<p>A CCTV footage recorded the whole incident. It showed the victim walking down a residential alleyway in Bucktown in the afternoon while eating a slice of pizza when&nbsp;two men ran up to him from behind and attacked him with a punch to his head. As soon as he fell next to the chain-link fence, the attackers began to rain blows on him with their fists and feet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The victim screamed and tried to resist. However, the fight split across the alley. He managed to bring one of the attackers to the ground&nbsp;but the other began stomping him with his feet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A car across the street blared its horn to warn and distract the attackers. Eventually, they snatched the victim's bag and cell phone and delivered a violent stomp before walking away calmly.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A 43-year-old married man allegedly killed his live-in partner in Palghar, Maharashtra, by drowning her in a tub of water, the police said on Wednesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The deceased, identified as Naina Mahat, had been in a relationship with the accused, Manohar Ravi Shankar Shukla, for five years. Naina, 28, filed a rape case against him at the Waliv and Virar police stations after she learned he was married and refused to marry her, the police told ANI.</p>

<p>Shukla asked Naina to withdraw the case. However, when she refused to do so, he murdered her, as per reports.</p>

<p>"The accused threatened and pressured the woman to withdraw the case. When the woman refused, the man killed her by drowning her in a tub of water," the police said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the murder, Shukla sought his wife's help, stuffed Naina's body in a suitcase and disposed it off in a creek in Valsad, Gujarat.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Naina Mahat worked as a makeup artist and hairdresser in the film industry. She lived alone in Sunteck Tower in Naigaon.</p>

<p>The building's CCTV footage showed Naina coming and going with a man. Later, her sister told the police the man was Naina's friend, and they were about to get married. Jaya also confirmed that Shukla was forcing Naina to withdraw the case and was threatening to kill her if she disagreed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the initial round of questioning, Manohar tried to mislead the police. However, they collected evidence against him and called him again for interrogation. He then confessed to the police and told them how he packed the body in a bag and threw it in Gujarat. "Naina was putting pressure on the accused to leave his wife and children and get married to her. Upset with this, the accused took this extreme step," the police said.</p>

<p>The police arrested Shukla and his wife on Tuesday. They have registered a case against the accused under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).</p>

<p>The grand debut of Toco, which was captured during the filming of a segment for a German TV station, was well-received by passers-by and other dogs who looked curious. It was difficult to understand if they realised that Toco wasn’t a natural-born dog.<br />

“I became a collie, fulfilling a dream I had since I was a little child to be an animal!” read the subtitles flashed at the beginning of the video.<br />

Toco, giving an introduction on his YouTube channel, explained through a series of written notes translated from Japanese, “Nice to meet you. I became a rough (sic) collie because I wanted to be an animal … Please let me know your request for the video you would like to see in the comments!”<br />

Toco stated that he has been hiding his human identity because he does not want people, who know him, to judge him for his new look.<br />

“I don’t want my hobbies to be known, especially by the people I work with. They think it’s weird that I want to be a dog. For the same reason why I can’t show my real face,” he said while speaking to the Daily Mail last year.</p>

<p>A tragic incident occurred at a recreation centre in Adams Morgan, Northwest Washington, DC, where a man was found shot and killed on a soccer field on&nbsp;Wednesday evening, media reports said.&nbsp;According to the police, the shooting was the result of a dispute, and they are now searching for the gunman responsible for the crime.</p>

<p>Sadly, the man who was shot was unresponsive when the police arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time, and there were no other reported injuries.</p>

<h2><strong>Police investigation&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Acting Chief Pamela Smith, recently appointed as the leader of the Metropolitan Police Department, provided an update to the press near the crime scene.</p>

<p>Based on preliminary findings, Chief Smith said that the individuals involved in the shooting knew each other, and the incident did not appear to be random or connected to the nearby soccer game.</p>

<p>In a bizarre step, radio DJ Randy 'R Dub' Williams, after travelling to over 190 UN-designated countries across the world, has established his own micronation called 'Slowjamastan' and made himself 'Sultan' of the territory, which spreads across 11 acres in the Golden State.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The micronation, like any other country, has rules for residents. The actions outlawed include eating string cheese by biting through it and not pulling it apart, playing 'mumble rap' music and wearing crocs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The United States has not officially recognised the micronations, although 16 countries have stamped Williams' Slowjamastan passport. The man has claimed that 5,000 people have signed up to become&nbsp;his country's citizens.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After purchasing the land in 2021, the Sultan made efforts to cultivate it into a nation and place it on the map.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The micronation has its own national anthem called 'Slowjamastan (I think It's Gonna Be an Awesome Place),' and also has a national animal - the ringtail raccoon and a 'parliament'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The currency of Slowjamastan is the 'duble'. Speaking about the structure of the government, Williams said it's a &nbsp;dictatorship which becomes a democracy occasionally.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We are a republic on some days, but on (other) days we have a dictatorship. I am the great leader that makes the rules, although sometimes … we let the community chime in on issues that are important to the Slowjamastani," the radio DJ said.</p>

<p>In a bizarre incident, a man faked his own death in Belgium and then dramatically reached his own funeral in a helicopter. The dramatic stunt was pulled by the man to teach his family the importance of staying in touch.</p>

<p>TikTok creator David Baerten, aged 45, informed his wife and children about his plan of faking his death and they helped him in pulling the stunt by going along with him on the social media platform.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To trick Baerten's followers, one of his daughters wrote on social media, "Rest in peace, Daddy. I will never stop thinking about you. Why is life so unfair? Why you? You were going to be a grandfather, and you still had your whole life ahead of you. I love you! We love you! We will never forget you."</p>

Apparently, the accused said that he was not in a good mood, however, he agreed to remove the profile picture. Later, Amarjeet noticed that the profile picture remained unchanged. A complaint was lodged by Amarjeet against him with the Vashi police station in Navi Mumbai.</p>

<p>The accused man told about his actions to his relatives and the woman was rushed to a hospital. However, the deed was already done as the doctors declared the woman brought dead. A complaint was registered by the woman's father.</p>

<p>As per the preliminary probe into the murder case, some nail marks were found on the woman's throat.&nbsp; After this disclosure, the police interrogated the accused and that is when he confessed to the crime, PTI news agency reported citing a police official at Saidabad Police Station.</p>

<p>A man stripped entirely naked and climbed onto the altar of the Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican, in an apparent protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.</p>

<p>Reuters news agency, quoting a Vatican source, reported that the man, whose identity has not been revealed yet, had an inscription painted on his back calling for the children of Ukraine to be saved.</p>

<p>It is further reported that the man also had self-inflicted cuts on his body from his fingernails, with local media describing him as deranged.</p>

<p>The incident took place on Thursday just before the basilica closed. The Vatican guards have handed the man over to Italian police.</p>

<p>Several Italian media websites ran photos of the incident taken by tourists.</p>

<p>Russia's invasion began with dozens of missile strikes on cities all over Ukraine on February 24, 2022.</p>

<p>Russian ground troops moved in quickly and within a few weeks controlled large areas of Ukraine, but continue to face stiff resistance from Ukrainian forces.</p>

<p>There have been several media reports that Russia has been abducting Ukrainian children and transporting them to Russian-controlled areas.</p>

<p>According to an estimate by Ukraine's National Information Bureau, around 16,000 Ukrainian children have been taken to Russia or Russian-controlled territory since the start of the war. Some human rights experts even predict the number to be in the hundreds of thousands. However, no incriminating proof so far has been shared.</p>

<p>On March 17 this year, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin, holding him responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of children to Russian-controlled territories.</p>

<p>Moscow, however, claims that the children under its watch were either orphans or had requested evacuation, but Kyiv claims that it’s an attempt to erase Ukraine’s identity by stealing its future.</p>

<p>These children belong to the occupied areas such as Kherson, Kharkiv and Mariupol.</p>

<p>Some reports suggest that the Russian troops abducted the children who had parents and then asked them to sign a release form without being told the children would not be coming back.</p>

<p>It is further claimed that an unknown number of children, including those whose parents were killed by Russian forces, are being forcibly adopted in Russia.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ukraine-based Regional Center for Human Rights claims that at least 400 Ukrainian orphans have been adopted by Russian families, based on the calculation from Russian government statements in January.</p>

Grew, who joined Man Group in 2009 and is presently its president, will relocate to the United Kingdom for the position but will continue to spend a significant amount of time in the United States, as reported by Bloomberg.</p>

<p>According to a second announcement issued in February, the firm appointed Anne Wade as its first female chairman to replace John Cryan, who is retiring at the end of 2023.</p>

<p>As per a&nbsp;March Preqin survey, women make up only 21.3&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;of employees in thousands&nbsp;of hedge funds and other alternative investment firms worldwide. They only hold 13.6 per cent&nbsp;of senior positions, and the proportion of female board members is much smaller, at 10.3&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;, according to the data provider.</p>

<p>In some parts of the industry, some progress has been made. SurgoCap Partners, founded by Mala Gaonkar, launched her hedge fund with $1.8 billion under management, the highest debut for a woman-led hedge fund in history.</p>

<p>A man in the US, who faced an alleged scam of $40 in parking fees by a fake parking attendant while he came for a date, fatally shot the scammer before he returned for dinner nonchalantly in Houston, Texas.</p>

<p>As per a press release, the accused man has been identified by the government as 29-year-old Erick Aguirre. On Thursday, he appeared before the court to face murder charges over the death of 46-year-old Elliot Nix.</p>

<p>As per a report in CNN, Aguirre continued with his planned dinner date as he told his partner "everything is fine", after he allegedly shot dead Nix in the car parking near Rodeo Goat restaurant in Houston.</p>

<p>They were told by the fraud parking attendant that the parking would cost $20 each. Aguirre then paid the man $40. However, he was later informed by the restaurant staff that Nix did not work for them and was not responsible for the parking lot.</p>

<p>A witness who saw the initial interaction of Nix with the 29-year-old told the police officials said that he saw the accused getting inside his car, grabbing a gun and running after the victim who was out of his view.</p>

<p>The witness added that he heard the gunshot and then "observed the suspect nonchalantly walking back to his car with the gun in his hand".</p>

<p>According to the report, someone found Nix, who was bleeding, lying in the street and dialled the emergency number. The police stated that Aguirre was shot in the torso of Nix, and later he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.</p>

<p>On the other hand, Aguirre later left the scene, kept the gun back in his car and walked back to the place where his date was waiting for him.</p>

<p>The couple then entered the restaurant and later the woman, who accompanied the accused on the date, informed the police she had no knowledge of the shooting and did not witness anything herself.</p>

<p>When Aguirre came back to the lady after he killed Nix, he told her "he just scared the guy and everything was fine," said the woman while speaking to the investigators.</p>

<p>Before sitting inside the restaurant, "Erick started to look uncomfortable and suggested they go eat somewhere else," she further said.</p>

<p>Currently, Aguirre is being held on a $200,000 bond. The accused has not entered a plea and continues to remain behind bars from Friday night.</p>

The man registered himself under the name Millicent Awuor, wore a 'niqab' and managed to take the mickey out of everyone at the tournament before getting caught.&nbsp;</p>

According to the organisers, to keep his identity hidden, the player wore a niqab each day, which left his glasses and eyes visible only. Even during the registration process, he didn't utter a word and only scribbled on the paper during matches.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The tournament executives of the Kenya Open were apprehensive of the said participant but refused to intervene thinking she was an orthodox Muslim woman.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the lid was blown open after Awuor defeated former national champion Gloria Jumba and Ugandan top player Ampaira Shakira. Chief arbiter Antony Kionga stated that as the tournament progressed, both players and his staff noticed that the person in question seemed suspicious. The player had an odd walking style and wore shoes commonly used by men.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Afterwards, Kionga decided to take action and called the 'niqab-clad' woman to a private room and demanded an identification document. No sooner did Kionga ask for the documents, the impostor broke down and admitted to his wrongdoing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The man, later identified as Stanley Omondi, said he was a university student, desperate for money and that's why he took to cheating.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The reason was due to financial needs but I deeply regret my action and [am] ready to accept all consequences," he wrote in a letter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Omondi had an international rating nearing 1500 and a blitz rating close to 1750. He has been booted out of the tournament while his points have&nbsp;been awarded to the opponents.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The chatbot, which is currently under fire, had received training from Chai Research co-founders Thomas Rianlan and William Beauchamp, reported Vice, adding that the Chai app has till now garnered five million users.</p>

<p>“The second we heard about this (suicide), we worked around the clock to get this feature implemented,” said Beauchamp, while speaking to Vice.</p>

<p>“So now, when anyone discusses something that could be not safe, we’re gonna be serving a helpful text underneath it in the exact same way that Twitter or Instagram do&nbsp;on their platforms,” he further stated.</p>

<p>As per the widow, the man had become “extremely pessimistic about the effects of global warming” and was seeking solace by confiding in the AI.</p>

<p>A Bolivian man claimed that he went missing in the Amazon rainforest alone for a month where he ate worms and insects, used boots to collect water and drank his own urine to survive.</p>

<p>If the claims of the man are confirmed, Jhonatan Acosta, aged 30, would become one of the longest-ever lone survivors of Amazon.</p>

<p>“It helped a lot to know about survival techniques: I had to consume insects, drink my urine, eat worms,” he said while speaking to Unitel TV on Tuesday. “I was attacked by animals,” he added.</p>

<p>At the end of January, Acosta's family reported that he has gone missing. He had gone on a hunting trip to the Amazon rainforest with four friends but somehow got separated from his trip members on January 25. Last Saturday, almost a month later, he was discovered by the search and rescue teams.</p>

<p>Acosta said that it rained for around half of the month. He added that to collect whatever rainwater was possible, he used his rubber boots. However, when there was no rain, he was forced to drink his own urine.</p>

<p>“I asked God for rain. If it hadn’t rained, I would not have survived,” Acosta said. Acosta added that he walked for about 40km (25 miles) in the hope to find a civilisation but soon realised that he had been going around in circles.</p>

<p>According to reports, the man lost 17kg and dislocated his ankle during his stay in the Amazon rainforest. He was exposed to all wild elements at night and was bitten by different creatures.</p>

<p>Acosta's sister Miladde Acosta said that her brother “had to fight with a pig, which is a wild and dangerous animal”, and a tiger lurked nearby, reported CBS.</p>
