<p>Brought into the side as James Anderson's replacement for this Test, Wood ended up with figures of five for 34, picking four wickets after tea. Speaking to the British Broadcasters Sky Sports after the day's play that saw England trailing behind by 195 runs, Wood said he was elated to put up a show when his team needed him the most.</p>

<p>With the disparity in his bowling average (away 24.18 and home 40.71), Wood was visibly delighted to perform on the home soil.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I was really happy that I could show in home conditions that I can bowl as well," Wood told Sky Sports after the first day's play in Leeds. "I'm delighted. Obviously, I haven't played a Test match in a while, but to be able to come back fairly fresh and produce that was pretty special."</p>

<h2>Leeds track helped me with movement</h2>

<p>Following the previous two Tests, where the wickets offered were deemed flat by players and experts, a greener track was on display for the third Test in Leeds, and per Wood, that added spice to his spells. Expressing his views on what brought him success in the presence of exceptional seam bowlers Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad, Wood said it was the movement.</p>

<p>"Movement, that's what's deadly I think. If you just bowl fast, these top players are just used to that. They face dog-stick guys [throwing the ball] off 17 yards, so they're used to facing quick bowling. So, I the thing that helped today was the movement really.</p>

<p>"I'm usually on the flat ones, to be fair, and my record is much better away from home. On wickets like today, when the ball moves around, you're automatically thinking Anderson, Broad, Robinson, Woakes. They are your top guys who can trouble people in these conditions," Wood added.</p>

<p>In the absence of pace spearheads Jofra Archer and Olly Stone, who are out with injuries, Wood was the lone 90 mph plus seamer left in England’s arsenal for the ongoing Ashes. Wood was benched for the first two Tests as England went ahead with James Anderson at Edgbaston and Lord’s. Following mediocre outings in both Tests by the England veteran, Ben Stokes decided to rest him and bring Wood and seamer Chris Woakes into the XI.</p>

<p>The change seemed to do wonders for them as England's pacers were right on target from ball one. With favourable overhead conditions, winning the toss and electing to bowl first looked right.</p>

<p>A video released on the LSG Twitter account on Sunday saw players from the team wave a final goodbye to Wood before he departed to England.</p>

<p>"For the birth of my daughter. So, sadly, but for a good reason to go home. Hopefully, I might be able to come back and hopefully, you will be able to see me again. I am sorry that unfortunately I have not played more and in the four games that I have managed to play, I have managed to get a few wickets and hopefully, I can charge in again," the England speedster said.</p>

<p>LSG have endured a tough couple of weeks having lost the services of skipper KL Rahul who injured his hamstring while playing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) while Jaydev Unadkat also had a shoulder issue. With Wood’s departure, the situation only gets tougher for the franchise while they sit third in the league with 11 points.</p>

<p>"One last push and get into those playoffs and make it to the finals. That's the goal and as a group, we understand that. It is tough in sports, you win some and you lose some but the lads are training hard. There are some fantastic characters in the group and they really try everything for your team. So keep believing and back them up, and I am sure they'll come good," Wood concluded.</p>

<p>LSG will next take the field on Saturday, May 13 when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. A win for LSG will see them cement their place in the top four while a defeat could be a spanner in the work with only three matches remaining of the league phase of the season.</p>

<p>Buttler scored 225 runs and effected nine dismissals from behind the stumps while his opening partner Hales scored 212 runs at an average of over 42. Wood finished the tournament with nine wickets and dazzled with his pace.</p>

<p>Only two players from Pakistan managed to make the cut in the elite squad despite the team reaching the final. All-rounder Shadab Khan and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi feature in the Most Valuable Team of the Tournament. <p>In the first T20I, in Perth, Buttler's 68 and Alex Hales' 84 propelled England to 208 for 6. In reply, David Warner's 44-ball 73 went in vain as the hosts managed 200 for 9. During the run-chase, a controversy emerged out in the 17th over, bowled by pacer Mark Wood. Matthew Wade was batting alongside Warner and got a top-edge off Woods' delivery and was found blocking the speedster's way from completing a return catch. As a result, the English side was miffed with Wade's antics.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With many slamming Wade, the veteran keeper-batter has finally reacted to all the criticism and accepted his mistake. "That looked horrible when I saw it after the game. <p>An England side reeling from a 151-run defeat by India, and already missing several fast bowlers, could be without Mark Wood for next week's third Test after the express quick injured himself while fielding at Lord's.</p>

<p>Wood landed heavily on his right shoulder while diving headlong into an advertising hoarding when saving a boundary on the fourth evening, but he still bowled at speeds in excess of 93 mph (150 kph) on Monday's last day of the second Test.</p>

<p>There are doubts, however, over whether the Durham paceman, whose career has been blighted by injuries, will be fit to feature at Headingley, with England due to name their squad on Wednesday.</p>

<p>England are already without several seam bowlers in the injured Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes, while all-rounder Ben Stokes is unavailable due to a mental health break.</p>

<p>"The medics are working on him (Wood), we'll find out more in the next couple of days," England coach Chris Silverwood said Tuesday after a crushing loss that left his side 1-0 down in a five-match series following a rain-marred draw at Trent Bridge.</p>

<p>"We will make a decision, along with him and our medics, closer to the time. But if he's not right, he's not right. I certainly won't push him into playing if he tells me he's not right. I will look after him."</p>

<p>But for all Silverwood lauded Wood's "superb effort", many felt he should have taken greater care in the field.</p>

<p>England, now without a win in their last seven Tests, repeatedly bowled too short at Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah during their unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 89.</p>

<p>The India duo then starred with the ball as England, set a target of 272, were shot out for 120 with 49 balls left in the day.</p>

<p>England's tactics 'crazy'</p>

<p>England's quicks appeared more interested in seeking revenge for the rough treatment number 11 James Anderson received when he batted, rather than dismissing the India tailenders.</p>

<p>"Bouncer after bouncer was crazy," said Boycott. "Emotion got the better of England and common sense went out the window."</p>

<p>England captain Joe Root -- who made a superb 180 not out in the first innings -- blamed himself for his side's tactics, but Silverwood said: "It's a collective and I'm part of that as well.</p>

<p>"We tried to go toe-to-toe with them, but what we could have done better is shift from that tactic back to Plan A, and hitting the top of off."</p>

<p>Silverwood, himself a former England bowler, praised Shami and Bumrah by saying: "I thought they handled the situation really well."</p>

<p>Meanwhile, there was no escaping England's ongoing lack of top-order runs, with a first three of Rory Burns, Dom Sibley&nbsp;and&nbsp;Haseeb Hameed&nbsp;each out for a duck at Lord's.</p>

<p>Only left-handed opener Burns, with a first-innings 49, managed a score of any note.</p>

<p>England may drop Sibley, averaging under 20 in Tests this year, following his duck on Monday.</p>
