Despite the loss, what are the positives? Well, to force the BCCI to 'propose' Women's IPL is probably the biggest takeaway for the Indian eves. Moreover, the Mitahlis, Jhulans, Mandhanas, Harmanpreet, etc. have set the base for women's cricket. As a result, India's nucleus is still strong and, thus, they have impressed in all ICC events since the last ODI World Cup, even though they remain trophy-less. The 39-year-old cricketer led the Indian cricket team in a total of 24 World Cup games. During her captaincy in World Cup matches, India emerged as a winner on 14 occasions, lost eight times and one match ended with no result.&nbsp;

On the other hand, Australia's Clark had captained her side in 23 matches. Interestingly, Mithali and Clark are the only two cricketers to have led their country at more than two World Cups.&nbsp;

Milestone for Mithali Raj! India's ODI skipper breaks World Cup captaincy record

Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur slammed centuries apiece as Indian batters tormented the West Indies bowling attack in the ongoing ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2022 on Saturday. After a disappointing show in their last game against New Zealand, the Indian women's team produced an emphatic performance with the bat against West Indies.

After opting to bat first, India got off to a good start as openers Mandhana and Yastika Bhatia (31) added 49 runs for the first wicket. The Women in Blue then lost quick wickets in the middle as the likes of captain Mithali (5) and Deepti Sharma (15) were sent back cheaply with India in a spot of bother.

Mandhana and Harmanpreet then combined to post a mammoth stand of 184 runs for the fourth wicket. While Mandhana slammed 123 runs off 119 balls laced with 13 fours and 2 sixes, Harmanpreet scored 109 runs off 107 balls with the help of ten fours and two sixes.

The duo took the West Indies bowlers to the cleaners throughout their partnership and helped India post a strong total of 317/8 in 50 overs. Harmanpreet also went on to achieve an elusive milestone with her stunning hundred as she surpassed Mithali&nbsp;and Mandhana in an elite list.

India got their campaign off to a winning start in the showpiece event with a comprehensive victory against their arch-rivals.

After posting a strong total of 244 runs on the board, Indian bowlers delivered a top-notch performance to bundle out Pakistan for a paltry 137 and clinch their first win of the tournament in style.&nbsp;While opener Smriti Mandhana continued her stellar run with a solid half-century, Sneh Rana and Pooja Vastrakar gave India a strong finish with the bat with fifties apiece lower down the order.

With the win, India have extended their unbeaten run against Pakistan in Women's World Cup. The Women in Blue have never&nbsp;lost against Pakistan in the history of the Women's World Cup with four wins in four encounters so far. While Rana and Vastrakar were India's heroes with the bat,&nbsp;Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the pick of the bowlers with a four-wicket haul.

Indian skipper Raj won the toss and opted to bat first at the Bay Oval. The decision turned out to be the right one as India got off to a brilliant start despite losing opener Shafali Verma cheaply on a duck in the third over. Mandhana combined with Deepti Sharma (40) to post a 92-run stand for the second wicket and set the stage for a big total for the Women in Blue.

However, India were left in a spot of bother after losing quick wickets in the middle as the likes of Raj (9), Harmanpreet Kaur (5) and Richa Ghosh (1) disappointed. However, Rana and Vastrakar came to India's rescue with a terrific partnership of 122 runs for the seventh wicket - the highest seventh-wicket stand in the history of the Women's ODI World Cup.

Tasked to chase 245 runs in 50 overs, Pakistan got off to a shaky start losing opener Javeria Khan on 11 off 28 balls before captain Bismah Maroof too departed cheaply on 15 off 25 balls. Indian bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular intervals to never let Pakistan make a comeback in the game as the Women in Green were skittled out with seven overs left to play.

Opener Sidra Ameen top-scored for Pakistan with 30 off 64 balls, however, she failed to find support from the other end and her efforts were not enough to help her team take control of the run-chase.

Veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami, who finished with excellent figures of 2/26 in her 10 overs, has now become the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of the Women's World Cup with 38 wickets to her name. Despite millions of fans watching on from either side of the border, both India and Pakistan captains are treating their match-up in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 as just another game.

For India's Mithali Raj, the match is the chance to build momentum as India go for a first World Cup title.

"I think as a team we are excited to get into the World Cup and starting our campaign tomorrow. It's the first game, we are not looking at it as it's Pakistan we are playing against, we're looking at a team which has come prepared and we are equally prepared to put our best foot forward and we want to set a momentum going into the tournament, so that's how we look at our first game," said Mithali, as reported by ICC.

"Every time we play a World Cup, every game is very different - different locations, different conditions, different opponent. We've tried to give everybody a go in the warm-up game, so that everybody gets into the rhythm, they form the core players - and for tomorrow's game I think all of them have been watching the first opening game and everybody has their set plans," she added.

As Raj embarks on her sixth World Cup, a record for the women's event, she shared a message for the Women in Blue.

"I think as a team, we need to get in with a clean slate, confident unit. And believe that we can always turn things around and play according to the situation. It's very important when you have a longer tournament - important to be present. Be aware on the ground and play according to the situation," said Raj.

Pakistan and India will meet in an ODI for the first time since the 2017 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, but for Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof it will be nothing out of the ordinary.

"We are well prepared and we had good practice sessions and good warm-up games and I think the things we haven't done well in the last year, we have spoken about. Whoever takes the pressure well and plays to their strength - that team will win. We`re hoping for a good match tomorrow," said Maroof.

Only time will tell which side will come out on top, but despite what the two skippers say the hopes of the two nations are pinned on a win for their side.
