<p>"We can't let the best player in the world today leave for free. It's impossible," Khelaifi said.</p>

<p>Khelaifi even gave Mbappe an ultimatum of a "maximum two weeks" to make his decision: sign a new contract or leave this summer. That date corresponds roughly with the departure of the team for Japan.</p>

<p>If Mbappe refuses to sign, the club must sell him in this transfer window, otherwise they will likely lose him for nothing when his deal ends after next season.</p>

Talking highly of the young attacker, Modi said Mbappe’s growing presence is felt everywhere and that he is probably more famous among football fans in India than in France.</p>

<p>Having already opened their campaign with wins against the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland in March, last year's World Cup runners-up appear certainties to qualify for next year's finals in Germany.</p>

<p>Their next match is against Ireland in September, by which time it will be clear where Mbappe will be playing his club football next season.</p>

<p>Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain took another step towards securing the Ligue 1 title despite an unconvincing performance in beating bottom club Angers 2-1 on Friday. Mbappe scored the opener in the ninth minute and added another before the half-hour mark to move clear as the French top flight's leading marksman on 22 goals for the campaign.</p>

<p>It looked like PSG might go on to record a big victory but they eased off in the second half and relegation-bound Angers pulled a goal back late on through Sada Thioub.</p>
