Talking about the run-out after the match, Russell said, "I wanted to finish the game off, but we have a finisher this year in Rinku. He had told me what if the ball beats you, should we go for the run? I said for sure, I have faith in him to finish it on the last ball.”

Notably, Rinku had previously won a match for his team against the defending champion Gujarat Titans in the current season only, hitting five sixes off the last five balls of the match.

Russell also acknowledged his rise and said that if there had been any other batsman on non-strike apart from Rinku, he would not have taken off for the run.

“In any other game, with any other batter, I'm not sure if I would run (a bye off the penultimate ball from Arshdeep),” Russell said at the post-match press conference. "I've never really done those things before. I would back myself to bat the last delivery and get the job done. But when you have a guy like Rinku who has been so successful in the last couple of overs for us, and when you have such a fearless player who has a shot to counter any delivery, I was definitely confident. I gave him a hug and said 'listen, bring home the bacon for us. At the end of the day, we need you at this point', and he said, 'okay big man. No worries.' Happy days," he added.

With the win, KKR entered the mid-table logjam of 10 points but rose to the fifth position on the table and PBKS now are at seventh place.&nbsp;

Regular skipper Du Plessis was facing a rib issue and was not a match fit but was still called up to the initial squad to play. RCB opted to make use of the ‘Impact Player’ rule which saw Du Plessis being employed as a substitute player and was consequently subbed by Vijaykumar Vyshak. With the former South Africa skipper not available for the entire match Virat took over the charge as full-time skipper for the PBKS clash.

The decision proved to be noteworthy as Du Plessis scored 84 runs off 54 deliveries and missed out on a hundred. His exploits saw RCB put 174/4 on the board while Virat Kohli also scored 59 runs before he returned to the pavilion.

On his captaincy return, Virat also reached two milestones as he scored his 50th fifty for RCB in the IPL. On the horizon, he also joined the 600 fours club in the IPL and looked in great touch before getting out.

Tewatia has endured a reputation sorts in recent times as a pitch-hitter while winning matches for GT late on. He has been influential for the franchise in the last two seasons where he also helped them win crucial encounters in the 2022 season. He credited PBKS bowlers for pulling their side back in the contest after Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill had given the visitors a good start.

“Credit should be given to them for pulling it back. Towards the end, it was reversing and it became difficult to hit at will. But this is cricket - they came back well but we finished the game to be on the winning side," said Tewatia.

Speaking on his approach in the contest and with a handful of deliveries to go in the contest, Tewatia was full of confidence.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) shelled out a whopping Rs 11.50 crore (INR 115 million) to rope in the England star, who is known for his big-hitting ability and can also be a handy leg-spinner.

Livingstone triggered a bidding war between the teams as soon as his name was announced at the mega auction on Sunday. Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders were locked in a battle for the England star before Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings joined the bidding war. Punjab eventually managed to get the England star for Rs 11.5 crore.

While social media was full of reactions over the move as many lauded Punjab for roping in the hard-hitting English batter, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar labelled the signing a 'gamble'. Manjrekar pointed out Livingstone's struggles in the IPL last season when he was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad.

Livingstone played five matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021 and managed to score only 42 runs. He was dropped from the side after a series of disappointing performances before being brought back but failed to showcase his skills and talent in the league.

Manjrekar said Livingstone was a gamble considering the price he went at and his past performance do not instil much confidence. While he praised the Royals for making some great signings at the IPL 2022 mega auction, he insisted Livingstone was a gamble.

"Before the auction, I said that one of the best performers in the auction have been Punjab Kings. They have got some significant players, Mayank Agarwal, Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow, Harpreet Brar was a great selection. They have retained Arshdeep which is a great decision. They have got Rabada and they have got Rahul Chahar. These are formidable proven IPL talents. They had a lot of money left as they didn't spend a lot on their above-mentioned picks," Manjrekar told Star Sports.

"I still maintain that Liam Livingstone is a gamble, considering his previous IPL experience. Odeon Smith is a story that we have seen many times before. Owners get excited about the talent that they see outside and sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't," said Manjrekar on Star Sports.

1) The forthcoming IPL 2022 mega auction will be held in a bio-bubble environment. 
2) The officials representing the ten franchises will have to undergo&nbsp;COVID-19 tests and return with negative RT-PCR report on February 9, 10&nbsp; as well as on the 11th.&nbsp; 
3) Unlike the IPL 2018 mega auction, no&nbsp;Right to Match (RTM) option will be&nbsp;available&nbsp;in the upcoming&nbsp;auction proceedings. 
4) The IPL 2022 purse has seen an increase,&nbsp;from Rs 80 crore&nbsp;to 90 crore (INR 800 to 900 million) to accommodate more players. This has been done to rope in more players by focusing primarily&nbsp;on India's&nbsp;domestic circuit. 
5) The Indian board will also keep a tab&nbsp;on those arriving at the team hotel on February 11. They will be closely monitored for COVID-19 symptoms. 
6) The testing will take place&nbsp;between 12 am to 7 am for the smooth conduct of the mega&nbsp;auction. Till their test reports do not come negative,&nbsp;the members will stay put in their respective hotel rooms. 
7) All&nbsp;attendees are also expected to share full details including COVID vaccination results (if any) with the BCCI's&nbsp;medical team.

The IPL 2022 mega auction is set to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru as all the ten franchises are eager to rope in some marquee and promising talents in their respective squads.
