A new study review has revealed that teenagers, young adults, pregnant women, drivers and people who are mentally ill should avoid cannabis. The in-depth study was published in the BMJ.

The findings conducted by international experts are based on an umbrella review of cannabis. Experts and researchers from the UK analysed data from 101 meta-analyses&nbsp;on "cannabis use." The studies were published from 2002 to 2022 and looked at different combinations of cannabis and its medicines.

However, cannabis helps in reducing seizures in epilepsy patients and cannabis-based medicines help in multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, inflammatory bowel disease and palliative care.

The review said that cannabis was linked to poor mental health and cognition, increased incidents of car crashes among drivers and led to poor outcomes for babies when pregnant mothers consumed the drug.

The authors added that young people should avoid consuming the drug while their brain is still developing.&nbsp;

They argued that the most affected were teenagers and young adults and it should be avoided as&nbsp;"cognition is paramount for optimising academic performance and learning."

The experts wrote, "Convincing or converging evidence recommends avoiding cannabis during adolescence and early adulthood in people prone to have or have mental health disorder, who are pregnant, and while driving."

Cannabis in general is not legal in the UK and is known as a class B drug. However, medicinal cannabis – or cannabis-based medicines – can be used.

Chinese president Xi Jinping is likely to skip a summit of G20 leaders in India next week. Quoting sources, news agency Reuters stated premier Li Qiang is expected to represent Beijing at the summit. Chinese aggression has sparked clashes along the mostly rugged, mountainous border, known as the line of actual control. Amid Xi Jinping's irrational territorial ambitions, both sides have increasingly militarised their border policies and shown no indication of backing down. The situation on the border remains tense due to china's violation of norms. Beijing and New Delhi are hardening their positions on either side of the line of actual control. India is firm, peace and tranquility in border areas is essential. New Delhi says it is fully prepared and committed to protecting sovereignty and dignity. The G20 members represent around 85% cent of the global GDP, over 75% of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population.

Days after releasing a controversial map that antagonised the entire neighbourhood, Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to skip the G20 summit&nbsp;scheduled to take place in the Indian capital city of New Delhi next month, a Reuters report has claimed.&nbsp;

The report quoted sources familiar with the matter in India and China who stated that&nbsp;Premier Li Qiang is expected to represent Beijing at the September 9-10 meeting.&nbsp;

Xi pulling out of the summit comes days after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced he was not travelling to India to attend the meet in person. He called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conveyed that Foreign Minister&nbsp;Sergei Lavrov will represent Russian interests on the global platform.&nbsp;

It was anticipated that Xi might meet with US President Joe Biden, who has confirmed his attendance at the summit. Some reports claimed that Xi might square up against PM Modi yet again, after holding a rare conversation on the sidelines of the BRICS meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, earlier this month.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed&nbsp;reducing tensions in the bilateral relationship that soured after clashes along their Himalayan frontier in 2020 left 24 soldiers dead.

Donald Trump's former lawyer Rudy Giuliani has been issued a default judgment and ordered to pay sanctions of nearly $133,000 in a defamation and civil conspiracy lawsuit brought by two Georgia election workers.&nbsp;

The workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea'&nbsp;ArShaye Moss, claimed that Giuliani had defamed them by alleging the mishandling of ballots in the 2020 presidential election.

<h2>Penalty for 'wilful misconduct'</h2>

US District Judge Beryl Howell imposed the 'default' judgment and monetary penalty after Giuliani repeatedly failed to comply with orders to turn over electronically stored documents and evidence sought by the two election workers' lawyers.

CNBC reports that Judge Howell criticised Giuliani for "wilful... misconduct" and "slippery" statements, failing to fulfil his obligations under the legal proceedings known as discovery.&nbsp;

In her 57-page opinion, the Judge said: "The bottom line is that Giuliani has refused to comply with his discovery obligations and thwarted plaintiffs Ruby Freeman and Wandrea' ArShaye Moss’s procedural rights to obtain any meaningful discovery in this case."

"For the reasons set out below, the pending motion [for sanctions] is granted. Default judgment will be entered against Giuliani as a discovery sanction."

The judge's ruling emphasised Giuliani's failure to comply with discovery requests and ordered him to personally pay the plaintiffs $89,172.50 as reimbursement for their attorneys' fees and costs associated with their motion to compel evidence. Additionally, two of Giuliani's companies were ordered to pay the plaintiffs $43,684 for the same conduct.

She has also ordered Giuliani and the plaintiffs' lawyers to propose three trial dates in the US District Court in Washington, DC, to determine the amount of compensatory and punitive damages he should pay due to the&nbsp;judgment.

South Koreans are increasingly shunning marriage, shows a new government report.&nbsp;

As per the report released on Monday (August 28) only one-third of South Koreans had a positive perception about marriage. The trend, which has drastically accelerated over the past decade, spells demographic trouble for the already ageing nation.

<h2>Marriage, a thing of past?</h2>

The report by Statistics Korea found that only 36.4 per cent of South Koreans, between the ages of 19 and 34, wanted to get married. This is down from 56.5 per cent in 2012.

As per the report, the reason behind these plummeting numbers&nbsp;includes economic concerns over the rising costs of living and unaffordable housing.

Also read |&nbsp;South Korean cities play cupid, host blind-dating events to up fertility rate

Respondents who were polled last year also said that one reason they are not getting married is because they do not have enough money for marriage. Some reported feeling that marriage is simply not necessary.

<h2>How the genders responded?</h2>

Surprisingly, among those who had a positive perception towards marriage, a majority were men, and only 28 per cent of women responded positively.

In South Korea, there is even a word for women who chose to forego marriage, and remain single: "bihon".

According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the reason more women are deciding to stay single could be because of their advancement in education and the workplace. This means that compared to earlier generations, the "opportunity cost of marriage" is higher for today's women.

Given the persistent gender stereotypes, getting married or having children might require women to make concessions concerning their careers or education, reports the OECD. This is especially true because of the challenges women face in returning to work after giving birth.

<h2>Child-free life</h2>

It's not just marriage, more and more people, as per the Statistics Korea report, are now dismissive towards childbirth. Since 2018, the number of those who choose to remain child-free is rising. More than half the people surveyed last year reportedly said they don't see the need to have a child.

The trend is a cause of concern for South Korea, where last year the fertility rate fell to a record low of 0.78. As per the OECD, 2.1 is the rate needed for a stable population, South Korea's fertility rate is the lowest in the world.&nbsp;

As per Godinez, the news crew were covering a story about robberies in the neighbourhood. The story was supposed to air early on the morning news. However, the footage they had shot on robberies in West Town was also stolen along with the camera, and it never made it on-air.

<h2>What the police said</h2>

Chicago police said that the victims, 28-year-old man and 42-year-old man were outside when three masked men drove up to them in a grey sedan and a black SUV. After robbing the news crew, the robbers fled in their vehicles.

Police are yet to arrest anyone over the robbery. No injuries were reported.

To protect the privacy of the news crew, their names haven't been disclosed, said Godinez, adding: "They're OK, and we’re working on it together as a team."

<h2>Second TV crew robbery in a month</h2>

As per news agency AP, this was the second such robbery this month. Previously, on August 8th, a WLS-TV photographer was assaulted and robbed while covering a weekday afternoon news conference on Chicago's West Side.

Elon Musk's Tesla Inc will soon defend itself for the first time against allegations that the company's Autopilot driver assistant feature led to the death of multiple people.

The upcoming trial as per Reuters will be a major test of Tesla Chief Executive Musk's assertions about the technology.

<h2>The trials and Tesla</h2>

Tesla currently faces two trials, however, more are likely to follow.&nbsp;

The first, a civil lawsuit, is scheduled for mid-September at a California state court. It alleges that Tesla's autopilot system caused a man named Micah Lee's Model 3 vehicle to suddenly veer off a highway east of Los Angeles. As per the lawsuit, Tesla knowingly sold the car with defective safety systems.

Also read |&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/trending/indian-origin-executives-shine-across-global-corporations-this-is-how-elon-musk-reacted-629698">Indian-origin executives shine across global corporations. This is how Elon Musk reacted</a>

In 2019, the car which was travelling at the speed of 65 miles per hour, in a matter of seconds, crashed into a palm tree and burst into flames. The crash killed Lee, while the other two passengers, including an 8-year-old boy, were seriously injured.

The second trial is scheduled for October in a Florida state court. This one, also from 2019, caused Stephen Banner's Model 3 to drive under an 18-wheeler big rig truck, which sheared off the Tesla's roof and killed the owner.&nbsp;

<h2>What Tesla has to say</h2>

Tesla has repeatedly denied liability in both accidents and has blamed driver error. Musk's company says that "there are no self-driving cars on the road today," and claims that the Autopilot feature is safe when monitored by humans. In the Lee case, it also claimed that the driver (Lee) was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Reuters reports that these civil proceedings will probably reveal fresh evidence about what Musk and Tesla knew about the Autopilot feature's capabilities and deficiencies.

Previously in April, Tesla won a bellwether trial — a small consolidation of similar cases taken from a larger group and tried first. The company at the time claimed that it told its drivers that despite the 'Autopilot' and Full Self-Driving' names, the technology requires human monitoring.

Elon Musk's Tesla Inc will soon defend itself for the first time against allegations that the company's Autopilot driver assistant feature led to the death of multiple people. The upcoming trial as per Reuters will be a major test of Tesla Chief Executive Musk's assertions about the technology. The trials and Tesla Tesla currently faces two trials, however, more are likely to follow. Also read | Indian-origin executives shine across global corporations. This is how Elon Musk reacted In 2019, the car which was travelling at the speed of 65 miles per hour, in a matter of seconds, crashed into a palm tree and burst into flames. The crash killed Lee, while the other two passengers, including an 8-year-old boy, were seriously injured. The second trial is scheduled for October in a Florida state court. This one, also from 2019, caused Stephen Banner's Model 3 to drive under an 18-wheeler big rig truck, which sheared off the Tesla's roof and killed the owner. What Tesla has to say Tesla has repeatedly denied liability in both accidents and has blamed driver error. Elon Musk's Tesla in hot seat, faces trials over Autopilot safety concerns

In a rather unconventional approach to combat drink-driving, Japanese police are now encouraging individuals to consume alcohol.&nbsp;

After consuming alcohol, drivers are made to navigate a driving course and see for themselves how well they can handle driving.

<h2>The inspiration behind this campaign</h2>

CNN reports that this initiative was devised by the Chikushino Police Department in Fukuoka, southwest Japan, as part of its awareness campaign against drink-driving.&nbsp;

The campaign was launched after a tragic incident in August 2006, where a drunk driver claimed the lives of three children on a local bridge. This latest edition of the campaign took place at the Chikushino Automobile School in Chikushino City on August 22 and had 10 participants, including a 77-year-old.&nbsp;

<h2>How it went</h2>

Drivers were first evaluated on their reflexes and driving skills while sober. They were then provided enough alcohol to exceed the legal limit and given a driving course to complete.

Talking to CNN, a police spokesperson revealed that each participant had a driving instructor with them throughout the exercise, even riding with them in their respective vehicles.

Conducted within the confines of the driving school premises, the "hands-on event" allowed "drivers to experience for themselves the difference between driving before and after drinking and to get a sense of how dangerous drink-driving can be," said the spokesperson.

<h2>The results</h2>

Many participants, as per the spokesperson, acknowledged that the experience highlighted how they had been "overconfident" about their ability to drive under the influence of alcohol. They also realised that they made more errors than they thought they would. A few participants also noticed that their ability to control the vehicle was affected.

The police spokesperson expressed hope that "that more drivers will realise how dangerous drunk driving is."

<h2>Japan and alcohol consumption</h2>

Japan maintains relatively low alcohol consumption levels, found a 2021 study from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).&nbsp;

The nation witnessed a further decline in its alcohol consumption during the pandemic due to restrictions affecting the bar and other alcohol-selling places.

Japanese people consume an average of 8 litres per capita alcohol annually, this is equivalent to about 1.6 bottles of wine or 3 litres of beer per week per person.

Drink and drive? Japanese police use unique approach to show dangers of drunk driving

There's nothing more irritating than noisy, crying children while travelling on a flight. Stuck for hours in the air, all you can do is put on earplugs that do little to dissipate the noise. For people&nbsp;who hate this, a Turkish-Dutch airline is set to introduce an “only adult” zone.

The service for now will be introduced on Turkish-Dutch Corendon Airlines flights between Amsterdam and Curaçao starting November&nbsp;3.&nbsp;

<h2>Only adults</h2>

“This zone on the plane is intended for travellers travelling without children and for business travellers who want to work in a quiet environment,” said the airline in a statement.

As per the company's press release, the 'Only Adult' section is set up in the front section of the aircraft and will have 102 seats. Nine seats will be XL with extra legroom and 93 will be standard seats.&nbsp;

The quiet section will be separated from the rest of the aeroplane “by means of walls and curtains, creating a shielded environment that contributes to a calm and relaxed flight.”

Passengers aged 16 or more can travel in this section.

<h2>How much will it cost?</h2>

Passengers in the “only adult” zone will have to cough up some extra charges for the noiseless journeys.&nbsp;

As per the airline, a seat reservation in the 'Only Adult' aeroplane section will cost passengers 45 Euros (around 48.5 US dollars). The nine extra-legroom seats will have an additional surcharge and will cost people €100 (around 107.9 US dollars) per journey.

<h2>A win-win situation</h2>

Coredon says that the adult-only zone will not only be a win for travellers looking for a quiet environment but would also benefit parents of little children.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a directive, instructing all government ministries to seek his authorisation before engaging in "secret diplomatic meetings."&nbsp;

This move follows the recent turmoil caused by Israel's revelation of a meeting between Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and his Libyan counterpart Najla Mangoush in Rome last week.

In the aftermath of this meeting, the Libyan Foreign Minister Mangoush was sacked, and it also triggered protests on the streets of Tripoli.

<h2>Unplanned meeting or not</h2>

The Libyan Foreign Ministry on Monday emphasised that it had rejected an invitation from Israel for a meeting and that the interaction between the two sides was both "unplanned and incidental."&nbsp;

It further asserted that the meeting did not involve any "deliberations, agreements, or consultations," and that Tripoli "outright rejects" the idea of normalisation with Israel.

However, talking to Reuters, an Israeli official denied Libya's "short and unplanned" statement and said that the meeting was in fact prearranged "at the highest levels" within Libya. The official also said that the meeting lasted for over one hour.&nbsp;

Speaking to The Associated Press, a Libyan official, revealed that the meeting lasted for approximately two hours and that Mangoush later briefed the Libyan prime minister upon her return to Tripoli.&nbsp;

The official also said that this meeting was the culmination of US-brokered efforts aimed at having Libya join a group of Arab nations, and establishing diplomatic relations with Israel.

The official further revealed that the subject of normalising relations between Libya and Israel had initially been broached in a meeting involving Dbeibah and CIA Director William Burns, which took place when the latter visited the Libyan capital in January.

<h2>How it'll affect future efforts at normalisation</h2>

As per Haaretz, diplomats from Arab nations and the US believe that in the foreseeable future, the recent turmoil may have implications for efforts to foster normalisation between Israel and other Arab and Muslim countries.

Netanyahu's directive: Israeli government ministries must seek approval for 'secret diplomatic meetings'

In a first-of-its-kind trial, scientists have found that playing a Mozart lullaby may help reduce the pain experienced by newborn babies&nbsp;undergoing medical procedures. The study involved 100 infants in a randomised, blinded clinical trial and&nbsp;the results were published in&nbsp;Pediatric Research.

A team of scientists from&nbsp;Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia worked alongside doctors to conduct the trial on the babies at a community hospital in the Bronx, New York.

During a standard heel prick procedure, before taking the blood, just over half of the infants were subjected to a&nbsp;soothing, instrumental lullaby&nbsp;by the famous musician Mozart for twenty minutes. The other half had the blood taken out in silence. As per the SOP, all infants were given&nbsp;0.5 millilitres of sugar solution two minutes before the heel prick was performed.&nbsp;

Notably, the lullaby played through the heel prick test and continued till five minutes later. The medical professionals who took the blood wore noise-cancelling headphones, so they weren't aware if the music was playing or not. Moreover, the parents weren't allowed to physically cuddle the babies during the trial.&nbsp;

<h2>Findings of the study&nbsp;</h2>

The investigator scored the infants' pain using crying, breathing patterns, facial expressions, limb movement and alertness as indicators. Consequently, the study findings revealed that newborns exposed to Mozart showed "a statistically and clinically significant" reduction in scores on the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale (NIPS), and this was true before, during, and after the heel prick.

"Our study objectively proves reduction in pain scores by using recorded music in a randomised, controlled, blinded study of predominantly non-white, term neonates. Recorded music is effective in reducing acute pain in term neonates and can be widely used even in low-resource nurseries," the study stated.&nbsp;

Aditya L1 Mission: After Chandrayaan-3, the Indian Space Research Organisation is all set to launch India's first space-based solar mission Aditya L1 this week. ISRO Chief S Somanath on Saturday (August 26) announced that the solar mission has reached Sriharikota and is ready to be launched. The launch will take place on September 02,&nbsp;Hindustan Times reported.

In a tweet on X, ISRO shared a post sharing the details about the mission. The post read, "The launch of Aditya-L1,&nbsp;the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun, is scheduled for September 2, 2023, at 11:50 Hrs. The spacecraft is planned to be placed in a halo orbit around the Lagrange Point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, which is almost 1.5 million km away from the Earth.&nbsp;

Somanath said, "After the launch, it will take 125 days from the Earth to reach Lagrange point 1 (L1). We have to wait till then."&nbsp;

The Aditya L-1 mission aims to study the sun from an orbit around the L1 and will carry seven payloads to observe coronal heating, solar wind acceleration, coronal magnetometry, origin along with chromosphere, photosphere and the outermost layer.&nbsp;

What is Lagrange Point?

The Lagrange point, also known as L1, is positioned in space where the objects sent there are to stay. It was named in honour of Italian-French mathematician Josephy-Loius Lagrange.&nbsp;

There are five special points where a small mass can orbit in a constant pattern with two larger masses. Of these Lagrange points, three are unstable and two are stable.&nbsp;

The unstable points are labelled L1, L2 and L3 while the stable Lagrange points are L4 and L5.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/science/aditya-l1-indias-first-space-based-mission-to-study-sun-619929">Also read |&nbsp;Aditya L1: India's first space-based mission to study Sun</a>

The L1 point of the Earth-Sun system affords an uninterrupted view of the sun and is currently home to the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory Satellite or SOHO.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, L2 is ideal for astronomy because a spacecraft is close enough to communicate with Earth and can keep the sun, Earth and Moon behind the spacecraft and L3 remains behind the sun.&nbsp;

However, L4 and L5 are stable as long as the mass ratio between the two large masses exceeds 24.96. Objects orbiting at the L4 and L5 points are often called Trojans after the three large asteroids Agamemnon, Achilles and Hector that orbit at both points of the Jupiter-Sun system.

The post read, "The launch of Aditya-L1, the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun, is scheduled for September 2, 2023, at 11:50 Hrs. IST from Sriharikota." The post also shared live-streaming details for people interested. Somanath said, "After the launch, it will take 125 days from the Earth to reach Lagrange point 1 (L1). We have to wait till then." The Aditya L-1 mission aims to study the sun from an orbit around the L1 and will carry seven payloads to observe coronal heating, solar wind acceleration, coronal magnetometry, origin along with chromosphere, photosphere and the outermost layer. Watch | Aditya-L1 mission: All about the Lagrange point L1, the location of ISRO's spacecraft on Sun What is Lagrange Point? The Lagrange point, also known as L1, is positioned in space where the objects sent there are to stay. It was named in honour of Italian-French mathematician Josephy-Loius Lagrange. There are five special points where a small mass can orbit in a constant pattern with two larger masses. Of these Lagrange points, three are unstable and two are stable. The unstable points are labelled L1, L2 and L3 while the stable Lagrange points are L4 and L5. Also read | Aditya L1: India's first space-based mission to study Sun The L1 point of the Earth-Sun system affords an uninterrupted view of the sun and is currently home to the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory Satellite or SOHO. Meanwhile, L2 is ideal for astronomy because a spacecraft is close enough to communicate with Earth and can keep the sun, Earth and Moon behind the spacecraft and L3 remains behind the sun.
