey.

It says that Trump possessed the classified documents intentionally and showed them off to visitors boastfully. The indictment is built on Trump's own words and actions as recounted to prosecutors by lawyers, close aides and other witnesses.

<h2>Look. Secret&nbsp;information</h2>

The indictment alleges that during a meeting held in July 2021, Trump presented a document that he referred to as a "war plan" to a writer and a publisher. This document is believed to be connected to a specific country, which the indictment refers to as "Country A," — as per Business Insider, this is believed to pertain to Iran.&nbsp;

According to the indictment, during the aforementioned July 2021 meeting, the former president emphasised the confidential nature of the information contained in the document. He drew the attention of the group present by stating, "Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this."

<h2>Ex-prez faces 37 separate counts</h2>

Trump faces 37 separate counts in the indictment. These include 31 counts of "willful retention of national defence information". A conviction on each count has a punishment of up to 10 years in prison.

Speaking to aspiring journalists, Amanpour said, “I still respectfully disagree with allowing Donald Trump to appear in that particular format.”

And I get it. It was disturbing,” he said.

"The man you were so disturbed to see last night, that man is the front-runner for the Republican nomination for president," Cooper said. During the CNN event, the former president called the account of a sexual assault a “fake” and “made-up story,” while referring to it as “hanky-panky”. The several disparaging comments elicited applause and laughter from the audience which consisted of Republicans and independent voters.&nbsp;

They cannot listen to this balderdash and this old-timey view of women, which is a cave-man view.”

Meanwhile, her lawyer, Roberta Kaplan told the newspaper, that “we have to give serious consideration to it,” referring to the possibility of a defamation lawsuit. “We have to weigh the various pros and cons and we’ll come to a decision in the next day or so, probably,” Kaplan told the Times.&nbsp;

Trump appeals verdict&nbsp;

The nine-member jury in Manhattan federal court delivered its verdict that Trump sexually abused Carroll and then defamed her by calling her a liar, on Tuesday, and awarded about $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages to the writer. However, the former president has since appealed the verdict.&nbsp;

On Thursday, Trump notified the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals that he was appealing the verdict, reported Reuters, as his lawyer Joseph Tacopina previously said he would. After the verdict, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social and called the verdict a “disgrace” and continuation of a “witch hunt” against him.&nbsp;

At least eight of the Republican “fake electors” in Georgia, United States who had been granted immunity by prosecutors of Fulton County amid the ongoing criminal investigation for conspiring to overturn the state's vote in the 2020 presidential election, have accepted it, reported the American media citing court filing on Friday (May 5).

This comes ahead of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' decision, which is expected to be disclosed this summer about whether former President Donald Trump and others will be charged with crimes related to interfering with the 2020 presidential election.&nbsp;

The district attorney had also previously warned all 16 GOP supposed fake electors in Georgia that were targets of&nbsp;her investigation. However, last month, she offered them immunity deals which as per the court filings several of the Republicans who served as pro-Trump electors have accepted.&nbsp;

Attorney Kimberly Bourroughs Debrow who is representing 10 out of the 16 suspected fake electors said that prosecutors “made actual, written offers of immunity to these eight electors in April 2023 but not to the remaining two,” as quoted by Reuters.&nbsp;

“All eight of the electors who were offered immunity accepted,” said Debrow. She added, that this had since left the non-immunized clients to get new lawyers. The lawyer is representing those who may have offered to cast electoral college votes for Trump even though Democrat Joe Biden won the state of Georgia along with the right to its 16 electoral college votes.&nbsp;

Since they have been granted immunity, the eight people would be free to testify against any defendants. This could pave the way for key insights to emerge in Willis’s investigation into election interference which includes attempts to put forward alternate slates of electors to block the certification of the 2020 presidential as well as the role Trump’s allies played in organising this.&nbsp;

The investigation in Georgia began soon after a January 2021 phone call in which then-president Trump was reportedly heard asking the state’s top election officials to “find” the votes which could reverse Biden’s victory in that US state. However, Trump has since denied these allegations and accused Willis, an elected Democrat, of targeting him for political reasons. 
 
Debrow in Friday’s filing also wrote, “The District Attorney’s Motion is reckless, frivolous, offensive, and completely without merit,” quoted by CNN. This comes after a motion called by Willis sought to have Debrow disqualified from the case.&nbsp;

In an earlier court filing, the district attorney’s office accused Debrow and an attorney of failing to bring immunity proposals to the GOP fake electors last year. However, Debrow has since denied these accusations and said that the electors had turned down “potential” immunity offers and were not given the specific and individual offers of immunity until earlier this year.&nbsp;

Prosecutors grant immunity to at least eight 'fake electors' in Georgia Trump probe

Amid the ongoing civil rape trial, former US President Donald Trump on Thursday (May 4) defended private comments he made back in 2005. This comes as the jurors saw a video deposition in which he was addressing the “Access Hollywood” tape, where he was caught on a hot mic saying, “when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything...Grab 'em by the p***y.”

The lawyer for writer E. Jean Carroll, Roberta Kaplan, asked Trump about the tape in the video deposition taken last October and shown to the jury on Thursday where he was heard saying, “Historically, that’s true, with stars...if you look over the last million years.”

This comes as the trial entered its seventh day in a Manhattan court. District Judge Lewis Kaplan said he would give Trump until 5:00 pm (local time) on Sunday to ask to reopen his case for the sole purpose of personally testifying. Trump’s lawyer had previously said the former president has decided against testifying.&nbsp;

However, as of Thursday, the former president’s lawyer has rested his case without calling any other witnesses. During the hearing, a social media and marketing expert hired by Carroll told jurors that it would cost the former president up to $2.8 million to repair the reputational damage of his statements against her.&nbsp;

A woman named Jessica Leeds, from Asheville, North Carolina told jurors at the civil trial of Carroll’s lawsuit that Trump allegedly grabbed her chest and ran his hand up her skirt as they sat side by side in first class. Leeds said&nbsp;she was in her late 30s travelling&nbsp;from Dallas or Atlanta to New York’s LaGuardia Airport when "all of a sudden Trump decided to kiss me and grope me."

It was like a tussle,"&nbsp;said the 81-year-old, as quoted by the Associated Press.&nbsp;She added, “He was trying to kiss me, trying to pull me towards him. He was grabbing my breasts. Leeds said that after a few seconds, she wriggled free of Trump, and told him, “I don’t need this” before storming to the back of the plane, as per media reports.&nbsp;

This comes as another woman, who too was victimised, is expected to testify in the trial against the former president. Leeds was called to the witness stand by Carroll’s lawyers who are reportedly trying to prove that Trump has a history of assaulting women and that the writer’s case was not a one-off incident.&nbsp;

Trump arrives at New York Attorney General's office for deposition in business fraud lawsuit

Donald Trump is in serious trouble from his former vice president Mike Pence's testimony in the Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation, claims ex-federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner.&nbsp;

Earlier this week, Pence said he will not appeal the judge's order compelling him to testify in the DOJ's investigation into whether the former president attempted to overturn the 2020 election results or not.&nbsp;

"Mike Pence has some sharply incriminating information that comes directly from the mouth of Donald Trump," Kirschner was quoted as saying by Newsweek.&nbsp;

"That's going to be direct evidence, not circumstantial evidence because Donald Trump waged a relentless pressure campaign to do - let's call it what it is to violate the law. The Electoral Count Act."

He added that Pence's not appealing could be a 'real danger zone for Donald Trump'.&nbsp;

As Kirschner made the tall claims, Trump's spokespersons dubbed him a conspiracy theorist saying, "Glenn is a notorious trafficker of wild conspiracy theories and dubious legal analysis. I would expect nothing more from a clout-chasing MSNBC contributor who has been shunned by the legal community at large."

While Kirschner's version would only be tested after Pence's testimony, there have been signs that the former Trump ally may open up a front in the court.

Last month, at a public function, Pence harshly criticised Trump for his role in the riots&nbsp;and said history will hold the former president accountable for being wrong.&nbsp;

Jack Smith was appointed as the special counsel to investigate the politically sensitive case last year in November. It was the second time in five years that DOJ had appointed a special counsel to probe Trump’s conduct.&nbsp;
