A 23-year-old Indian student was arrested on charges of allegedly killing his grandparents and uncle inside a condominium in New Jersey, said police and US media reports.&nbsp;

The student, identified as Om Brahmbhatt, was accused of shooting Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt (72), Bindu Brahmbhatt (72), and Yashkumar Brahmbhatt (38), said the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office and the South Plainfield Police Department in a statement.&nbsp;

The police officers reached the home located on Coppola Drive off New Durham Road in South Plainfield around 9 am local time on Monday (Nov 27) after a neighbour called them and complained about hearing shots fired at the Traditions condo complex, said the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, in a press release.

After reaching the site, the police officers discovered three people - two men and a woman - with gunshot wounds.

The police found married couple Dilipkumar and Bindu Brahmbhatt shot to death in the apartment's second floor. Their son Yashkumar Brahmbhatt was discovered with many gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

The student Om was taken into custody and questioned regarding the incident and later charged with three counts of first-degree murder as well as second-degree weapon possession.&nbsp;

The victim’s head was moving, suggesting he was still alive. However, the suspect kept on stabbing him relentlessly and later dragged his body out of the way by pulling his hair.&nbsp;

Local residents later took the boy to GTB Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Victim Prathima KS, a 45-year-old Karnataka government officer, was found murdered inside her home by her brother on November 5. She was working as a geologist with Karnataka’s mines and geology department.

The police claimed that she was strangulated, and then her throat was slit. They also did not find any valuables being stolen from her home.

<h2>Kiran was sacked 10 days ago&nbsp;</h2>

“There was no forced entry to the house and no valuables have been missing. Someone known to her has entered the house and killed her,” a senior police officer was quoted as saying by&nbsp;The Indian Express.

She was living in an independent house. An initial probe revealed that she had returned home from work on Saturday evening.

At that time, Kiran arrived at Prathima’s residence to urge her to hire him back. But his pleas had no effect, following which he murdered the 45-year-old woman.

Kiran then fled to Chamarajanagar, which is around 200 km from Bengaluru, NDTV reported.

<h2>Kiran was having financial troubles&nbsp;</h2>

An officer&nbsp;close to the investigation told News18 that the driver had financial troubles, his wife was pregnant, and he was desperate to get his job back.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand told India Today, "One suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the Pratima murder case. The operation was led by DCP South (Bengaluru) and the accused was detained near the Male Mahadeshwara Hills. He (the accused) was working as a driver and he was removed from work probably 7 to 10 days back."

According to information from police sources cited by media reports, the suspect had met the woman in Switzerland, and they had been in contact for approximately 8 to 10 days.

Once a foul odour emanated from the vehicle, he discarded the victim's body on the roadside and fled the scene.

“Accused Gurpreet arrested in the case had met the woman in Switzerland. He tied the hands and legs of the foreigner woman and murdered her. The accused bought an old car and after murdering her put the body in the same car. After foul smell started coming from the car, he dumped the body on the roadside and escaped,” sources reportedly said.

<h2>Cash recovery</h2>

In addition to the arrest, a substantial sum of nearly $240k was also seized from the accused.

The DCP explained that a call was received by the Tilak Nagar police station between 8:45 am and 9 am, prompting specialised teams to respond.

The situation initially appeared to be a murder case, and a formal case was registered under sections 302 and 201.&nbsp;

The bodies of the victims were found in their suburban Chicago home around 8:40 pm (local time) by officers who were sent by concerned relatives to conduct a well-being check, the Romeoville Police Department Deputy Chief Chris Burne told reporters, on Monday (Sep 18).&nbsp;

He added that the officials believe the victims were shot sometime between Saturday night and early Sunday. Burne also said that the deaths are being investigated as murders but since they took place more than 18 hours ago, officials do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

The well-being check was conducted after relatives notified the police department that one of the victims did not show up for work Sunday morning, said the deputy chief.&nbsp;

“A member of the family did not show up for work at 6 am on the morning of Sunday, September 17 and did not respond to phone calls throughout the day, resulting in family members becoming concerned,” Burne explained.&nbsp;

The police said that the investigation remains in its early stages but believe that the family was killed between Saturday 9:00 pm (local time) and 5:00 am Sunday.&nbsp;

<h2>About the victims</h2>

Police identified the couple as Alberto Rolon and Zoraida Bartolomei while the names and the ages of their children were not immediately released. The police said that they do not believe that the “offender is among the victims right now,” adding that “it is not a murder-suicide.”

Naina Mahat worked as a makeup artist and hairdresser in the film industry. She lived alone in Sunteck Tower in Naigaon. However, the initial probe revealed that the murder occurred in the second week of August. Naina's family filed a missing person's complaint with the Naigaon Police on August 14, an official stated. Later, her sister told the police the man was Naina's friend, and they were about to get married. Jaya also confirmed that Shukla was forcing Naina to withdraw the case and was threatening to kill her if she disagreed. During the initial round of questioning, Manohar tried to mislead the police. However, they collected evidence against him and called him again for interrogation. He then confessed to the police and told them how he packed the body in a bag and threw it in Gujarat. "Naina was putting pressure on the accused to leave his wife and children and get married to her. Upset with this, the accused took this extreme step," the police said. While the four lost their lives in the attack, the couple's nine-year-old son sustained serious injuries but survived.

<h2>Complex legal charges</h2>

Veltman, despite admitting to killing the four Afzaal family members, has pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Additionally, he faces terrorism charges. These charges, brought under Canada's anti-terrorism laws, require the prosecution to demonstrate that Veltman's actions were motivated by politics, religion, or ideology and that they aimed to intimidate or induce fear in the public.

During opening statements in the city of Windsor, prosecutor Sarah Shaikh alleged that Veltman meticulously planned the attack over three months.

He drove his Dodge Ram truck directly at the family, accelerating with unwavering determination, "because they were Muslims," Shaikh contended. Veltman, an egg farmer from Strathroy, had reportedly purchased the vehicle just two weeks prior.

Shaikh further asserted that Veltman confessed to leaving his home on the day of the attack with the intention of targeting Muslims.

He claimed inspiration from the 2019 Christchurch shootings, in which a white nationalist killed 51 individuals. Veltman had authored a manifesto titled "A White Awakening" and identified himself as a white nationalist. The police discovered two versions of this document on his computer during a search of his residence.

A Ukrainian orphaned boy adopted by an American couple seven years back, brutally murdered his own adoptive parents. Dima Tower, 21, was adopted from a prison-like Ukrainian orphanage by Robbie and Jennifer Tower.&nbsp;

As per Warren, Jennifer and Robbie were both religious and went on Christian missions to Ukraine. The couple was unable to have a child of their own, so they adopted Dima.&nbsp;

The couple believed that with love and care, Dima would overcome his past trauma. When in Florida, Dima found it difficult to get accustomed to his new surroundings, and would get into fights at school.

The body of a fellow detainee, Littre Quiroga (33) was found with signs of torture near that of Jara.

The ruling on Monday confirmed 15-year sentences for Jara's murder and another 10 years for their kidnapping. The sentences were to be handed to Chacon and five other ex-army officials.

Eight year sentence was handed to another former soldier for the role he played in cover-up of the crimes.

Jara was known for his pacifist views. The lyrics of his songs spoke of love and social protest. The singer became an icon of Latin American music. "The right to live in peace"&nbsp;is one of his popular songs.

A 39-year-old US man has been found guilty of murdering his 10-month-old stepson, Jacob Crouch.

Born in February 2020, Jacob was found dead “in his cot alone” at his home in Linton, near Swadlincote in Derbyshire in December 2020.

<h2>Found dead with 39 rib fractures</h2>

The doctors later found 39 rib fractures, 19 visible bruises and several internal injuries.

While the boy’s stepfather, Craig Crouch (39), was convicted of murder and three counts of child cruelty, his mother, Gemma Barton (33), was found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child and a third count of child cruelty.

The couple was arrested on January 5, 2021.

"Jacob Crouch was born into a culture of cruelty where both of the people he should have been able to trust above any other allowed him to be subjected to assault after assault,” Derbyshire Police Detective Chief Inspector Paul Bullock told reporters outside the court.

"Heartbreakingly, for much of Jacob's short life, he would have been in significant pain as a result of the serious and repeated assaults."

Craig met Gemma while she was four months pregnant with Jacob and they became "very close, very quickly", calling Jacob "our little boy" after only a month.

During the seven-week trial, a harrowing case of torture and cruelty emerged, with much evidence pointing out how the couple wanted to get rid of their son.

The jury was shown text messages sent between the pair in which they discussed how Gemma needed to be "more regimental" with Jacob to "not let this take over us", claiming he was "starting to get really p***** off with him" in a later text.

Other messages revealed that the couple even referred to Jacob as “the devil” and said he was “pushing us to our limits”.

At one point, Gemma said she had “put back what Jacob threw back down him”, referring to vomit.

In September, when Barton told Crouch she was bathing Jacob, he replied "3 foot deep, just hot water and some bleach xxxx", a comment he later labelled in a police interview as "banter", reports Sky News.

During the hearing, prosecutor Mary Prior KC said Jacob’s “bones were broken on at least five occasions” and “he was assaulted with such force that he had a tear in his stomach which became perforated and that caused him to die”.
