Pop legends Madonna and Dua Lipa have reportedly been booked for headline acts for Glastonbury 2024, marking a significant step forward for gender diversity at the renowned music extravaganza.

According to a report published by Mail on Sunday, Madonna will close the festival on Sunday while Dua Lipa will take the stage on Friday. In between, on Saturday, the ever-popular British band Coldplay will grace the Pyramid Stage. This will be Coldplay's fifth appearance at Glastonbury.

This news comes in the wake of criticism that the festival faced last year due to an all-male lineup featuring Arctic Monkeys, Guns N' Roses, and Sir Elton John. The decision to feature two female headliners in 2024 will be seen as a significant response to these concerns and a statement of Glastonbury's commitment to promoting gender diversity.

Emily Eavis, co-organiser of Glastonbury Festival, had previously voiced her commitment to addressing the gender disparity in festival line-ups. Speaking on Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw's Sidetracked podcast, she stated, "I've always been really passionate about gender split [on festival line-ups]. It is difficult with female artists because there aren't enough headliners. But we're also creating them. We're putting the bands and female artists on smaller stages and bringing them through all the time."

Madonna kicks off 78-date world tour in London four months after health scare

Three-and-a-half months after she was hospitalised with a bacterial infection that forced the cancellation of her 40th anniversary "Celebration" tour, Madonna returns on Saturday with the start of a 78-date tour.

At 65, the singer looks set to put her health woes behind her with a six-month-long tour of Europe and North America starting at London's 02 Arena.

The tour will also take in the Accor Arena in Paris on November 12, 13, 19 and 20 and the Bell Center in Montreal on January 18 and 20, before winding up at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico on April 24.

The show promises to be a "documentary through her vast career" drawing on archive footage and studio recordings from the four decades since her breakthrough single "Holiday" in 1983, according to her musical director Stuart Price.

"A greatest hit doesn't have to be a song. It can be a wardrobe, it can be a video or a statement," Price told the BBC in an interview.

Madonna spent several days in intensive care in New York after being found unconscious in her New York apartment in June.

But the singer was back and fighting fit after her health scare, Price said. "The person that is going to take the stage looks incredible, sounds incredible, performs incredible," he said.

The star's hospital stay meant that the North American leg of the tour -- originally due to begin on July 15 in Vancouver -- had to be rescheduled with the European leg opening as planned on Saturday.

"My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children," Madonna said in July in a social media post. "My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour."

"My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can!" she added.

- 'Material Girl' -

The Grammy-winning icon behind classics including "Like A Virgin" and "Material Girl" has asserted incalculable influence as one of music's top stars. Her decades-long career, which has also taken in acting, film directing and business ventures, has made her one of the wealthiest artists on the planet.

In 2020 she underwent hip replacement surgery following an injury sustained on her "Madame X" tour. Madonna, whose full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone, was born in August 1958 in Michigan, to parents of Italian and French-Canadian origins.

After starting out as a dancer in the late 1970s in New York with $35 in her pocket, she went on to win seven Grammy Awards and sell more than 300 million records worldwide.

The show's setlist has been kept a closely guarded secret with scores of hits to choose from. The show is expected to feature around 45 songs, 25 in their entirety and extracts of around 20 more.

"That was the big challenge," said Price. "In two hours, can you get all of it in? That's hard. But every great moment she's had, we took a bit of it." The singer known for her sometimes provocative outfits such as the pink conical bra outfit by Jean Paul Gaultier, will be dressed by the Georgian Guram Gvasalia, director of the young label Vetements.

For the first time since her early days, Madonna will not be performing alongside an on-stage band, added Price. "There are live musicians that perform at different parts of the show," Price said. "But what we realised is that the original recordings are our stars. Those things can't be replicated and can't be recreated, so we decided just to embrace that."

Madonna unveils rescheduled dates for her Celebration Tour

Today, the world celebrates the 65th birthday of Madonna, an enduring musical legend and pop culture icon whose influence transcends generations. From her humble beginnings in Michigan to her meteoric rise as the Queen of Pop, and one of the most well-known artistes the world had ever seen, her journey is a testament to her unparalleled creativity, boldness, and unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries. Born in 1958 as Madonna Louise Ciccone, Madonna revolutionised the music industry with her distinctive voice, unapologetic persona, and innovative style. Throughout her illustrious career, she has consistently redefined herself and challenged societal norms. Her music videos, including "Like a Virgin," "Material Girl," and "Vogue," not only showcased her exceptional talent but also served as visual spectacles that dazzled audiences worldwide.

How Madonna carved her own path

What sets Madonna apart is her ability to remain relevant and influential across decades. Her albums, such as Like a Prayer, Ray of Light, and Confessions on a Dance Floor, reflected her adaptability to evolving musical trends while maintaining her signature sound. This adaptability was matched only by her knack for sparking conversations on topics like sexuality and religion to gender equality and social justice that were not part of popular music until then.

Madonna, the fashionista

Throughout her career, Madonna has also transformed the way we perceive and consume fashion. Her journey as a fashionista has been marked by her daring choices, trend-setting ensembles, and a confident attitude that continues to inspire designers, artists, and fashion enthusiasts around the globe. From her early days in the 1980s, she was determined to make her mark not only through her music but also through her unique fashion choices. Her debut album, "Madonna," introduced a style that was a blend of punk, pop, and sheer audacity. She made lace gloves, layered jewelry, and bustier tops iconic elements of her signature look, effectively setting the stage for her future role as a fashion trendsetter.

Madonna, the film star

Beyond her reign as the Queen of Pop and her status as a fashion icon, Madonna's artistic endeavours extend into the realm of cinema, where she has proven her mettle as a versatile and daring film star. Her debut foray into acting began in the 1980s with her role in Desperately Seeking Susan. In this comedy-drama, she portrayed the character of Susan Thomas, a free-spirited bohemian who sparks a series of humorous and intriguing events. This debut role allowed Madonna to showcase her natural on-screen charisma and establish herself as a promising actress.

However, it was Madonna's portrayal of Eva Perón in the 1996 film Evita, based on the 1976 concept album of the same name produced by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, that truly solidified her status as a film star. Directed by Alan Parker, the film provided Madonna with a platform to demonstrate her acting range and singing prowess simultaneously.

Madonna, the social justice warrior

Beyond her art, Madonna's impact extends to her advocacy of various social causes. She has used her platform to champion LGBTQ+ rights, women's empowerment, and global humanitarian efforts. In 2013, she launched her charitable organisation, Raising Malawi, focusing on providing vulnerable children in Malawi with education and healthcare services.

Madonna back home from hospital after serious bacterial infection

On Wednesday, talent manager and producer Guy Oseary announced on Instagram that the “Material Girl” singer, 64, was in the ICU due to a health scare and is now recovering.

Madonna hospitalised for serious bacterial infection, halts tour

Madonna is recovering after falling ill with a "serious bacterial infection" that landed her in an intensive care unit for several days, her manager Guy Oseary said in a statement Wednesday.

"Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care," he said. "A full recovery is expected."

Oseary said the 64-year-old pop icon's "Celebrations" tour, due to start July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, was postponed until further notice.

The New York Post's Page Six website said the pop star was taken to a hospital in the city after becoming unwell.

Madonna's global, nearly sold-out tour was billed as paying homage to her more than four-decade-long career, and according to her website boasted 84 concert dates.

Stops in the United States were to include Detroit, Chicago, Miami and New York, the city where her storied rise to superstardom began.

She was then slated to continue in Europe, with dates in London, Barcelona and Paris, as well as four dates in Mexico City.

The Grammy-winning megastar behind classics including "Like a Virgin" has asserted incalculable influence over her stellar career as one of music's top stars.

In his statement on social media, her manager vowed to provide more information when available, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.

In 2020 Madonna underwent hip replacement surgery following an injury sustained on her "Madame X" tour.

'Material Girl'

Born in 1958, the Catholic-educated artist headed to New York in the late 1970s with just 35 dollars in her pocket.

She scraped a living through everything from nude modelling to selling donuts.

Her first big single was "Everybody" in 1982, followed by a string of hits including "Lucky Star," "Borderline," and "Holiday."

The 1984 release of "Like A Virgin" propelled Madonna onto the international stage.

She followed up in 1985 with another disco anthem, "Material Girl."

The early 1990s saw her don infamous pointy cone-shaped bras on her "Blond Ambition" Tour in 1990.

Madonna is recovering after falling ill with a "serious bacterial infection" that landed her in an intensive care unit for several days, her manager Guy Oseary said in a statement Wednesday.

Madonna is recovering after falling ill with a "serious bacterial infection" that landed her in an intensive care unit for several days, her manager Guy Oseary said in a statement Wednesday. "Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care," he said. "A full recovery is expected." Oseary said the 64-year-old pop icon's "Celebrations" tour, due to start July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, was postponed until further notice. 'Material Girl' Born in 1958, the Catholic-educated artist headed to New York in the late 1970s with just 35 dollars in her pocket. She scraped a living through everything from nude modelling to selling donuts. Her first big single was "Everybody" in 1982, followed by a string of hits including "Lucky Star," "Borderline," and "Holiday." The 1984 release of "Like A Virgin" propelled Madonna onto the international stage. She followed up in 1985 with another disco anthem, "Material Girl." The early 1990s saw her don infamous pointy cone-shaped bras on her "Blond Ambition" Tour in 1990. She also released a racy book called "Sex," filled with photographs of sexual acts that was released to accompany her 1992 album "Erotica." In the late 1990s, her music took off in a new direction, thumping to a new dance-flavoured beat on her multi-award-winning 1998 album "Ray of Light." Madonna hospitalised: In ICU for several days, 'Celebrations' tour postponed

Pop diva Madonna's iconic and controversial Sex book will be up for auction for the first time. The book had raised eyebrows when it had released and featured naked photos of Madonna, then 34, in various locales of New York and Miami - from burlesque hotels to the streets of the city. The photos were clicked by Steve Meisel.

Renowned auction house Christie's had announced that prints of the photographs from the iconic book will be placed for auction for the first time.

"Christie's is pleased to announce its participation in the ongoing anniversary celebration initiated by Madonna and Saint Laurent's re-issue of SEX the boundary-pushing 1992 photography book by Madonna and Steven Meisel," a statement shared on Christie's website reads.

"As part of the project, Christie's will present Madonna x Meisel – The Sex Photographs an auction of over 40 works, as editions of one, in a live sale taking place in New York on 6 October 2023," the announcement further added.

Madonna, now 64, celebrated the announcement by sharing snippets of the photos on Instagram. She also explained in the caption that proceeds from the auction will go to Raising Malawi, a charity started by her, which is "dedicated to transforming the lives of children in Malawi through health, education and community support."

The coffee table book was released a day after Madonna had dropped her fifth studio album Erotica in October 1992. It remained on the top spot of the New York Times Best Seller list for three weeks straight.

The book initiated conversations about sexual self-expression in the '90s and is often considered a turning point in her career.
IN October 2022, while celebrating the book's anniversary on Instagram, Madonna had called out those who have sex-shamed her while she empowered a whole new generation of stars.

"Thirty years ago I published a book called S.E.X. in addition to photos of me naked. There were photos of men kissing men, woman (sic) kissing woman, and me kissing everyone," she started. "I also wrote about my sexual fantasies and shared my point of view about sexuality in an ironic way."

"I spent the next few years being interviewed by narrow-minded people who tried to shame me for empowering myself as a woman. I was called a whore, a witch, a heretic and the devil. Now Cardi B can sing about her WAP. Kim Kardashian can grace the cover of any magazine with her a— and Miley Cyrus can come in like a wrecking ball. You're welcome bitches......." she added, with a clown emoji.

The pictures are reportedly set to be sold at the auction for as much as £240,000.

Madonna's older brother Anthony Ciccone has died. The news was revealed by musician Joe Henry, who is married to Madonna's sister Melanie Ciccone. Henry took to Instagram on Saturday to share the news about Anthony's death and described him as a "complex character." He was 66.

"My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, exited this earthly plane last evening," Henry wrote in his caption. "I've known him since I was 15, in the spring of our lives in Michigan so many years now gone. As brother Dave Henry (who took this photograph) notes here, Anthony was a complex character; and god knows: we tangled in moments, as true brothers can."

"But I loved him, and understood him better than I was sometimes willing to let on," he continued. "But trouble fades; and family remains— with hands reached across the table. Farewell, then, brother Anthony. I want to think the god your blessed mother (and mine) believed in has her there, waiting to receive you. At least for today, no one shall dissuade me from this vision."

Madonna admits to plastic surgery, asks fans if she looks 'cute'

Madonna has slammed those who had commented on her looks during her recent outing at the Grammys. The pop icon took to social media to share a long post saying that "ageism and misogyny' have led to such perception about her.

She borrowed words from the ceremony's big winner Beyonce and wrote, "You won't break my soul."

The pop superstar said that she believes criticism of her look is rooted far less in her appearance than longstanding historical resistance to her brazen attitude - combined with a desire to push back at women just for refusing to step outside of the limelight as they age.

"A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 and feels the need to punish her if she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working and adventurous," she wrote on Instagram.

"It was an honour for me to Introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys. I wanted to give the last award which was Album of the Year, but I thought it was more important that I present the first trans-woman performing at the Grammys - a history-making moment!! And on top of that, she won a Grammy!!

The singer felt that instead of focusing on the speech that she gave for artists Sam and Kim, most focussed on close-up shots of her face that the singer alleged were taken from zoom lense which would distort anyone's face.
"Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in."

"I have never apologised for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I'm not going to start. I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career, but I understand that this is all a test, and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come."

In the words of Beyonce, 'You won't break my soul.' I look forward to many more years of subversive behaviour - pushing boundaries, standing up to the patriarchy and most of all, enjoying my life," Madonna wrote.
Is Madonna planning to go on a tour? Here's what we know

Pop star Madonna has been accused of child trafficking under the garb of running her orphanage named Raising Malawi. This news came to the fore as the Ethiopian World Federation urged Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera to order an investigation into the “homosexual and transgender allegations over the adoption of the Malawian children for possible ‘human trafficking and social experiments”.

The Ethiopian World Federation has since asked the country’s president to restrict the pop star and her company to have restricted “accessibility to Africa and to African children as precautionary measure until a thorough investigation is done into child trafficking, sex exploitation, sexual slavery, adoption reversal, threat of coercion, fraud, deception and abuse of power or vulnerability”.

The Ethiopian World Federation petition states of Madonna that the “psychology behind her ability to release child pornography, religious imagery, bestiality and vulgar pornography has prompted her to open an orphanage in Malawi named ‘Raising Malawi’ in 2006 to host social experiments on vulnerable African children in Malawi”.

The petition makes references to a book that Madonna wrote in 1992 called ‘SEX’, which “features adult content including softcore pornography and simulations of sexual acts including sadomasochism (the derivation of sexual gratification from the infliction of physical pain or humiliation either on another person or on oneself)”.

“Gay porn stars were photographed in pornographic pictures with Madonna performing vulgar sex acts with the same sex which should have been disclosed during her adoption case in 2006 in Lilongwe, Malawi. Madonna had to sign a contract that forbade the book from including images of child pornography, bestiality, or religious imagery. Shortly after signing that agreement, Madonna founded a company called Maverick, a partnership with Time Warner. She now holds total artistic control over any work released by Maverick, who is now the book’s publisher. The agreement she signed with Time Warner with the sexually explicit content in the book was null and void”.

Madonna’s holiday was a bit risque just like her fashion choices as the singer shared a sultry video which showed her clad in lacy black lingerie while looking at the camera.

The video had Eartha Kitt’s flirty track ‘Santa Baby’ playing in the backdrop. It ended with a photo of Madonna alongside her four youngest children. Madonna can be seen in a fluffy jacket and a Santa hat as she posed alongside kids David, 17, Mercy, 16, Stelle, 10, and Estere, 10.

From the looks of it, Madonna filmed the lingerie footage just before she posed for her family photo. She can be seen wearing her famous diamond cross necklace in both the video and the image. Madonna posts sultry video as part of Christmas celebration

Queen of Pop Madonna has been posting quite weird stuff on her social media platform. Recently, Madonna again sparked another online outcry after she posted a bizarre video of her licking water out of a dog bowl.

In the new Instagram reel video, the 60-year-old songstress is wearing a green furry crop top matched with black sequin hotpants and fishnet stockings. The montage video showed Madonna posing in a very sensual and provocative way.

The video starts from her snaps where she can be seen posing with a bike, a painting, and a tree, As the video nears its end, you can see more weird stuff. First, she can be seen posing sexually with some objects and last, you can see Madonna drinking water out of a pet's bowl. The end has a little blurry effect.

"Growing up in the 80s, Madonna had such an impact on me! Her artistry, talent, originality, and rawness truly captivated me! She had truly revolutionised music, fashion, and style. She was my role model, and I had been her biggest fan. Sadly, the iconic Madonna is now long gone. And my question is: WHY? I can’t even begin to comprehend what the heck happened to her.
