Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard feels that pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has taken over the mantle from Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga to become the lynchpin of the four-time IPL champions' bowling attack.

"A couple of years ago, we had a fit and fair Lasith Malinga and he (Bumrah) has taken over that mantle now," he added. 
Malinga, the highest wicket-taker in the IPL, opted out this year citing personal reasons. 
Chasing five runs in the first Super Over, skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock failed to take MI across the finish line.

In the second Super Over, Pollard and Hardik Pandya helped the defending champions score 11 runs.

"Obviously there are decision-makers to make the decision, you know we can look at those things and say that's where we lost the game but we played a very good game of cricket. We batted well," said Pollard.

Mumbai have lost two games via Super Overs. They were defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier in the tournament. 
Their five-match winning streak broken by KXIP, the defending champions are placed second with 12 points.

"Just a matter of improvement, each and every time we step on the cricket field it is to improve and to do better. We will look back and analyse the game and we will come up with a better plan and hopefully get two points in the next game," said the all-rounder. 
KXIP pacer Chris Jordan, who bowled the second Super Over for his team, was delighted to be on the winning side.

"I feel like the way we have played a lot of our games this season, they could have been very easily ended with us on the winning side," Jordan said during the post-match press conference.

"Unfortunately, that was not the case. I think from the last two games, specially the kind of team spirit and camaraderie we have shown as an entire team and entire franchise has been second to none.

"Just glad that we have a little bit of luck going our way now but we can't rest on that," he added.

Jordon conceded 11 runs of the second Super Over. Chris Gayle then hit the first ball bowled by Trent Boult for a six before opener Mayank Agarwal cracked successive fours as KXIP notched up an incredible win to keep their IPL play-off hopes alive.

The presence of the big-hitting Gayle in the playing XI has also inspired the team.

"You can see the impact the legend himself, Gayle, made in the last two games. Hitting a fifty after not playing for a while and then finish off the game in the Super Over for us. It is great to have, what I considered to be a great of the game, in our team. His energy is unbelievable," Jordan said.

KXIP have got the better of MI and RCB in their last two games, however, KL Rahul and his men have been guilty of making their run chases too close and the pacer hopes his side can close in matches quicker.

"If we want to take it to the next level, we have got to keep doing simple things and hopefully finish off games a bit quick as well," Jordan added.

Pollard scored 9,966 runs (total runs in international and franchise cricket), his quick-fire 34 off 15 balls allowed him to join his fellow teammate Gayle (13,296) in the 10,000 runs club.

West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been named as the new captain of their one-day international and Twenty20 teams, the country's cricket board (CWI) said on Monday.

Pollard, who has not played an ODI for West Indies since October 2016, replaces Jason Holder at the helm. Holder, who led the team at the last two 50-over World Cups, will continue to lead the side in Test cricket.

"We believe Kieron Pollard is the right person at the right time now to lead the West Indies team in white ball cricket," CWI President Ricky Skerritt said at a news conference.

"Jason Holder is a very important force and he is still going to be our red ball captain."

Pollard will begin his captaincy by travelling to India for a series against Afghanistan. They will play three T20s followed by three ODI matches in November.

Defending Champions Mumbai lost the&nbsp;last chance to book a play-off berth in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League as they have been kicked out of the tournament by Delhi team at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Sunday.

Earlier, the host Delhi had won the toss and opted to bat in order to take the advantage of a dry pitch and put up a 175-run target for&nbsp;Mumbai.

While chasing, team Mumbai lost all the wickets in 19.3 overs and failed to reach the target eventually losing the match by 11 runs.

Defending Champions Mumbai lost the last chance to book a play-off berth in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League as they have been kicked out of the tournament by Delhi team at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Sunday. Earlier, the host Delhi had won the toss and opted to bat in order to take the advantage of a dry pitch and put up a 175-run target for Mumbai. While chasing, team Mumbai lost all the wickets in 19.3 overs and failed to reach the target eventually losing the match by 11 runs. The opener Evin Lewis scored 48 runs to give a required start to the team but another opener Suryakumar Yadav did not contribute much as he scored just 12 runs before losing his wicket to star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. Ishan Kishan and Keiron Pollard too were ineffective in today's game as they scored just five and seven runs respectively. Rohit Sharma, who suffered an injury in the first inning while fielding, scored just 13 runs off 11 balls. Also, allrounder Krunal Pandya scored just four runs. Hardik Pandya and Ben Cutting tried to push the run rate but that was not enough to take the team through to the play-offs. Hardik Pandya scored 27 runs before losing the wicket to Amit Mishra on the other hand bowler Harshal Patel outbowled Ben Cutting at the score of 37 runs. Ben's short inning included two 4's and three 6's. In the death overs, Mayank Markande (3) and Jasprit Bumrah (0) lost their wickets. For Delhi, spinners were very economical as Sandeep Lamichhane and Amit Mishra took three wickets each to restrict the defending champions. Also, pacer Harshal Patel made a very crucial contribution in his 2.3-over spell by taking three wickets by giving 28 runs. For a magnificent spell, Amit Mishra was awarded 'Player of the Match.' Earlier, after losing first three wickets, Delhi's Rishab Pant rose to the occasion to help its team set a decent score of 174 runs on board. The wicket-keeper batsman slammed 64 runs in 44 balls which included four boundaries and four huge sixes. It is Pant's fifth half-century in this year's tournament. Supporting him at the other end was Vijay Shankar, who smashed 43 runs in 30 balls. His unbeaten inning included three fours and two sixes. Skipper Shreyas Iyer and opener Prithvi Shaw once again failed to contribute any big score and departed after making six and 12 runs, respectively.

He also mentioned that the team is currently discussing how to go about the further remaining games, "We have had conversations going. We had talks at different levels where we need to go forward and actually try and finish off those games."

"For me, I'm not bothered. As any cricketer, if you do not perform, you're dropped. You look at these three games. One game I didn't bat. The second game, we were in a difficult position. And the third game? These things happen.&nbsp;

"I'm always hungry to perform. For any individual, (for) any cricketer performance is important. For me, what gets me going against any team are big players. Big players mean big games. These are the times you want to be counted,"

He praised powerful batting of Chris Gayle against Chennai on Sunday when King Gayle played at a strike rate of 190.91 and scored 63 runs off just 33 balls.

He said, "When you talk about Chris Gayle, you talk about the guy with most T20 runs, the best record, the most sixes, the most dominant force in T20 cricket."

He also said, "As a fellow West Indian, it is disappointing that he didn't fetch a buyer in the first or second round. But he eventually got a buyer."

Pollard seeks advice from media to outdo Mumbai's current form

Mustafizur was exceptional for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their title-winning campaign in 2016 with 17 wickets. &nbspThe left-arm pacer is an excellent choice for his versatility and ability to bowl quick.&nbsp

Same goes for left-arm pacer Australian Jason Behrendorff.

Apart from them, Australia’s Pat Cummins is another fast bowler who can rip apart the opposition and trouble the batsmen. &nbsp

However, Jasprit Bumrah will be the leader of the pack and is growing as one of the best with each day in international cricket.
