<p>When she unwrapped the tarp, she found Corrado's grandmother with her head inside a plastic bag, as per the police report. She tried to remove the bag from her head, but Corrado stopped her saying “she would get blood everywhere”.<br />

Then, Corrado asked the house help to help in getting rid of his grandmother’s body before his grandfather, who had gone to the grocery store, reaches home. He also asked her to disable the security cameras.<br />
<br />
However, the housekeeper insisted on dialling 911, but Corrado who already had a long rap sheet, asked her not to call the police because he didn’t want to get imprisoned again, said the arrest affidavit.<br />

The housekeeper, who was “frightened”, told Corrado that she needs&nbsp;to get cleaning supplies from her car and left the house to get help from someone.<br />

The woman flagged the situation to a Collier County deputy, who was sitting in his patrol vehicle a short distance from the house.<br />

Then, the deputies reached the house and found Corrado, who was still in blood-spattered clothes, standing in the driveway near a car with its trunk open.</p>

According to Lori’s friends and family, her demeanour changed in 2017, after she began reading books by Chad Daybell, a religious author whose novels&nbsp;focused on the apocalypse and were loosely based on Mormon religious teachings, reported BBC.</p>

<p>In January 2019, Charles reportedly went to the police and said that his wife had become “unhinged” and thought she was a god preparing for the end of days. He also said that she threatened to murder him. Eventually, he filed for a divorce and as per court documents said he feared for his and the children’s safety.</p>

<p>In 2018, Lori and Chad had begun recording a religious podcast together. The duo also deemed people either “light” or “dark” spirits and called those who had been taken over by evil spirits “zombies”. The couple used to lead a group of people that met to pray and used to preach that the only way to free a body of the evil spirit was to embrace death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The case began in 2019, when Vallow Daybell’s then-husband, Charles, was shot and killed by her brother, Alex Cox. A report by BBC, citing police records, said that Charles went to pick up his son from a house where his estranged wife was living with her brother when Cox shot him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Cox then told police he acted in self-defence and was not charged and died later that year of what authorities determined were natural causes. According to prosecutors, Vallow Daybell was already in a relationship with Chad Daybell, who was still married to his wife, Tammy Daybell, at the time. So she eventually moved to Idaho with her kids and brother to be closer to him.</p>

<p><strong>The bizarre revelations</strong></p>

<p>Police records showed a friend told the authorities&nbsp;that Vallow Daybell called both children “zombies” prior to their disappearance. The two children were last seen alive in September 2019 before the police discovered they were missing a month after their extended family raised concerns.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Vallow Daybell’s former friend Melanie Gibb testified that Vallow Daybell believed people in her life had been taken over by evil spirits and turned into “zombies”. According to the testimony, at least four other people who had been described as “zombies” by the defendant, were later killed or shot at.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Investigators found that the couple used to call the children and Chad’s former wife “zombies”. Fremont County Prosecutor Lindsey Blake, last month, told the jurors that the children were missing for months before their remains were found buried in Chad Daybell’s yard.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prosecutors produced 60 witnesses over the course of the trial and detailed the evidence of how the children were killed and their remains were found. Notably, the defence attorney&nbsp;did not call any witnesses during the trial, and Vallow Daybell declined to testify.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Among the testimonies was also of Vallow Daybell’s only surviving child, Colby Ryan, who accused her of murdering his siblings in a recorded jailhouse phone call.</p>

<p>Tylee’s DNA was found on a pickaxe and shovel in a shed on the property, said Blake. JJ’s body was wrapped in trash bags and duct tape which was binding his arms in front of him and wrapping around his head, reported the Associated Press.<br />

<strong>What happened in the court?</strong></p>

<p>A jury of seven men and five women after hours of deliberation reached a unanimous guilty verdict on Friday afternoon. As the verdict was read, Vallow Daybell showed no expression. This comes as she has previously pleaded not guilty and is now facing life in prison when sentenced.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Judge Steven Boyce said sentencing will occur in about three months. The final arguments of the case were heard by the jurors on Thursday. The prosecutors said that the “defendant used money, power and sex to get what she wanted. It didn’t matter what it was.”</p>

<p>On the other hand, Defence Attorney Jim Archibald described Vallow Daybell as a “kind and loving mother to her children,” and it was after she met Chad Daybell, and fell for the “weird” apocalyptic religious claims of a cult leader.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also went on to suggest that Daybell and Cox were the ones responsible for the deaths and her only crime was lying to the police about where her children were. According to Archibald, Daybell told her they had been married in several previous lives and she was a “sexual goddess” who was supposed to help him save the world by gathering 144,000 followers so Jesus could return.</p>

<p>JJ’s grandparents, Larry and Kay Woodcock spoke to the press outside the courtroom following the verdict and said, “JJ, I love you.” He added, “It started with two children. I said, ‘Where are the children? Where are the children?...Give me back my children,” as quoted by the AP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Blake, in a statement, said they were “very pleased” with the verdict adding, “We want to assure each of you that we remain committed to pursuing justice for Tylee Ryan, JJ Vallow and Tammy Daybell.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>How the case unfolded?</strong></h2>

<p>The police were informed about the suspected murder by the deceased's son Surjit Som (51). Upon investigation, it was revealed that the husband and wife used to live in a flat right opposite the deceased woman's one-bedroom flat.</p>

<p>According to police, she earlier used to live with them and their 16-year-old daughter.&nbsp;However, the wife wanted her to be shifted to an old-age home as she needed a lot of care and attention. While the son, who works with an advertising agency, wanted to live close to his mother, he decided to shift her to the nearby flat to look after her, police said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He had also installed a CCTV camera inside the room to keep watch over his mother, who suffered from arthritis and faced mobility issues.</p>

<p>Probe found that Sarmishta, a homemaker, would often quarrel with her husband to send his mother back to Kolkata, where the family hailed from, police said.</p>

<p>"The family belongs to Kolkata. Harshi lived in Kolkata until March 2022 when her son brought her to Delhi to take care of her. Surjit housed his mother in a rented one-bedroom apartment right in front of his flat," the police official told Hindustan Times. "Surjit told us that his mother suffered from arthritis. Last October, he told us, his mother fell in the washroom of his flat due to the build of the house, due to which he moved her to a nearby flat where the washroom and kitchen were easily accessible to her."</p>

<p>The son reportedly used to keep a watch on her mother's movements through the camera feed.</p>

<p>The son further told the police that on the day of his mother’s death, the camera was not working due to a power failure. But later, the police managed to access the CCTV footage.</p>

<p>"The footage showed the accused entering the deceased’s flat at around 10:30 am on March 28. She was carrying a pressure cooker and went behind her mother-in-law to the kitchen, which was not captured by the CCTV. Thereafter, the sounds of the victim’s screams could be heard in the audio of the footage. Later, the woman was seen on CCTV cleaning the pressure cooker with a cloth," the police official told Hindustan Times.</p>

<p>The police also found that "injuries caused to the victim were not possible under normal circumstances", according to Hindustan Times.</p>

<p>On Monday, the final autopsy report arrived, which revealed that the deceased had sustained 14 injuries. Later, as it was revealed that the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law did not share a cordial relationship, police began interrogating the accused.</p>

<p>Following this, the police lodged a murder case against Sharmishta at the Neb Sarai police station.</p>

<p>According to the DCP, while the actual crime was not caught on camera as it took place in the kitchen, there was enough evidence even in the footage to implicate Sharmishta, who was subsequently arrested the next day.</p>

Harshi lived in Kolkata until March 2022 when her son brought her to Delhi to take care of her. The 47-year-old Viktoria Nasyrova from New York City attempted to murder her beautician with a slice of poisoned cheesecake. This incident occurred in August 2016, before which Nasyrova also stole the passport and work permit of the beautician, Olga Tsvyk.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nasyrova, of Brooklyn, was sentenced on Wednesday for the 2016 attempted murder and other counts, the Queens district attorney’s office said. A prosecutor called her a “ruthless and calculating con artist”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nasyrova "is going to prison for a long time for trying to murder her way to personal profit and gain", added Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz in a statement on Wednesday.</p>

<p><strong>Bizarre cheesecake-murder plot&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>On the day of the attempted murder, Nasyrova went to Tsvyk’s house in Queens with a box of cheesecake, eating two pieces herself, and offering the third, which was the poisoned one to the victim. <p>The chemical was determined to be phenazepam, which is a benzodiazepine developed by the Soviet Union, according to the district attorney’s office.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The victim survived this horrible incident but her Ukrainian passport and around $4000 in cash were stolen. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Nasyrova and the victim physically resembled each other, with the same complexion and dark hair, the reason why Nasyrova tried to kill her, was so she could steal her identity.&nbsp;</p>

The authorities are now looking to comb through 3,000 tonnes of garbage at the Swanbank Renewable Energy and Waste Management Facility, west of Brisbane, to look for the body of 78-year-old Lesley Trotter.</p>

<p>Multiple police units were collaborating with Australian Defence Force to sift through the garbage which will be exhumed from the ground.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"There is sum of 3,000 tonne of general waste we have to sort through. The waste will be exhumed from the ground, tipped into lanes approximately 30 centimetres deep, and police and ADF personnel will sift through by hand and using rakes...in an attempted to find Ms Trotter's body," Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham informed the media.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The search operation is expected to take some time as the crew will be able to search through 200 tonnes of garbage per day only.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We've been able to use certain technologies to pinpoint an area that we believe is most likely to yield Ms Trotter's body," added Massingham.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Trotter was last seen by her family on March 27 as the police initially treated her disappearance as a missing persons case. However, the agencies later received a tip, informing them Trotter's body was dumped in a wheelie bin and taken out by the garbage trucks as part of a weekly collection.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Ongoing investigations can reveal that on the morning of Tuesday, the 28th of March this year, the body of a female we believe was Lesley Trotter was located in a general waste wheelie bin,” the police said in a statement at the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It was evident she was deceased. Due to the positioning of the body, we can’t rule out foul play. Later that morning that bin was collected by a rubbish truck.”</p>

<p>A 12-year-old boy has been charged with murder of a 60-year-old social worker in Sheffield. The Guardian reported that the boy ran Marcia Grant over with his car. The name of the boy is being withheld but he has reportedly become one of the youngest children to be tried for murder in last 30 years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Marcia Grant was fatally struck outside her house on Wednesday (April 5). Her family paid tribute to her saying that she was “pillar of her community”</p>

<p>People from the local community left flowers at her house as police made door-to-door enquiries. Grant was described as a "beautiful soul" in the tributes.</p>

<p>Grant's family sent a tribute message through South Yorkshire police.</p>

<p>“Marcia was a warm, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and a pillar of her community. Her loss has already sent shock waves through all who knew her or was lucky enough to be included in her orbit.”</p>

<p>“We ask for privacy at this time while further investigations are under way and the family try to come to terms with this enormous loss.”</p>

<p>“This is devastating, I went to school with Marcia and she was the most kindest loveliest person you could meet. Condolences to all the family, stay strong, my thoughts are with you at this very sad time,” said Linda Channer as quoted by The Guardian.</p>

<p>In a press release, Louisiana State Police (LSP) said that Inga Johansen Carriere, 50, of Avondale and Andrew K. Carriere II, 50 were arrested and were facing charges of murder of the baby. The department noted that investigators were able to link the crime to the couple due to the latest DNA technology, something that was not available in 1992.</p>

<p>"This breakthrough in the case is a testament to the advancements in forensic technology and the dedication of law enforcement agencies to bring justice to victims and their families," said the Louisiana State Police.</p>

<p>For almost 45 years, US authorities remained unaware of the name or life of the woman they found shot dead on the left side of a logging road in Massachusetts.</p>

<p>But now, advanced genetic testing has helped them solve the mystery. They recently found out that the victim was Patricia Ann Tucker, who was aged 28 and was a mother to a five-year-old son when she was murdered, without her family having any knowledge of the tragedy for decades.</p>

<p>The office of the district attorney in Massachusetts announced that the investigators had found out that the murder victim was Tucker, who was known to many as the “Granby girl”, a nickname given to her based on the area where her dead body was found.</p>

<p>Soon after, Alex hired someone to shoot him, hoping that his surviving son Buster will be able to claim his life insurance money.</p>

<p>Randy had stopped speaking to Alex, who faces the charge of stealing more than $8 million from the family business.</p>

<p>Randy Murdaugh said that the family had to deal with uncertainty, considering the crime's gruesome nature and the understanding of Alex that they had.</p>

<p>Though the nature of the dispute wasn’t revealed by the ministry, local media reports stated that Ali fled her home in 2017 to start a new life in Turkey and had planned to wed her Syria-born boyfriend.</p>

<p>When she returned to Iraq to support her country's football team in the Arabian Gulf Cup in January, her family kidnapped her.</p>

<p>It was reported that she was drugged after she arrived in Iraq and taken back to the family home in Al-Qadisiyyah Governorate.</p>
