<p>Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday (September 14), slammed the opposition's INDIA alliance calling it 'ghamandia' (arrogant). He further said that the bloc wants to destroy Sanatan Dharma and push the country back into "a thousand years' slavery".&nbsp;</p>

<p>While addressing a massive gathering at Bina in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi dubbed the INDIA bloc as an “INDI alliance” that "does not have a leader" and also denounced it for having a hidden agenda of attacking Sanatan Dharma.</p>

<p>"The 'ghamandia' alliance met in Mumbai recently. They have neither any policies, nor issues, nor a leader. They have a hidden agenda of attacking Sanatan Dharma which they want to destroy," he said.</p>

<p>"They are bent on destroying the ideologies, cultures and traditions that have kept the country and our people together for centuries," the PM added.</p>

<p>The Indian Prime Minister then asserted that Swami Vivekananda and Lokmanya Tilak also drew inspiration from Sanatan&nbsp;Dharma.</p>

<p>"The people of this INDIA alliance want to erase that 'Sanatan&nbsp;Dharma' which gave inspiration to Swami Vivekananda and Lokmanya Tilak. Today they have openly started targeting Sanatan, tomorrow they will increase the attacks on us. All 'Sanatanis' across the country and the people who love our country will have to be alert," he said.</p>

<p>Business 20 or B20 is one of the forums of G20 that represents the global business community. The summit was attended by over 1700 business leaders and experts from across the world. B20 was set up in 2010.</p>

<p>Addressing the industry leaders, PM Modi said that business can "transform potential into prosperity, aspirations into achievements, whether they are small or big."</p>

<p>PM Modi said that 'pro-poor policies' of his government would mean that India will have the biggest middle class in coming years.&nbsp;<br />

In his address, PM Modi asked business leaders to brainstorm on issues like cryptocurrency and Artificial Intelligence and stressed on the need for a global framework. He further said that technology disruption is happening at a rapid speed and there is a need to focus on 'ethical' AI.<br />

“India has launched a green credit system-- a pro-planet approach which every nation should adopt. We need to create an ecosystem that will make the planet healthy. Being conscious about one's health is important but one should also be concerned about the planet's health," he said while stressing on tackling climate change.<br />

The theme of the B20 Summit this time is R.A.I.S.E. which represents Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable and Equitable Businesses.&nbsp;B20 Summit has been organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).</p>

<p>Those in attendance include India's &nbsp;Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.</p>

<p>In addition, global business leaders who were scheduled to participate in the summit were &nbsp;Brad Smith, President and Vice Chairman of Microsoft, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna and Michael Miebach, Chief Executive Officer among other prominent names.</p>

<p>The big names in attendance also included Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of UAE-based DP World Group, Bernard Looney, CEO of BP, HSBC Holdings Group Chairman Mark E Tucker.</p>

<p>Allen Blue, Co-founder of LinkedIn was also scheduled to be present in addition to Abdulrahman Al Fageeh-Al, CEO of Saudi Arabia's SABIC&nbsp;</p>

<p>At the end of the summit on Sunday, the presidency of B20 will be handed over to Brazil.</p>

<p>Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, while addressing Lok Sabha, spoke on the Manipur issue and assured the citizens of the country that there will be peace in the violence-hit state in the near future. He also affirmed that the ones behind egregious crimes against women will be given severe punishment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Efforts are underway by the Centre, and state government to punish the accused in Manipur. I want to assure the people of the country that there will be peace in Manipur in the near future," he said.</p>

<p>He then promised the people of Manipur that the government will leave no stone unturned to bring the state back on the path of development.</p>

<p>"The violence in Manipur is saddening. Crimes against women are unacceptable and the central and state governments are working together to ensure the guilty are punished," he said.</p>

<p>While China argued against the usage, most participating nations sided with India as deciding the theme of the G20 events remains the&nbsp;prerogative of the presidency and the host nation.</p>

<p>Eventually, the final G20 document -&nbsp;Outcome Document and Chair's Summary for Energy transition, only carried the English translation of the concept of<em>&nbsp;Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam </em>but was retained in the logo/letterhead of each document.<em>&nbsp;</em></p>

commitments, said that India has demonstrated leadership in climate action and achieved its non-fossil installed electric capacity target nine years in advance.</p>

<p>On Saturday, in a video message to the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting in Goa, the Prime Minister said that India plans to achieve 50 per cent non-fossil installed capacity by the year 2030.</p>

<p>“No talk about the future, sustainability or growth and development can be complete without energy. It impacts development at all levels, from individuals to nations,” the Prime Minister said at the meeting that brought together ministers from the countries in the G20 grouping.</p>

<p>He then underlined that India is among the top global leaders in solar as well as wind power and is making great efforts in green growth and energy transition.</p>

<p>“India is the most populated nation and the fastest-growing large economy in the world yet we are moving strongly on our climate commitments... We achieved our non-fossil, installed electric capacity target 9 years in advance. We have now set a higher target, we plan to achieve 50 per cent non-fossil installed capacity by 2030," PM Modi said.</p>

<p>He further highlighted that the entire world looks to the G20&nbsp;group to advance sustainable, just, affordable, inclusive, and clean energy transition and urged them to ensure that the Global South is not left behind.</p>

<p>“We must ensure low-cost finance for developing countries,” PM Modi said.</p>

<p>“We must find ways to bridge technology gaps, promote energy security, and work on diversifying supply chains. And, we must strengthen collaboration on the 'fuels for the future,'” he said.</p>

<p>"In 2015, we began a small movement, by launching a scheme for the use of LED lights, this became the largest LED distribution programme in the world. Saving more than 45 billion units of energy per year," the prime minister said.</p>

<p>He further added that India's domestic electrical market is projected to reach 10 million annual sales by 2030.</p>

<p>"We have commenced the rollout of 20 per cent ethanol-blended petrol this year. Our aim is to cover the entire country by 2025," he said.</p>

<p>"The aim is to make India, a global hub for the production, use and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives," the PM said.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the advisor to Prime Minister Bhaskar Khulbe, on Saturday, wrote to the Union Health Ministry to provide 150 ventilators to the Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre in Delhi.</p>

<p>The ventilators have been provided to the COVID Care Centre under PM-CARES Fund after a request was made by the Director-General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) SS Deswal.</p>

<p>The ITBP run Sardar Patel COVID Care Centre at the Radha Soami Satsang Beas facility in Delhi started functioning on April 26 with 500 oxygen beds.&nbsp;<br />

<p>Vietnam's foreign ministry has not confirmed whether <strong>President Trump</strong> would attend the virtual meeting. The US president had attended the summit in 2017, however, the Trump administration has only sent representatives during the last two meetings.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi took extensive review meetings of the defence ministry departments dealing with indigenous defence production and development before the release of the negative import list by the government under which 101 items and equipment have been banned for procurement from abroad, reported ANI.</p>

<p>A few days ago, the Defence Ministry issued a list of 101 items compiled by the Department of Military Affairs including big-ticket items like submarines, artillery guns and assault rifles which would not be imported from abroad in a phased manner in the next two to three years.</p>

<p>"The Prime Minister took an extensive review of the Department of Defence Production and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in the last fortnight to know about the work being done by them and what all capabilities have they developed over these years," the ANI report said quoting government sources.</p>

<p>During separate review meetings in the Prime Minister`s Office, details were presented to the Modi about the different projects and major work done by them for increasing indigenization in the military hardware being used by the armed forces for their different operational requirements, the sources said.</p>

<p>During the meetings held in presence of senior bureaucrats including Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar, the Prime Minister also sought to know the status of the preparation of the negative imports list which was announced in May this year during the COVID-19 lockdown period as measures to boost indigenous production in the military sector, the sources said.</p>

<p>The Prime Minister was briefed by the Chief of Defence Staff on the status of the list and also how there would be a frequent review of the list and more items would be added to it, the sources said. The complaints and suggestions of private sector industry were also mentioned during the meetings, the sources added.</p>

<p>It is the 15th edition of the summit and will be co-chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. &nbsp;</p>

<p>COVID-19 crisis will be a major focus&nbsp;with EU release on the summit saying, "As the world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, the leaders will discuss global cooperation and solidarity to protect lives, to mitigate the socio-economic consequences and to strengthen preparedness and response capacities."</p>

<p>Reviving the India-EU FTA talks is also expected to be the&nbsp;top focus.</p>

<p>An aggressive China will also be another area of priority. Recently in an exclusive interview with WION, the EU envoy to India Ugo Astuto had said, "EU and India share the same values of democracies and pluralism, we are an open society. We strongly believe in multilateralism, in a cooperative approach to international relations.. EU and India share priorities that will be central when we shape the world's agenda in a post-COVID-19 world. "</p>

<p>Adding, "It is important we strengthen EU cooperation with other major Asian partners such as India, notably India but also Japan, South Korea."</p>
