“[I'm] getting there, finally," Livingstone said on LancsTV's coverage of Lancashire's opening County Championship fixture against Surrey. "It's been a long road: three or four days a week at the gym over the last three or four months. Maybe towards the end of this week or the start of next week, I'll fly out to India and get going again,” Liam said.

Elaborating on how on his current status, Liam said he is much better and has settled down a bit after taking some injections last week. Liam added after taking those injections, he managed to move out a bit, did some running and played cricket too.

“Feeling much better. I had some injections midway through last week. It's settled it down a lot, finally been able to get outside and do some running and get back to proper cricket stuff. That's probably been about four or five days now, so just trying to build back up to match fitness now,” he added.

After adapting the daring approach this season, the right-handed batter found success with the bat, having scored 23 and 23 and 60 in two games played. Particularly against Rajasthan, he took the attack to the opposition and had their backs against the wall in no time.

Upon completing his maiden IPL fifty, Simran thanked God and showered praises on his fellow opener and Punjab captain, Shikhar Dhawan for backing him throughout.&nbsp;

“I’m very thankful to God for my first fifty in five years of playing the IPL. It was an enjoyable knock, and I hope to continue like this,” Simran told Jitesh Sharma in a video posted by IPL on its social media handles.

Whenever we spoke to each other while batting, he told me to play my natural game and express myself, the rest I’ll handle,” Prabhsimran added.

Speaking about what changed for him this season or what is the secret behind his little success so far, the right-hander said that working hard on both fronts – batting and wicket-keeping, brought him laurels.

“There are no secrets (to his recent consistency), but there’s a lot of preparation around my fitness, batting and wicket-keeping. I try and practice in the nets just like I would in a match,” he added.

Punjab Kings have kickstarted their Indian Premier League (IPL) season 16 campaign on a winning note as they got the better of two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday, April 1. Punjab won the contest by seven runs after rain played spoilsport with Arshdeep Singh scalping three wickets with the ball.

<h3>Punjab start on winning note</h3>

Asked to chase 192 runs, KKR did not have the best of starts and lost three wickets in the powerplay. The likes of Mandeep Singh, Anukul Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz all departed in quick succession as KKR were left to play catch-up. However, a useful partnership between Venkatesh Iyer (34 off 28) and Nitish Rana (24 off 17) saw the two-time champions stay in the hunt.

But KKR again lost way and were 146/7 in 16 overs before the rain started to play a part. Needing 46 runs to win in 24 balls, KKR had lost seven wickets and paid a price for the poor start and lost the contest by seven runs on the DLS method.

An explosive half-century by Bhanuka Rajapaksa and his 86-run stand with skipper Shikhar Dhawan helped Punjab Kings reach a competitive total of 191/5 against Kolkata Knight Riders in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the home setting of Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Saturday.

After being put to bat first by KKR, PBKS got off to a solid start. Opener Prabhsimran Singh provided some early blitz, smashing Umesh Yadav for a six over the square leg on the fourth ball of the innings. Tim Southee was also smashed for two successive fours and a six in the second over. He was the pick of the bowlers for KKR, taking 2/54 in his four overs, while Narine, Varun and Umesh also got a wicket each.

KKR will next take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, April 4. On the horizon, Punjab Kings will take on last season’s finalist Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday.

After much hullabaloo, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition is&nbsp;set to kick off on Friday evening (March 31). The opening game will see last year's winners Gujarat Titans (GT) take on the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad. The competition is once again expected to set the stage on fire as ardent cricket fans across the globe will be glued to their tv screens to watch the proceedings.

The upcoming season will see the addition of the Impact Player Rule, teams naming their playing XIs after the toss and mark the return of the traditional home-and-away format during the league stage. The group stage will comprise as many as 70 games which will be followed by the playoffs and the final.&nbsp;

After the IPL 2022 auction and in the run-up to the tournament, a lot has changed in terms of squad composition for all ten teams. Livingstone has also represented England in 12 ODIs and 29 T20Is, He also has scored the fastest century by an England player in T20Is.

But PBKS finished at the sixth spot for the fourth season in a row despite his heroics. They won seven and lost seven out of their 14 matches, ending up with 14 points. They fell two points short of a potential spot in a playoff.

Sam Curran, the highest-paid player in IPL history, purchased for Rs 18.50 crore at the auction last year, has joined the team. He is the only English player left in the squad. Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of the competition as well, with Australia's Matthew Short named as his replacement.

Matthew Short was the 'Player of the Tournament' during the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23, representing Adelaide Strikers. He was the second-highest run scorer in the tournament with 458 runs at an average of 35.23 in 14 matches, with one century and two fifties and a best of 100*.

He also took 11 wickets in 14 matches, with the best bowling figures of 3/14. In all, he has played 67 T20s, in which he has scored 1,409 runs in 64 matches at an average of 23.88, with one century and seven fifties. He also has 22 wickets in the format.

Besides Livingstone, South African pacer Kagiso Rabada will also miss the opening nggame because of international cricket commitments. The bowler is expected to arrive in India on April 3 ahead of away match against Rajasthan Royals.

Shikhar Dhawan's stocks have gone down considerably following his poor run of form and the emergence of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill.
