In this obsession with becoming number one, and in the chaos-filled world we live in, I believe that people have invited restlessness into their lives. To find a solution for this, when we consider our ancient principles, balance has always been a key concept in our tradition.Read the Upanishads. They talk about the&nbsp;“Purusharth Chatushtaya” (the four aims of life): Artha (wealth), Kama (desires), Dharma (righteousness), and Moksha (liberation). Mimaki added, “In Gaza, children in blood are being held. It’s like in Japan 80 years ago."

The co-founder further said that the group's win of this year's Nobel Peace Prize would boost its efforts to demonstrate that the abolition of nuclear weapons was possible.&nbsp;

“It would be a great force to appeal to the world that the abolition of nuclear weapons can be achieved,” said Mimaki during a news conference in Hiroshima.

Narges Mohammadi&nbsp;was represented by her family, including her husband Taghi Rahmani, who expressed their pride in being her voice.

Mohammadi, a vocal advocate against the compulsory hijab and the death penalty in Iran, has faced numerous arrests and convictions over the years. The honour was accepted on her behalf by her 17-year-old twins, Ali and Kiani Rahmani.

Ali Rahmani, ahead of the speech was "very, very optimistic" about meeting his mother one day. He said, "We are not nervous; we are very proud to be able to be the voice of our mother and do our best to move things forward. The prize will reinforce our determination to go to the end."&nbsp;

"Maybe I'll see her in 30 or 40 years but if not, I don't think I'll ever see her again. But that's OK because my mother will always be with me in my heart and with my family,"&nbsp;Kiana further said.

Meanwhile, in protest of the limitations on medical care and the compulsory veiling of women in Iran, Mohammadi initiated a hunger strike from her prison cell.

Her husband revealed her motivation, saying, "She said, 'I will start my hunger strike on the day that I am being granted this prize, perhaps then the world will hear more about it'."

"The women of Iran have been an inspiration for the world," news agency AFP quoted the UN human rights office as saying.

"Their courage and determination in the face of reprisals, intimidation, violence and detention has been remarkable. They have been harassed for what they wear and what they do not wear, and face increasingly stringent legal, social and economic measures against them."

"Narges Mohammadi's case is emblematic of the huge risks that women take to advocate for the rights of all Iranians. We call for her release and the release of all human rights defenders jailed in Iran."

Human rights office spokeswoman Elizabeth Throssell at a press briefing in Geneva said that the Nobel award for Mohammadi "really highlights the courage and determination of the women of Iran and how they are an inspiration".

Nobel Peace Prize 2023 goes to Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi

'Our beloved Afghanistan' is a radio programme created by journalist and women's right activist Mahbouba Seraj. The name of the programme has been the description of the life the 74-year-old has lived in a country where the peace has remained a contested affair and women's rights have been the first casualties of prolonged conflicts.&nbsp;

Seraj has been living in Afghanistan since 2003. Her work was recognised by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), a Norway-based independent research institution, which nominated her for the Nobel Peace Prize 2023.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which chooses the recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize each year, does not reveal who is nominated.&nbsp;

But nominators, who range from politicians and former winners to think tanks, can reveal the identity of the person they have nominated.&nbsp;

Seraj is the co-founder of Afghan Women's Network, a non-profit that aims to build an Afghanistan in which women and men &nbsp;live in a justice and discrimination free society. She is the niece of reformist Afghan King Amanullah Khan, who won independence from Britain in 1919 and ruled until 1929.&nbsp;

She has been a journalist, humanitarian, and peace activist for over more than four decades.

Since Taliban stormed into power in August 2021,&nbsp;women have been pushed to the margin in Kabul's rearranged power corridors, almost as a means of assertion of administrative authority of Afghanistan's new hardline rulers.&nbsp;

Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for girls' education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, was bestowed with a prestigious honorary fellowship by Oxford University's Linacre College.

The Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) promotes numerous Pakistan-related events at Oxford University. In addition to visiting fellowships for Pakistani faculty members and unique talks on Pakistan, this also includes graduate scholarships for eligible students.

Malala became the first Pakistani to receive the honour, the Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) announced Friday. The award was handed to Malala in a ceremony on 18 April.&nbsp;

The Malala Fund co-founder joins renowned figures like Nobel Prize winner Sir Paul Nurse and the first Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of South Africa Dr Frene Ginwala who were also awarded this honorary fellowships by the college.

The 25-year-old advocate for females' education addressed people gathered during the event. She reminisced about visiting her friends at Linacre College and praised the OPP's influence.

Hailing OPP's vision, she said the partnership is changing the lives of students as well as acting as a ray of hope for those studying in Pakistan. Malala's unrelenting dedication to education and initiatives to empower women were hailed by principal Dr. Nick Brown.&nbsp;

He said, “Malala is globally recognised for her extraordinary work in support of women’s education, particularly for those from the least advantaged backgrounds”.

The principal of the institution emphasised that the awarding of an honorary fellowship to Malala, a steadfast supporter of the OPP, bolstered the already close ties between Linacre Institution and the OPP.

She has spoken at the United Nations, met with world leaders, and written a book about her experiences. In 2014, Malala became the youngest person ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Malala's activism has inspired people around the world, and she continues to work tirelessly to promote education and gender equality.

"Prime Minister Modi has intervened on a &nbsp;positive note in the Ukraine crisis, warning Russia against using nuclear weapons," Toje told Times Now news channel, while referring to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Today's era is not an era of a war' comment to the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I think any responsible leader in the world would like to give this message. It is all the more important when it comes from a powerful country like India," Asle Toje said further.&nbsp;

Asle Toje said that while Narendra Modi has been the Prime Minister of India for many years now, he is perceived as one of the eldest statesmen of the world, who has credibility and is taken more seriously.&nbsp;

Rachinsky, who heads the human rights organisation Memorial, said that Russia's "imperial ambitions" inherited from the ex-Soviet Union "still thrive today".&nbsp;

He added that the Russian president and his "ideological servants" have hijacked the anti-fascist struggle "for their own political interests" and any resistance to Russia is called 'fascism'.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the leader of a Ukrainian rights group that won the Nobel Peace Prize said that Ukraine should continue to fight Russian troops. He further added that any move to address the crisis by diplomatic talks would be interpreted as a sign of weakness.&nbsp;

Oleksandra Matviichuk, who is the head of the CCL, said: "The people of Ukraine want peace more than anyone else in the world. But peace cannot be reached by a country under attack by laying down its arms."&nbsp;

"They have made an outstanding effort to document war crimes, human right abuses and the abuse of power. Together they demonstrate the significance of civil society for peace and democracy", the head of the Norwegian Nobel committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen, told reporters.

The committee called for the release of the Belarusian human rights advocate who is currently held in Belarus for tax evasion since 2021.

"Our message is an urge to the authorities in Belarus to release Mr. Bialiatski and we do hope this will happen and that he can come to Oslo and receive the honour bestowed upon him," the head of the Norwegian Nobel committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen, told reporters.

The committee insisted that the prize&nbsp;was not directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"This prize is not addressing President Putin ... except that his government ... is representing an authoritarian government that is suppressing human rights activists," Reiss-Andersen said.

Asserting that its founder Alfred Nobel was "turning in his grave," Belarus criticised the Nobel Committee on Friday for awarding its famous peace prize to activist Ales Bialiatski, who is currently incarcerated.

"In recent years, a number of fundamental decisions of the Nobel Committee are so politicised that, excuse me, Alfred Nobel is tormented and turning in his grave," foreign ministry spokesman Anatoly Glaz said on Twitter.

The prize comes with a gold medal, a diploma and a prize sum of 10 million Swedish kronor (about $900,000). The award will be presented at a formal ceremony in Oslo on December 10.

The Nobel season winds up Monday with the Nobel Economics Prize.

Nobel Peace Prize 2022 jointly awarded to human rights champions in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia

A Russian court ordered the seizure of rights group Memorial’s headquarters in Moscow just hours after it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2022. According to the Interfax agency, the ruling was announced by Tverskoy district court who said that the headquarters will "become state property".

The rights group was accused of "rehabilitating Nazi criminals and discrediting authorities and creating a false image of the USSR" in Russia, according to Reuters. The group was disbanded in December 2021 after documenting Stalinist crimes since its creation in 1989.

"The archive was collected here, and people gave us their documents not for us to take them somewhere," Memorial representative Yan Rachinsky said in an official statement.

"Our aim is to preserve the archive."

Earlier, the rights group, along with jailed Belarusian activist Ales Byalyatski and Ukraine's Center for Civil Liberties, were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work amidst the war in Ukraine.

"We believe that it is a war that is a result of an authoritarian regime, aggressively committing an act of aggression," Norwegian Nobel Committee chair Berit Reiss-Andersen told Reuters.
