He was speaking at a ceremony where a commemorative coin on Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti was released.&nbsp;

"It is because of the efforts of central government Kartarpur corridor is being built. Now, Indians and Sikh don't need to use binoculars, they can go to Narowal without visas and can pay respects at the Darbar Sahib," Modi said.

He explained that the corridor is "atonement of the mistake of August of 1947" and "despite the holy site being just a few kilometres away, the important pilgrimage site for Sikhs was not taken (on the Indian side.) The corridor will reduce the damage that was done."

Days after India and Pakistan announced that they build a corridor on the respective sides in November of 2018, PM Modi had then given parallels and said, "Who would have thought that Berlin wall would fall. With the blessings of Guru Nanak Dev ji, Kartarpur corridor will not be just a corridor but will act as a bridge to connect people"

The Indian cabinet had passed a resolution that a corridor will be built from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur District till the border on November 22, 2018. On that day itself, the Ministry of External Affairs also informed Islamabad through Pakistan's high commission in Delhi its decision to build Kartarpur Corridor and urged "Pakistan to develop a corridor in their territory from the International Border to Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib."

The Indian Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation stone on November 26 while Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan laid the foundation stone on 28 of the same month. The corridor is being built as part of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak which is being celebrated this year.&nbsp;

The prime minister flagged off the train which is set to cut train travel between Dibrugarh and &nbsp;Itanagar by 705 kms.

While inaugurating the bridge, the prime minister congratulated the north-east declaring that it was a historic day for the residents.&nbsp;

"The railroad will improve trade and is a lifeline for commuters," the prime minister said during his speech.&nbsp;"About sixteen years ago, Atalji came here. He had a vision for the development of the Bogibeel bridge. This bridge is also a tribute to his vision," PM Modi said.&nbsp;

"When Vajpayeeji's government lost power in 2004, several key infrastructure projects of his era were not completed," the PM added.

In a statement on Friday, before leaving for Japan, Modi described India and Japan a "winning combination" and said the island nation is New Delhi's most trusted partner in its economic and technological modernisation.

"Our complementarities make India and Japan a winning combination. Japan today is one of the most trusted partners in India's economic and technological modernisations and one of the top investors in India," he pointed out.

Modi also said that both economic and strategic ties with Japan have completely transformed in recent years.

"We have a special strategic and global partnership. Our ties with Japan, both economic and strategic, stand completely transformed in recent years. It is today a partnership of great substance and purpose. It rests on the strong pillars of India's Act East Policy, and our shared vision and commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific," he said.

In a special gesture, Modi will be hosted by his Japanese counterpart for a private dinner at his holiday home in the picturesque Yamanashi prefecture on October 28, which will be, perhaps, the first such reception to be extended to a foreign leader.

"Brain is the powerhouse which drives change," he said, adding that it will teach kids in the country on the importance of cleanliness.

PM Imran Khan said the government's "Clean Green Pakistan" initiative will be launched at the tehsil level.&nbsp;

According to the World Health Organisation(WHO) Pakistan was the most polluted country in the world followed by Qatar and Afghanistan last year. India was ranked ninth in the list. Australia was ranked the least polluted along with Brunei and New Zealand.&nbsp;

The WHO report said the country with a population of 196.17 million had the worst outdoor air quality. It had three cities in the top ten list of "dirtiest cities" in the world, making the country the most polluted, the WHO added.

Karachi, Peshawar and Rawalpindi were ranked the most polluted Pakistani cities by the WHO.

The report said in Karachi there appeared to be a lack of sanitation and clean water and it was "rich" in air pollution due to emissions from cars, rickshaws and buses combined with the burning of garbage had led to large-scale pollution in the port city.

The report further said that air pollution in Peshawar was due to vehicle emissions as well as industrial emissions and in northern Punjab city of Rawalpindi the increase in the number of vehicles and the presence of textile mills had added to the pollution in the last few decades.

The report pointed out that due to the high pollution in Pakistan's cities there has been an increase in respiratory diseases.

Pakistan was ranked 150th out of 189 countries in the Human Development Index(HDI) by the United Nations last year. Between 1990 and 2017, Pakistan’s HDI value increased 39 per cent overall, the UN report had said in 2017.

The moment came when Trump was leaving the podium at the conclusion of the event and US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warmly hugged Swaraj and introduced her to the president.

During the conversation, EAM Swaraj told Trump that she has brought greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Responding to the same, Trump, as per the Indian diplomatic sources, said, "I love India, give my regards to my friend Prime Minister Modi."

Swaraj was attending an event titled 'Global Call to Action on the World Drug Problem' chaired by the US president as the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly began in New York.

BJP president Amit Shah will also address a workers' congregation which will begin at 10 AM with a musical concert of singer Kailash Kher. An estimated 10 lakh party workers from 65,000 polling booths spread across 230 assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh will take part in the programme.

PM Modi to visit Bhopal today, security beefed up 

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday called Congress president Rahul Gandhi "irresponsible, liar" over his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection to the Rafale deal.&nbsp;

"It's a matter of shame for Congress that a person like Rahul Gandhi, who is irresponsible and is a liar, is their president. We can't expect anything else from a leader whose entire family is buried in scams, be it Bofors or National Herald," Prasad noted.

Prasad further added that no national party president, in the history of independent India, had ever used such words for the Prime Minister.&nbsp;
