Japan's infamous Joker assailant who attempted to kill and burn innocent people on a train in Tokyo has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.&nbsp;

Tokyo District Court's Tachikawa branch found 26-year-old Kyota Hattori guilty of attempted murder and starting a fire on the train, while dressed as DC comic book villain, the Joker.&nbsp;

The incident took place in October 2021, on the day of Halloween, at around 8 pm on a Keio Line train, heading to Shinjuku Station.&nbsp;Hattori boarded the train, dressed in a purple suit, green shirt and a tie, leading to him being called the Joker.

Afterwards, he stabbed a passenger in his 70s whilst trying to kill 12 others by starting a&nbsp;fire. While the stabbed man sustained&nbsp;a critical condition, he survived and nobody died in the attack.&nbsp;

During a hearing last month, Hattori admitted to the stabbing and lighting the&nbsp;train carriage on fire, but denied the latter part of the indictment, saying there was no intent to murder when he lit up the coach.&nbsp;

“I don’t know if the arson can be considered attempted murder,” Hattori said.

At the time of his arrest, Hattori told the police that he "adores" the Joker character from the Batman films. He wanted to kill multiple people and receive the death penalty.&nbsp;Police said he made the plan to “stab and burn passengers on a crowded Halloween day on an express train that people couldn’t flee". He also&nbsp;told them he had spread lighter fluid on the train.

“He held a knife and started spreading liquid. He was committing this act without showing any emotion, just mechanically. I think that brought fear to everyone," one of the witnesses in the carriage&nbsp;said at the time.&nbsp;

<h2>Violent crimes in Japan&nbsp;</h2>

Violent crime is rare in Japan but Hattori's attack came a little more than a month after nine people were wounded in a similar train attack where the suspect handed himself to the police after fleeing the scene.&nbsp;

Earlier this month, another gruesome crime was reported&nbsp;in the country's northern city of Sapporo where a headless body of a man was discovered in one of the 'love hotel' rooms.&nbsp;

Nargis was reportedly killed with an iron rod by Irfan inside a park in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Friday, police said.&nbsp;

Her father Suljat, who works as a motor mechanic, said she was her only daughter. He has two sons. "I want justice for her," he said. "The accused should get strict punishment. We will not forgive him for what he has done."

<h2>The accused has been arrested</h2>

DCP (South) Chandan Chowdhary said police received a PCR call regarding a murder at the Vijay Mandal Park near Aurobindo College and a woman was found lying on the ground. A chair, an iron rod and a bag were found next to her, police said. Police arrested the accused, identified as Irfan, 28, from his house in Sangam Vihar, around 7- 8 km from where the deceased, Nargis, lived with her family.

Irfan had been working as a delivery agent, police said. “He had written entrance tests to join the Indian Army last year, in which he had failed… he was also preparing for civil services exams,” said the officer.

Sources said Irfan had come on his scooter. He entered through a back entry gate, instead of the main entrance. “Prima facie from the wounds on the victim’s head and face, it seems he beat her up with the road at least three to four times,” said another officer.

<h2>Two different stories&nbsp;</h2>

Nargis' brother Sameer said, "Around six months ago, our family turned down the marriage proposal of the accused. My sister did not want to marry him."

According to police, Nargis and Irfan were in a relationship earlier and there were also talks about their marriage, but Nargis' family finally disapproved of it.

Nargis then stopped talking to Irfan, which made him even more agitated, police said.

Upon being informed, the authorities soon launched an investigation before the Hokkaido police made the breakthrough. The severed head was discovered in the house of the doctor, following which police also arrested Osamu's wife, on suspicion of collusion.&nbsp;

Anyone that thinks they're going to come down and drive down the street and stop and take photos is going to be issued a summons for stopping in traffic."&nbsp;

An extensive search was carried out for the twelfth day on Tuesday. It included areas such as Heuermann's home, and his backyard, which was dug up with an excavator by the authorities. According to the officials, the search into the serial killings will almost definitely conclude by the end of this week.

Suffolk County Police began a search operation to locate Shannan Gilbert in 2010 after the 24-year-old sex worker vanished from New Jersey.

While the search continued, the Missing Persons Bureau's Officer John Mallia along with his trained cadaver dog 'Blue' accidentally found the remains of four women in their 20s. The police drew the conclusion that the women found near Gilgo Beach, Long Island were sex workers who used to advertise their services on Craigslist.

One report from NBC suggested that the bodies had a gap of about 500 feet in between them. Later, the bodies were identified as Amber Costello, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and, Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

In another similar incident in 2015, a fifth woman's body, who was an escort, was discovered. AFP reports said that since 2010, at least 11 bodies, including three unidentified victims, have been found along the isolated stretch of the ocean beachfront on Long Island.

It is important to note that even though the police initially rejected that there was any link between the killings, they soon had a different opinion. Prosecutors concluded that the women are the victims of a serial killer, who would infamously come to be known as the Long Island Serial Killer, the Gilgo Beach Killer or the Craigslist Ripper.&nbsp;

Gilgo Beach serial killings: Walk-in vault with big iron door found inside Rex Heuermann’s home

David Hunter, the man who made headlines for killing his terminally ill wife in Cyprus, has been cleared of murder charges. However, on Friday (July 21st), the Cyprus court found Hunter guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter, which as per his daughter is "the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances."&nbsp;He will now be sentenced on 27 July.

The 75-year-old has repeatedly claimed that his wife had begged him to end her misery.

<h2>A mercy killing</h2>

74-year-old Janice Hunter, as per Sky News, died of asphyxiation at the couple's retirement home near Paphos in December 2021.&nbsp;

At the time, David admitted to killing her but denied it was a murder. He told the Cyprus court that Janice was suffering from blood cancer and had "begged him" to take her life, relieve her of the pain.&nbsp;

During the trial, while testifying, he reportedly broke down and said he would "never in a million years" have killed Janice unless she didn't ask him to.

"She wasn't just my wife, she was my best friend," he exclaimed.

<h2>'Best we could have hoped for'</h2>

Lesley Cawthorne, Janice and David's daughter told Sky News she was relieved that her father has been cleared of murder charges.

"It's the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances, and I really hope the judges can extend their compassion and be lenient in their sentencing."

In June 2022, she told BBC that her mother had been "in absolute agony" in her final months.

As per David, his wife had been begging him to relieve her of the pain&nbsp;for weeks.

"For five or six weeks before she died, she was asking me to help her. She was asking me more every day," he said.

The news outlet said that Rex Heuermann (59) has been arrested after a DNA match. Heuermann is reportedly married and an architect by profession. New York Post reported that cops swarmed his&nbsp;home on 1st Avenue in Massapequa Park.

Heurermann will reportedly be produced in court on Friday.

The 'Gilgo Four' case pertains to women found wrapped in furniture wraps within days of each other. The women were found in late 2010.

New York State and Suffolk County police have not officially confirm the arrest. But they have hinted at press conferences.

Heuermann, the suspect, is founder and owner of Midtown architecture firm RH Consultants and Associates. The website of the firm says that Catholic Charities, NYC-DEP Sewerage Treatment and American Airlines are among its clients.

Heuermann has in past, given interview to a YouTube channel Bonjour Reality and has reportedly said that he was born and brought up on Long Island.

“I’ve been working in Manhattan since 1987, very long time,” he said as quoted by New York Post.

Investigator arrived at Heuermann's run-down home on Friday and reportedly removed a cooler at one point.

“He seemed like a regular neighbour,” said Barry Auslander (72) as quoted by the news outlet

“I never thought he was anything but a businessman, average guy who had a family and went to work.”

<h2>The murders</h2>

Discovery of the body of Melissa Barthelemy (24) in December 2010 set off fears of a serial killer in the area. Remains of other three women were found in the following days.

Barthelemy along with Megan Waterman (22), Amber Lynn Costello (27) and Maureen Brainard-Barnes (25) were dubbed the so-called 'Gilgo Four'.

The women were found wrapped in burlap, a sort of a cloth used to wrap furniture, about one-tenth of a mile apart from each other on the beach.

By 2011, the number of those dead had gone up to 10. They included eight women as well as an unidentified man and a toddler.

The bodies were found when police were searching for missing Jersey City-based sex worker Shannan Gilbert. Her body was reportedly found in December 2011.

An attorney for Gilbert's family, John Ray, told News 12 that he had received "a very strong" tip last week that the authorities were going to close in on arrest of a suspect.

Leslie Van Houten, a follower of late mass murderer Charles Manson was released from prison on Tuesday (July 11) after spending 53 years behind bars. Houten was 19 when she was charged with two murders in 1969.

Houten has been recommended for parole five times since 2016. She was sentenced for&nbsp;being involved in the murders of Leno LaBianca, a grocer in Los Angeles, and his wife Rosemary.

Her attorney Nancy Tetreault confirmed the news and said her client&nbsp;will be under parole supervision.&nbsp;

Nancy told The Guardian, "She’s really thrilled, but she’s been in prison for 53 years and turns 74 next month so this is a huge change."

She added, "She’s gratified that people are recognising that she’s completely reformed because she really is. I’ve never had a client who has dedicated herself to reform like she has. She spent 40 years in therapy and 30 years in what they call rehabilitative programming."

Admitting that Leslie fell under the influence of Charles Manson and participated in the brutal murders, Nancy said that Leslie worked really hard to get past that cult and to understand and take responsibility for the future.&nbsp;

California Governor Gavin Newsom had said last week that he won't be asking the state's Supreme Court to block her parole.

Erin Mellon, communications director for the Office of the Governor, had said,&nbsp;"The Governor is disappointed by the Court of Appeal's decision to release Ms Van Houten but will not pursue further action as efforts to further appeal are unlikely to succeed. The California Supreme Court accepts appeals in very few cases, and generally does not select cases based on this type of fact-specific determination."

A representative from Newsom's office told the news outlet, "More than 50 years after the Manson cult committed these brutal offences, the victims’ families still feel the impact, as do all Californians."

Who is Leslie Van Houten?

Leslie Louise Van Houten was born on August 23, 1949.

At the age of 14, she began taking LSD and Benzedrine and using drugs after her parents got divorced.

In 1966, she moved to Northern California where she met Catherine Share, Bobby Beausoleil, and another woman, and moved in with them.

They all joined Manson's group, who&nbsp;controlled every aspect of their lives, from food to drugs.

On August 9, 1969, Van Houten, along with Tex Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel, Linda Kasabian, Clem Grogan, and Manson, went to Rosemary and LaBianca's house and killed the couple. Manson&nbsp;allegedly sent other people in the group to kill an actor.

When asked, Manson denied all responsibility and never explained the motive for the murder.

However, prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi suggested that Manson wanted to start a racial civil war.

Manson died behind bars in 2017 at the age of 83 after nearly 50 years in prison.

In the May decision, the judges took issue with Newsom's claim that Houten did not adequately explain how she fell under Manson's influence.

At her hearings, she explained how her parents' divorce, her drug and alcohol abuse, and a forced illegal abortion led her down a path that left her vulnerable.

They argued, "Van Houten has shown extraordinary rehabilitative efforts, insight, remorse, realistic parole plans, support from family and friends, favourable institutional reports, and, at the time of the governor's decision, had received four successive grants of parole."

Four men brutalised and beat a 45-year-old woman to death allegedly over a land dispute in the Khagaria district of the Indian state Bihar, said the police. 
 
The police have filed a case against the four accused men who have been absconding since the incident took place, said an official familiar with the matter on Sunday. 
 
The incident happened on Saturday evening when the woman was busy sowing paddy in her field located in Mehandipur village.&nbsp;Soon, four bike-borne men came towards her and attacked her.

“Four people on two bikes beat up the woman while she was working on the farm, gouged her eyes out with a knife, cut her tongue and mutilated her private parts. She died on the spot,” an eyewitness was quoted by a police officer as saying. 
 
The family members of the victim have accused five of their neighbours, who have been identified as Mahendra Singh, Rulo Singh, Rajdev Singh, Fulungi Singh and Shyam Kumar Singh. 
 
“The victim’s family is embroiled in a long-standing dispute over a portion of a five-bigha land with five of their neighbours. Nine years ago, the victim’s husband and brother-in-law were killed over the same dispute. The dispute is subjudice, and the accused are currently out on bail,” added the officer added. 
 
“The nature of the murder indicates that the killers had deep-rooted hatred against the woman,” said station house officer (SHO) Amlesh Kumar.

<h2>FIR lodged against five accused</h2>

Meanwhile, sub-divisional police officer Manoj Kumar, who reached Mehandipur village soon after the horrific incident took place, said,&nbsp;“Police have lodged an FIR against all five accused under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 302 (for murder). A search operation has been launched to nab the accused who have been absconding since the incident took place on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, protests were held by the local residents in the village after the killing as they blocked National Highway 31 and refused&nbsp;to cremate the body of the woman till the police nab all the accused. However, the villagers later agreed to withdraw their agitation after police officials assured them of stringent action against the culprits.&nbsp;

The 32-year-old suspect, identified as Alvaro, allegedly killed his wife while under the influence of a prohibited substance.

The horrific incident occurred on June 29, and Alvaro was apprehended at their home in Puebla on July 2. Authorities claim that he committed the crime under the orders of Santa Muerte (Our Lady of Holy Death) and the devil.

According to reports, Alvaro confessed to murdering his wife, Maria Montserrat Animas Montiel, before dismembering her body and placing the remains in plastic bags.

Some of the body parts were allegedly thrown into a nearby ravine, while others were kept inside their home. Shockingly, Alvaro admitted to consuming parts of his wife's brain in tacos and using her shattered skull as an ashtray.

The victim's mother, Maria Alicia Montiel Serran, revealed that Alvaro subjected her daughter and the youngest two stepdaughters to violence and sexual harassment.

She described instances of voyeurism while they showered and lamented that her daughter often sided with Alvaro despite the abusive behaviour.

The family claims that Alvaro, a builder, struggled with substance abuse and displayed frequent violent tendencies towards his wife.

Maria Alicia mentioned Alvaro's drug use, including cocaine, and expressed concerns about his mental state. She disclosed that her daughter had a tattoo of Santa Muerte, suggesting Alvaro's fascination with the occult.

The victim's family is still awaiting the opportunity to lay Maria Montserrat to rest as authorities continue their search for some of her remains. These remaining body parts need to undergo DNA testing for identification.

Jasmeen Kaur, the 21-year-old nursing student, was kidnapped from her workplace in Adelaide and was killed by Tarikjot Singh in March 2021. She was murdered one month after reporting Singh to the police for stalking.

9news reported that Singh buried her alive in a shallow grave more than 400 kilometres from her workplace.

Singh initially denied committing the crime, alleging that Kaur had killed herself and that he had buried her body.

However, later he pleaded guilty after incriminating pieces of evidence were found. He was due to stand trial earlier this year.

Officials had found a CCTV footage which caught him hours before the murder in Mile End buying gloves, cable ties and a shovel.

<h2>How did the murder take place?</h2>

According to police, Singh had made “superficial” cuts to Jasmeen’s throat and buried her in a shallow grave.

Kaur was not dead at the time when she was buried on March 6 and was aware of her surroundings as the injuries to her neck were not enough to kill her.

The enforcement authorities found her blindfolded, limbs bound with cable ties and gaffer tape in a shallow grave in the Flinders Ranges.

<h2>'Uncommon level of cruelty'</h2>

On Thursday, prosecutors argued that the murder was an act of revenge and the nature and level of violence involved an "uncommon level of cruelty".

"She had to have been consciously suffering what could only be described as the absolute terror of breathing in and swallowing soil and dying in that way," prosecutor Carmen Matteo said, according to 9news.

The woman’s family, including her mother, were in court when the submissions for his sentencing were made.

<h2>Unable to get over breakup</h2>

During the hearing, the court was told that Singh wanted to kill Kaur because was unable to get over the breakdown of their relationship.

Singh was told in court that he will be jailed for life with a non-parole period that the court will impose starting next month.

In the execution carried out in Farah in December, the father of the murder victim was the one who was asked to pull the trigger on&nbsp;his son's killer.

"For such crimes it is good that people should see and always have the fear before doing such inhuman acts," Tuesday's witness told AFP.

"There was a lot of fear. It was very emotional. We are not used to such things," the witness added.

The Supreme Court of Afghanistan has stated that all possible appeal options in Ajmal's case have been exhausted. As a result, the Supreme Leader has made the final decision to proceed with the execution.

<h2>What we know about the incident and the victims</h2>

The incident took place on Wednesday (June 14) afternoon near one of Germany’s most popular tourist sights, Neuschwanstein Castle’s Marienbruecke, which is a bridge over a gorge close to the castle. According to the German police, one American tourist, later identified as 21-year-old Eva Liu, was allegedly attacked by a 30-year-old American man she had met while hiking.&nbsp;

Liu, who had recently received her bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, was allegedly sexually assaulted before being pushed off a steep slope near the castle. In a previous statement, the police had said the 30-year-old man met the two female tourists on a hiking path, he then went on to lure them onto a hidden trail that leads to a viewpoint.

He then “physically attacked” the 21-year-old.&nbsp;This prompted her friend, later identified as 22-year-old&nbsp;Kelsey Chang, to intervene and he choked her and pushed her down a steep slope. After the incident, both women were taken to a hospital by helicopter where Liu succumbed to what is being described as serious injuries. As per the initial investigation police also found that Liu fell some 50 metres while a tree reportedly broke Chang’s fall.&nbsp;

<h2>What do we know about the suspect?</h2>

So far, the officials in Germany have not revealed the identity of the alleged attacker except that he is 30 years old and also an American tourist. He was arrested shortly after the incident after fleeing from the scene after the crime.&nbsp;

The 30-year-old man, as per police, is currently in jail after a judge in nearby Kempten issued an arrest warrant last week and ordered them to keep him in custody pending a potential indictment. He is currently jailed on charges of murder and attempted murder while he was also initially accused of&nbsp;attempted sexual offence.&nbsp;

<h2>University of Illinois on the incident</h2>

Robin Kaler, associate chancellor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, released a statement to the American media which said, “Our University of Illinois family is mourning the senseless death of Ms. Liu and the attack on Ms. Chang.”&nbsp;

The recent graduates had decided to take a vacation to Germany as a reward for completing their undergraduate college work, as per media reports, when they crossed paths with the 30-year-old man, whom they did not know before. “Both had just graduated in May and should have been able to celebrate such an important accomplishment without the fear of such a tragic outcome,” said Kaler.&nbsp;

What we know about the incident and the victims The incident took place on Wednesday (June 14) afternoon near one of Germany’s most popular tourist sights, Neuschwanstein Castle’s Marienbruecke, which is a bridge over a gorge close to the castle. According to the German police, one American tourist, later identified as 21-year-old Eva Liu, was allegedly attacked by a 30-year-old American man she had met while hiking. Liu, who had recently received her bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, was allegedly sexually assaulted before being pushed off a steep slope near the castle. In a previous statement, the police had said the 30-year-old man met the two female tourists on a hiking path, he then went on to lure them onto a hidden trail that leads to a viewpoint. As per the initial investigation police also found that Liu fell some 50 metres while a tree reportedly broke Chang’s fall. What do we know about the suspect? So far, the officials in Germany have not revealed the identity of the alleged attacker except that he is 30 years old and also an American tourist. He was arrested shortly after the incident after fleeing from the scene after the crime. “Taking matters into her own hands, Senali Sen administered approximately 20 sleeping tablets to her mother on Monday morning. After Biva Pal complained of stomach pain resulting from the ingestion of the pills, she was then strangled to death by her own daughter,” stated a senior official.

<h2>What do we know about the incident?</h2>

The family was said to be in the garden of their home in the village of Saint-Herbot near Quimper in Brittany when their Dutch neighbour appeared with a firearm and allegedly shot at them multiple times, said the local prosecutor. The officials have also said that the neighbours had been embroiled in a year-long dispute over a plot of land.&nbsp;

Quimper public prosecutor Carine Halley, in a statement on Sunday, said that the incident took place at around 10:00 pm (local time) and the police intervened sometime after the shooting. According to the magistrate, the 11-year-old girl was found dead at the scene while her father had sustained life-threatening injuries.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Halley said that the mother’s life was not in danger while the couple’s second child did not sustain any injuries but was “in a state of shock”.&nbsp;The victims were&nbsp;later identified as Solaine Thornton (11) and her father&nbsp;Adrian&nbsp;Thornton.&nbsp;Meanwhile, Britain’s Foreign Office said it was providing consular assistance to a British family following a shooting.

<h2>Dutch national charged with murder</h2>

The statement by the local prosecutor also said that “Initial evidence suggests the victims’ neighbour, a 71-year-old Dutch pensioner, suddenly appeared armed with a firearm and fired several shots in the direction of the victims...before retreating to his home with his wife.”&nbsp; 
 
According to&nbsp;Miansoni, during a search of the&nbsp;Dutch couple's property, the officials also found&nbsp;two rifles, one of which had not been previously declared. The&nbsp;prosecutors also said that both Dutch nationals tested positive for alcohol and cannabis. The duo&nbsp;has&nbsp;no previous convictions.

It has been reported that the shooter only identified as a 71-year-old Dutch pensioner and his wife have surrendered to authorities and been arrested.&nbsp;

A police source told AFP that the neighbour had fired his rifle through a hedge before retreating to his home with his wife. While the motive was not immediately clear and police were still trying to determine the reason, “it would appear that there had been a dispute between the two neighbours for several years over a plot of land adjoining the two properties,” said Halley.&nbsp;

“There were neighbourhood issues, yes, a hedge, a field, but nothing more than that, not that we were aware of,” Regine Guillot, secretary of the nearest town hall in Plonevez-du-Faou told Reuters.&nbsp;

He added, “The village is in shock.” The town official also told the news agency that the British family had lived in the hamlet for five years while the alleged shooter was a private man. Additionally, given the gravity of the case, it was handed to the public prosecutor in Brest.&nbsp;

The incident also comes days after France was left shocked after four preschool children were stabbed mercilessly by a Syrian refugee knifeman in the French town of Annecy, last week. 
 
On Thursday, around 9:45 am (local time), the suspect, wearing a blue-chequered headscarf and sunglasses, armed with a 10-centimetre-long knife, attacked a group of children.

Some even aged around three years old. One of the horrifying videos shows the suspect coming close to a baby in a pram and stabbing the little one multiple times.

11-year-old British girl shot dead, father critically injured in French village; suspect charged with murder

A 31-year-old man was caught in Nottingham City, England, on Tuesday morning on the suspicion of murdering three people and using his van to run over more at another site.

Police reached Ilkeston Road around 4 am (local time) after they were informed that two people were lying dead in the street. Their identity is yet to be revealed.

Shortly after, the police were called to a few distances away on Milton Street after another incident was reported that a van had attempted to mow over three people, the Independent reported.

The people who were run over by the truck have been admitted to the hospital and are being treated for their injuries. The details about their condition have not been revealed as of yet.

Another man was found dead a few blocks away on Magdala Road but no cause of death was given for the third victim.

<h2>All incidents are linked</h2>

In a statement, Chief Constable Kate Meynell said that there are strong indications that these three “horrific and tragic” incidents are “all linked”.

“This is a horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people. We believe these three incidents are all linked and we have a man in custody,” said Chief Constable Kate Meynell in a statement following the incident.

Police have not revealed the identity of the suspect, and added that they are still in the early stages of investigation.

“This investigation is at its early stages and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened,” she said.

“We ask the public to be patient while inquiries continue. At this time, a number of roads in the city will remain closed as this investigation progresses.”

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed shock over the incident and sent his condolences to the families of the deceased.

"At half past five I saw a van pull up at the side of me. It was white, all white. There was a police car behind it coming up slowly, no flashing lights. The man in the driver's seat looked in his mirror and saw the police car behind him," Lynn said.

She said the van then drove up to "the corner of the street and went into two people". "The lady ended up on the curb, and then he backed up the white van and he went, speeded up Parliament Street with the police cars following him," she added.

The police have closed a number of roads in Nottingham in the wake of the incident. They are: Ilkeston Road,&nbsp;Milton Street,&nbsp;Magdala Road,&nbsp;Maples Street,&nbsp;Woodborough Road (from the junction of Magdala Road into the city),&nbsp;Maid Marian Way at the junction of Parliament Street, BBC reported.

The 56-year-old man allegedly dismembered the woman's body in Mumbai's Mira Road area and further boiled the body parts in a pressure cooker for disposal.

Manoj Sane had been in a relationship with Saraswati Vaidya, 32, since 2014. They were staying at a rented apartment in Geeta Nagar Phase 7 for the past three years.&nbsp;

Sane told Mumbai police that he was diagnosed with HIV in the year 2008 and has since then been on medication. He said that he had met with an accident and suspects to have contracted HIV during that treatment.

<h2>The couple was married, says police</h2>

The police on Friday said that the three sisters of the deceased woman informed police that Manoj Sane and Saraswati Vaidya were not live-in partners but husband and wife.

The marriage was hidden from the world because of their age difference.

"During the investigation, we found out that the victim and accused were married and they had informed the victim's sisters also, they hid this from the others because of their age difference.", said DCP Jayant Bajbale.

In a new twist to the murder case, police on Friday said that Manoj Sane made a claim saying that Vaidya had died of suicide.

Police further added that Sane, during the interrogation, also claimed that he tried to dispose of&nbsp;the body fearing that he might be held responsible for her death.

He allegedly used a tree-cutter to chop off the woman's body into 20 pieces, boiled the body parts in a pressure cooker and put them in plastic bags to dispose&nbsp;them of by feeding them to dogs and other animals. Police said that over 12 to 13 pieces of the woman's body were recovered from the site.

The lawyer was seeking sedition proceedings against Imran Khan. The lawyer was gunned down on the way to court by two gunmen who came on a motorbike.

Khan says he is facing nearly 150 cases and denies guilt in all of them.

California justice officials teamed up with a private lab called Othram. They used the emerging investigative techniques of forensic genealogy to build a family tree for 'Jane Doe'.

Their investigation led them to a potential close relative of the unnamed victim. The person confirmed that a female member of the family named Kerry Ann Cummings had been missing since the mid-1990s.

<h2>Who was Kerry Ann Cummings?</h2>

According to The Daily Beast, Cummings was mentally ill and left her home to couch-serve in Eugene, Oregon in 1997. She was 25.

Reportedly, the family lost touch with her and tried to report her missing. They even hired a private detective to investigate the missing woman.

As per a statement released by the sheriff's office on Wednesday: "Unfortunately, back then they were told that Kerry was an adult, that she had chosen the lifestyle, and that if she wasn’t a threat to herself or others, there was nothing that [law enforcement] could do."

After the alleged&nbsp;murder, Sahil went into hiding in Bulandshahar. According to the authorities, his phone had been switched off, but the accused subsequently called his father, revealing his whereabouts. He was then put under technical surveillance.&nbsp;

“After the incident, the accused Sahil switched off his mobile phone and fled to his aunt’s house in Bulandshahr by bus. During an interrogation&nbsp;by the police, Sahil allegedly stated that the girl wanted to break up with him, which upset him. She had threatened to call the police if he did not keep his distance.

Sahil told the police that he thought she had contact with an ex-boyfriend. According to police sources who spoke to NDTV,&nbsp;he was enraged that the girl was ignoring him and had no remorse.

He allegedly plotted the murder and got the knife used to murder the girl 20 days prior in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

The murdered girl's&nbsp;family has demanded the harshest punishment for the accused.&nbsp;

In India's capital, New Delhi, another senseless murder has left people stunned. A 36-year-old woman has been arrested for the alleged murder of her 35-year-old flatmate early Tuesday morning. The latest case comes just a day after the gruesome murder of a 16-year-old girl by her boyfriend shook the city.

The victim of the latest crime has&nbsp;been identified as Rani, who used to work as a beautician at a Gurgaon-based beauty parlour. As per a report by news agency ANI, Rani was found lying in a pool of&nbsp;blood after being stabbed by her flatmate. The accused was found sitting near the body.

A case has been filed against the accused under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Police are yet to recover the murder weapon — a kitchen knife.

Police were informed of the crime at around 7 am. The incident, as per ANI, took place in Majnu Ka Tila, in north Delhi's Civil Lines Area.&nbsp;

The two women were renting a flat together in Majnu ka Tila, a popular tourist spot in North Delhi.

On Monday night, the victim and the accused, along with a group of friends, had a dinner party at a mutual friend, Neha's house. At the party, which went on till around 1 am, alcohol was consumed and the murder happened under the influence.

Reportedly, during the house party, Sapna and Rani, who were both drunk, got into a fight.&nbsp;

Following the party, they both returned to their shared flat, where they kept drinking. Once there, the fight was reignited and things got heated up and the disagreement turned into a scuffle, during which Sapna stabbed Rani in the chest using a kitchen knife.

Reportedly, Rani abusing Sapna's dead father was the trigger for the assault and the murder.

Upon reaching the spot, police found Sapna sitting next to Rani's body, which was lying in a pool of blood. Sapna, as per the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi, has confessed to the crime. A postmortem of Rani's body will be done, following which it'll be handed to her loved ones.

"Teams of FSL and crime have inspected the spot. We have registered a case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Based on the investigation, the accused Sapna was arrested after she confessed to her crime. Efforts are being taken to recover the weapon of offence," said Kalsi.

The two met outside Dining Hall 2 around 1 pm local time. Both&nbsp;girls’ and boys’ hostels are located on either side of the hall. In the CCTV footage, the students were seen on the other side of the frosted glass having a conversation during which he gave her a hug and then fires at her twice, appearing to hide his gun in his bag. As she collapses on the ground he stands over her for a few seconds, leans once to check and then walks away.&nbsp;

However, there are reports stating that&nbsp;the boy was giving her something, presumably a gift, and she could be seen refusing the parcel following which he shot her.&nbsp;

The police officials received a call from university students at 1:30 pm. After reaching the spot, the officials found Sneha covered in a pool of blood. She died of the two bullet injuries in her stomach and chest while Anuj shot himself in the head.&nbsp;

Dr Sunil Balyan, the medical superintendent at the Yatharth hospital where Sneha was brought to the emergency room said, "Our teams checked her and she was pronounced brought dead. Thereafter, we informed the police and handed over the body for postmortem."

What led to this tragic incident?

As per investigators, the two&nbsp;have been in a relationship for a year and a half&nbsp;but broke up in December 2022. This&nbsp;left Anuj shattered as she started seeing someone else. In the video recorded and uploaded on Google Drive, Anuj towards the end said he is in the third stage of brain cancer and does not have much longer to live. In the mail he sent, he&nbsp;made a request to "not create any problems" for his and Sneha's parents and signed off by requesting forgiveness.&nbsp;

Police official Sarthak Sengar said&nbsp;that the officials are still investigating where Anuj got the pistol from.&nbsp;

Students alarmed over security leniency

Students told police officials that security personnel check bags and hostel rooms every day but no one knows how this tragedy happened.&nbsp;

A fourth-year student told Times of India newspaper that he heard gunshots from his hotel room.

He said, "The first time it came from near the canteen. Within a few minutes, I heard another shot, which was in the next building. The girl was in a bad condition when the guards found her. They called the ambulance and police."

While a PhD student at the university said that currently all undergraduate students are on a semester break and only master's and PhD students are in campus. However, some undergraduates stayed back with special permission from the professors.&nbsp;

It wasn't immediately clear if Sneha too was staying back or was about to leave in a day or two. Sneha's family is based in Kanpur and Anuj's in Amroha.
