<p>Virender Sehwag has called ex-Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq the best middle-order batter from Asia. Speaking his heart out on Gaurav Kapoor’s Breakfast with Champions YouTube show, the former India batter said people talk about legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, but to him, Inzamam was as good as any batter from this part of the world.</p>

<p>Sehwag said since Sachin is not counted among the rest as the India batter is the greatest-ever, Inzamam, off all the other middle-order batters from Asia, stands out as the best.</p>

<p>“Everyone talks about Sachin Tendulkar, but Inzamam-Ul-Haq is Asia’s biggest middle-order batsman,” Sehwag told Gaurav Kapoor on Breakfast with Champions.<br />
“See, Tendulkar was above the league of batsmen. So he doesn’t count. But when it comes to the most superior-middle order batsman across India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, I have never seen anyone better than him (Inzamam),” Sehwag added.</p>

<p>Elaborating on what made him call Inzamam the best, Sehwag said unlike other batters or captains during the early 2000s, Inzamam was not afraid of chasing down huge totals – even if the run rate is above eight.</p>

<p>“In that era – 2003-04 – he used to talk about scoring eight an over. He would say, ‘Don’t worry. We’ll score easily. 80 required in 10 overs, any other players would panic, but he was always confident,” Viru said.</p>

<h2>When Sehwag asked Inzamam to make field changes</h2>

<p>Having detailed everyone on this specific incident a few times before, Sehwag again pulled attention to this hilarious incident where he being an opposition player, asked Pakistan captain Inzamam to make field changes during a Test in 2005.</p>

<p>Sehwag revealed while playing Danish Kaneria, he asked Inzamam to bring a fielder up so he could hit him for a six. Surprisingly, the Pakistan captain took that as a challenge and made the necessary field change, leading to what Sehwag had promised him.</p>

<p>“It was in 2005. Kaneria (Danish) was bowling round the wickets right at my pads. They were trying to stop me from scoring. I played an over or two defensively. I said to him, ‘Inzy bhai, it’s been a while. Now my legs are also hurting… How long should i stretch and take it on my pads?</p>

<p>“I told him to call the long-on fielder inside the circle. He asked me what I’d do then. I said that I’d hit a six. He said ‘your are joking.’ I said, ‘sent the fielder back if I don’t hit a six,” Sehwag said.</p>

<p>“He agreed and called the fielder closer. Kaneria bowled a googly. He didn’t know about this and I hit the googly for a six over long-on. Kaneria got angry. He said, ‘Inzi bhai, why did you bring the fielder up?’ Inzamam told him; ‘Be quiet, you don’t know what’s going on here…Go back and bowl. Otherwise, I’ll send you out from the ground."</p>

<p>The former World Cup-winning coach also praised Gill for his style of play and believes he has all the tools to be successful in all formats of the game. He added that he has the adaptability to play in the T20 and Test format.</p>

The World Championship medalist launched a scathing attack on the Indian cricketers and told the Indian Express, "The entire country worships cricket but not even a single cricketer has spoken up. We aren’t saying that you speak in our favour, but at least put up a neutral message and say there should be justice for whichever party."</p>

<p>She further opined, "It’s not like we don’t have big athletes in our country. There are cricketers… During the Black Lives Matter movement in the US, they showed their support. Don’t we deserve even that much?"</p>

What’s happening should never happen. This is a sensitive issue and must be dealt with in an impartial and transparent manner. <p>Former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 50th birthday on April 24 and the wishes poured in from every corner of the world for the master blaster. Sachin is regarded as one of the best batsmen ever to play the game and is often referred as 'God of Cricket' in India.</p>

<p>Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting, in the latest show of ICC Review, also said that Tendulkar is technically the best batsman he has ever seen.</p>

<p>"I've said forever Sachin's technically the best batter that I've ever seen, and played with or against. Whatever plan that we came up with as a bowling group, he found a way to combat it, whether it was in India or Australia. It's hard to rank and judge players as everyone is different and everyone plays the game differently. But certainly through the generation that I played, he was technically the best player that I saw," Ponting said.</p>

<p>"Regardless of how many runs you make, how many hundreds you make, to be physically good enough and have a skillset set good enough to stand up and play 200 Test matches is amazing. Virat's got all that ahead of him just yet. He's an unbelievably good player, there's no doubt about that. He's got over 70-odd international hundreds now. Sachin made a 100, didn't he? Let's wait until Virat's career's over and then I think it'll a much fairer comparison," Ponting added.</p>

<p>It remains to be seen if Kohli breaks Sachin's record on not but playing 200 Tests definitely seem like a very long shot for Virat despite him being one of the fittest players in cricket.</p>

A gate named after Sachin Tendulkar was on Monday unveiled at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground to mark the 50th birthday of the Indian batting legend. Another gate in the name of Brian Lara was also unveiled to mark 30 years since the West Indian legend's innings of 277 at the SCG. All visiting players at the venue will now take to the field through the Lara-Tendulkar Gates.

<p>In a statement, Cricket Australia said that the gates, situated between the members pavilion's away dressing room and the Noble Bradman Messenger Stand, are the ones visiting players will take to access the field.</p>

<p>Speaking on the special honour, Tendulkar said he was fond of the memories he had at the venue over the years. Tendulkar had an average of 157 at the SCG, scoring 785 runs in five Tests over the years with three centuries, including the memorable 241 not out in January 2004.</p>

<p>"The Sydney Cricket Ground has been my favourite ground away from India," Tendulkar said in the statement.</p>

<p>"I have had some great memories at the SCG right from my first tour of Australia in 1991-92. It is a great honour to have the gates used by all visiting cricketers to access the field of play at the SCG named after me and my good friend Brian."</p>

<p>The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is all set for a special celebration on Saturday in the Mumbai Indian vs Punjab Kings clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The special celebration will take place to mark the 50th birthday of the legend that Sachin Tendulkar is. <p>Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has once again urged the decision makers to work on the revival of ODIs - the format he feels is getting held back because of lack of balance between the bat and ball. Master Blaster Sachin, who will turn 50 on April 24th, has lamented the lack of advantages for bowlers as the reason for slow-death of One-Dayers.</p>

<p>As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Sachin, while interacting with a few journalists, said considering all formats are very different, ODI still needs to be worked upon first, just for it longegivity. Sachin added with the ODIs favouring batters too much, this format is not exciting as it used to be.</p>

<p>"I feel all three formats are completely different. Somewhere I do feel [that in the] one-day format, people need to have a look at it closely," Sachin told journalists. "I feel there is an imbalance between the bat and the ball. It is too much in favour of the batters at this point."</p>

<p>The Indian legend is not a fan of two new balls in ODIs as he feels it kills the chance of reverse swing or the discolouration of the ball - something that used to work in bowler's favour back in the day. Explaining this, Sachin said the batters used top find it hard to pick the ball due to same reasons, which was a challenge in itself.</p>

<p>The former right-handed batter added such little elements are missing from the game, and because of which, the bowlers suffer in the end.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"With two new balls, even in the 25th over, the ball is literally 12 or 13 overs old. There is no such thing as reverse swing, or the discolouration of the ball, or the ball becoming soft. These factors really put a lot of pressure on the bowling side. There were challenges [for batters] where one did not pick the ball because of the discolouration. That was an advantage for a bowler.</p>

<p>"And with field restrictions, we need to balance that out. Give some advantage to the bowlers as well. I find that element missing in ODI cricket right now," Sachin added.</p>

<p>Other than in batting, Sachin achieved some milestones as a bowler too, and feels because of this rule of having five fielders inside the ring between 11-40th over, the spinners, in general, have gone defensive with their lines; as a result, they are unable to create the difference.</p>

<p>"Also, with the introduction of five fielders in the ring… I was speaking to a lot of spinners, and the overall opinion is that 'we cannot change our line'," he said. "If an offspinner is bowling, he is forced to bowl a middle-stump line. Because you either have to have your deep point in the ring or you need to bring in the long-off because on the on side, you have three fielders in the deep and here you can have only one fielder in the deep.</p>

<p>"So they cannot deceive a batter by getting him to play a cover drive. The overall opinion is that 'we have to kind of settle for a defensive line'. I would say that some adjustments need to be made," Sachin suggested.</p>

<p>Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has backed Indian batsman Virat Kohli to break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 international centuries.</p>

He is concentrating and having a good time with his cricket. So he should remain focused and cross the 100-century barrier. And India will reserve high praise for him. And all these trash talks about Babar Azam and Virat Kohli - these are great players. Who is bigger than Kohli or Babar in Asia? No one. So all these loose talks are done just to grab attention,” Akhtar added.</p>

<p>Notably, Kohli is second on the list of most international tons with 75 centuries. Kohli has scored 28 Test tons with the most recent one coming after nearly three and half years in the fourth Test against Australia in the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy.</p>

<p>Former India great Sachin Tendulkar, while speaking at a program, has suggested that India should pick their squad as per the conditions for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia.</p>

<p>The WTC Final will be played in England from June 7-11 and the English conditions are known to be supportive to fast bowlers unlike India's spin-conducive pitches. Sachin, keeping the conditions in mind, said one has to understand the condition and pick the squad accordingly.</p>

<p>“In Test cricket, you will have to understand conditions for the next five days and pick the squad accordingly. We have played well and we have a good team, a balanced team. It would be slightly challenging for a captain to have extra spinners in the team to get the balance right. I am only thinking from India’s point of view, let Australians do what they want to do. Sachin suggested&nbsp;instead of playing two innings of 50 overs each, the match must be divided into four quarters of 25 overs. With that, how it is in Test cricket, both teams will have two innings to bat in but instead of 20 wickets, each team will have ten wickets and if one team is all out in the first quarter, they won’t get the chance to bat in the second innings.</p>

<p>"Coming to the second bit, we should be playing 25 overs first. Divide it into 4 halves, like in Test cricket. In Tests, you have 20 wickets here you only have 10 wickets. If you are dismissed, you are out of the game for the next 25 overs as well. You can't come back and bat,” Sachin said. "Why I am saying this because we played a tournament in Sri Lanka where we played 118 overs without any result. On the first day, Sri Lanka batted first and we played 10 overs, the match was rained out. The match was again called off on the following day. We almost played 118 overs without any result,” he added.</p>
